Really great experience. Like many other reviewers have mentioned....there's a reason why this company is so highly rated. The owner, Armando, really goes above and beyond to make sure his customers are satisfied. Plus, they do did a really great job and the price was cheaper than every other quote we received (and believe me we got several estimates from other Angie's List companies). The job was also done quickly - a little over a day to do our entire house - which was surprising given the fact that some of the other companies that gave us estimates told us it would take a few days. Call AC Shutters and Awnings and you won't be disappointed. It's really that simple.

Without a doubt the best company I have ever worked with in regard to punctuality, efficiency, reliability, price,GREAT WORK and most importantly HONESTY. Armando came out almost immediately after my call. My dog liked him and that is saying quite a lot! After giving me our estimate I asked if that included the discount for Angies List and he said no, but he would change it and he did. He could of very well said yes and I wouldn't have been the wiser. Not only did they do the what we contracted for,he noticed some work done previously through another company that had not been done perfectly so he had his crew re-do it at no extra charge. By the way, his crew was very friendly and very efficient. They ran in to a small problem and spent the time to discuss it with me to find the best solution which I was very happy with. I would not hesitate to call upon him again and as soon as funds allow I will. He deserves the high ratings he gets. I wouldn't look any further. The only thing I am afraid of is that all these wonderful ratings will make him too busy to come back to my house!

In South Florida, it is rare to find a company that still gives service with a smile and delivers a high quality product on time and for the price they estimate. Accordion shutters are a big investment, so we started the process by researching shutter companies on Angie's List. We received estimates from 3 Angie's List member companies, but in the end decided to go with AC Shutters because of the personalized service and guidance from Armando Colon. Armando treated our account as if it was his only one--he took time to explain our options and the steps in the process, worked through bureaucratic red tape with our city in pulling the permits, and kept us informed every step of the way. After the work was completed he visited our home on a Saturday to personally inspect the work and added a few finishing touches before the city building inspector came the following week. His workers even hauled away our heavy, old steel hurricane panels so we wouldn't have to find some way to dispose of them ourselves. We couldn't be happier with the work AC Shutters did for us, and are pleased to give them our highest recommendation. More importantly, we have peace of mind that our home will be protected as we enter yet another hurricane season.

I have not heard from them in 2 months. I always call them, but they will not return the call. They took the modom, and they have not returned it. He will not send an invoice.

We sent in an email request for a quote and Armando (the owner) immediately called us to come over and give us an estimate. The owner himself came over and spent time with my husband showing him the shutters and giving him a quote that beat all our other quotes. Because of the great quote and his great rating here, we used him. He came over again to execute the contract and was very nice. He was extremely responsive throughout the process; always calling us back right away and answering any questions or concerns we had. We had hurricane shutters installed within 3 weeks of signing the contract. His guys came over and installed them in about 3 hours, which was very fast. Later that day, Armando came by himself to make sure his guys did everything right. When he say that some of the shutters still needed holes, he had them come back and fix them prior to inspection. All around, it was a very good experience, and I would recommend them to anybody.

I called AC Shutters on 2/11/2010 and left a message. Armando Col?n, the owner, returned my call on the same day. I think he came by the next day and gave me an estimate of $350 for the shutters, which I felt was reasonable. He also said he could provide the railings, but he would have to call me again to confirm he could obtain the necessary materials. On 2/22/2010, two of his workers were here to install the shutters and measure for the railings. They were polite, efficient and completed the installation in a little less than an hour. Armando called me back shortly after that and we arranged for the two railings to be installed. They were installed by the same two excellent workers on 3/8/2010. The cost was $250 for the railings which, again, I felt was quite reasonable. Later that day, Armando Col?n called me and I paid him over the phone with a credit card. This entire experience was great. I had been in no hurry for the job to be done, but I thought it was completed in a very timely manner. Both Armando and his two installers were just outstanding. I would recommend them to anyone.

They were excellent and friendly to work with. The owner came out to the job himself. He worked around me, as I was home during installation. I had unusual windows that slide, and he installed the shutters that would fit those needs. I would recommend him to anyone.

Armando was very professional. He came to our home and provided us with an estimate for the job. No sales pressure from him. He was very patient in his explanations and details about the job. The accordions were installed on time,and we passed the inspection with no problems at all. We are very satisfied with the job. Overall, it was a good experience and we strongly recommend Armando and his company to anyone.

