I highly recommend Pest Assured to others. Please read the full story below. For several years, I had a critter raising mounds of sand in a small area of my property. I didnâ  t really know what it was, never saw it, and never felt the need to do anything about it. This all changed when two large pine trees in that same area were killedâ  almost overnight â  by bark beetles and the gopher made a beeline toward my small grove of heirloom pear saplings. I discussed my problem with family and friends all of whom identified the culprit as either a mole or a salamander. I am prefacing my assessment of Pest Assured only because so many Floridians, yes native Floridians, have no clue about what raises those chains of sizable mounds overnight: the pocket gopher. Pocket gophers are small, one-pound-ish rodents that spend their lives excavating tunnels a foot or so underground on their mission to find plant bulbs and roots. Older generations called these little burrowers â  sandy moundersâ  : a term that over the years became corrupted to â  salamanders,â  little lizard-like amphibians. As people with pocket gophers on their land know, just one animal can seriously mar a lawn or devastate a vegetable garden. I went on the Internet to find an immediate solution to save my doubly endangered pear trees. I found information about pocket gophers and a fair amount of misinformation about them. I did not find a single exterminator with gophers removal services. In a last-ditch effort, I went on HomeAdvisor with fingers crossed. My plea for assistance went to Todd Yoder at Pest Assured, who was very knowledgeable about pocket gophers. Even though pocket gopher removal was not a service Pest Assured advertised, Todd agreed to help me with my problem. I am happy to report that in less than one week, the gopher was gone and the pear trees, saved.