The overall experience was good. We are happy with the quality of our shutters. Armando Colon is a pleasant guy to deal with. He was on time for meetings and always readily available by phone. He was responsive to our preferences (accordion, roll down, panels), and he was flexible in writing a couple of different estimates that provided us with options at different price points (we have a lot of windows). One thing to be aware of - for Coral Gables residents at least - was that it took much longer than Armando anticipated to get the necessary permits from the Gables (we had permits on the shutters themselves and on the electrical work associated with the roll down shutters). Once the permits were in place, the installation went quickly. The accordion and roll down shutters are sturdy, and they open/close smoothly and easily.

Everything was very professional and punctual. Armando provided an estimate including a discount for Angie's List membership. The estimate included moving the decorative wooden window shutters and placing them back once the hurricane shutters were installed. Other companies that submitted quotes required for me to do this work, which would have been very troublesome for me. Armando was very informative and helpful. The installers were very professional cleaning up and making sure that everything was done right. The price was very competitive and the installation was completed within the scheduled time. I would highly recommend this company.

I can not say enough good things about Ramondo and his company. His punctuality and professionalism were outstanding. He gave us the best price, outstanding service. His installation staff worked on Sunday to have everything finished for us by Tuesday. He installed accordian shutters on all our openings - best price, best installation timing, excellent product. They passed the Miami-Dade inspectation with NO problems. We were thrilled with this experience.

I reached out to AC Shutters late one evening based on the rating in Angie's List. The owner, Armando, returned my call personally the next day. He was exceedingly pleasant on the phone and arranged to come by to give an estimate. He arrived for the estimate promptly, and was very thorough in counts and measurements. He sat down and spoke with me at length about the options I had, and even gave me advice regarding how to obtain the optimal insurance premium reduction as a result of installing the shutters. When I told him I wanted to discuss it with my husband, he was more than pleasant and offered to come by again (quite a drive for him) or to talk with him over the phone. After comparing bids, Armando won hands down for price ~ but what really stood out was his philosophy about customer service. He truly cares about the individuals he is helping....its not just show. When I called him to award him the business, he again went out of his way to make the process easy, coming by early on a Saturday morning, so that our meeting would not conflict with any family plans we had - a nice thoughtful touch. Permits were pulled and work commenced exactly when promised, finished exactly as promised. Workmanship is excellent, and the installers were careful to clean up the job site of all debris. Honestly, the best experience I have ever had with a contractor...just wished he did more so that I could use him for other things as well!

Job went very well, received quotes from 5 companies, went with AC on overall price/quality of product/rating from list. Armando got approvals from HOA and city, got job done as scheduled and professionally, delivered permit package and instructed on use at completion. Paid 30% at start, 60 after work completion and final 10 on permit delivery. Armando was a pleasure to work with, helpful and professional.

Had to call him twice to set up an appointment. He claimed that the bad weather had put him behind and that was the reason he did not return calls. He then asked me to call him in a few days to set up an appointment. He came and took measurements and said he would have estimates within a few days. That was over two weeks ago.

He is hard to get a hold of. He said he'd call me back and he didn't. He has told me the weather has been bad so he is behind. He hasn't set up an appointment. He answered my questions but it was hard to get him to follow through. He is very nice but he hasn't gotten back to me for about 10 days. I had to call him back twice when he said he would call me. He has good recommendations and I am relying on that. I understand when he gets on the job he does it well.

The installer, who is the brother of the owner of the company, came when he said, to do the job. He worked hard to complete the job as rapidly as possible, in spite of unexpected difficulties arising from the construction of our house.

Armando has serviced our house several times. First he addressed some non-working roll-down shutter motors and made new stabilizer bars for our roll-downs as I accidental threw these out when we moved in, not knowing what they were! My insurance company required me to shutter the remaining windows in the house that were not already shuttered. Armando came out promptly, got the necessary permits and installed the shutters. He was punctual, called to confirm that he was coming, and I didn't need to hassle him to have him show up. He was always kind and courteous, and his work was neat and clean.

Armando came to my house with a sample of the accordian shutters. He took the time to carefully explain the quality of the shutters (with a sample), how they operate, & noted that they are Miami-Dade approved for installation on high rises from 15 stories & up and thus were of higher quality than you normally see on a single family home (like mine). He told me to watch for lesser quality products (by name & construction) when I get other estimates. Since I was approved for a "My Safe Florida Home" grant for hurricane shutters, he explained his experience with this program & how he would complete the paperwork for the grant for my submission after the project was completed. I obtained one other estimate from a contractor who showed me a lesser quality product, and had little or no experience with the "My Safe Florida Home" program. Armando's crew performed the removal & installations very efficiently & professionally, scheduling around other contractors working on the house.
