He showed up and didn't take any measurements; or offer suggestions, etc. We asked for an estimate and he never got back to us or called back in the day or two as he stated. He should have had the courtesy and decency to respond as promised. Obviously, he wasn't interested in working on our project. That's okay but don't leave us hanging. Let a potential customer know that you're not interested or able to do it. Now, he is just another unreliable contractor. I would never recommend him to anyone.

David Coulter has got to be among the very best contractors I've hired. He's polite, good-natured, knows what he can (and cannot) do, and is exacting in his work -- a far cry from the slipshod, rush-through-the-job typical contractors of today. His drywall work is flawless: he 's quite possibly the best drywall man available in central Florida. I had him perform a range of tasks and he nailed them all. And he works well with others. I would have no reservations about recommending this guy to members of my own family. Kudos, David.

I needed to install walkway pavers infront of my house, and have some pool deck pavers reinstalled. Also I needed all the exterior of my house re-painted and some wall cracks in the stucco repaired and some exterior stone removed. I called the general contractor and he came out and we discussed options. He said he would send out his subcontractors about doing the paver job and a painter /stucco man to do stucco and paint. The subs for each project came out in a matter of a few days. The sub for the paver job said that the front walkway part of the job would have to be done after another task I had planned of putting fill dirt in my side yard. He thought it was not wise to be pushing wheelbarrows of fill dirt over freshly installed pavers, which I didn't see why the pavers couldn't handle that kind of a load but I took his word for it and put that part of the job off til the fill dirt job was done. He then looked at the other part of the paver job which was to re-install some pavers on my pool deck. After looking at the pavers he said he would be sending out one of his guys to look at that part of the job since he would be the one doing the work, then he left. I've been waiting for about 2 months for him to show to do the repair job but he never called or showed up at all. So, apparently the repair part of the paver job was not worth a call or a show, so I gave up on them. In the mean time the general contractor called and said that he didn't forget about me and my paint and stucco issue, and that he and the pain/stucco subcontractor were discussing the type paint to be used. Since they finished deciding on the correct product which to be a thick and elastic paint, the sub would be out to see me and discuss it with me. A few days later, the sub showed up and walked around the house with me as I pointed out the repair that needed to be done and the area to be painted. After we discussed some solutions to the stucco repair and the type of paint he recommended, he said he would be back with some color swatches. That was the last contact I had with any of the subs or the contractor. So not a thing was accomplished which turned out fine with me since now I know what kind of dependability I could have expected. Now I know not to use the contractor nor the subs. I am finding that the Angies list folks are no better or worse than anyothers aparently. I even found a company called Champion Foundation Repair on the list. They did a $25,000 job for my Mother's home which is now our home to lift the foundation. Well they lifted the outside bearing walls and underpinned them but never lifted the slab which was poured inside the walls and not actually attached to them. I would have expected that their engineer would have known that and informed my Mother before attempting to raise the foundation, but they didn't. They just claimed to have pinned the outer walls and left the house with a slab that had dropped nearly 4and quot; in the back corner of the house. Almost 10 years later, once I took over ownership after my Mother passed away, I read their warranty and found that they specifically will not correct the slab. So apparently, a company that performs substandard work and charges high dollars for that work and will not make good on their work and in the end did not resolve the problem can still be on Angie's list. To me that makes the list meaningless.

Sorry for the misunderstanding I thought you were waiting to fix the foundation problem before we did the stuccowork my mistake sorry.I was waiting to hear back from you so that we could move forward with the stucco.it didn't make sense to fix the cracks on the outside of the house when you still had settling issues with the foundation.but then again I do apologize for the misunderstanding.

I could not have been more satisfied with the services of Coulter Construction in performing my requested home inspection. Let me begin by stating my wife and I have either had the fortune or misfortune of moving many times during our careers. We must have bought and sold fifteen homes during our marriage. I am familiar with the home inspection process both from the buyer’s standpoint and from that of the seller. Dave Coulter and Wayne McFarland are not just home inspectors with inspection experience. They are home builders and remodeling specialist. They are professionals. They know the home construction business inside and out - not from just passing an inspection exam required by the state. When Dave and Wayne arrived they clearly explained the role of the home inspector before they began the inspection. They discussed the inspection report that would be completed. They elaborated and explained the inspection charges were based on the size and complexity of the home and any encumbrances that would be have to be taken into consideration during the inspection process. In my case, the home to be inspected was vacant, slightly over 2800 square feet of indoor living space, with an attached three car garage. The charges for this inspection were $350.00 and well worth it. Dave and Wayne spent a full four hours at the job site. Nothing was missed. They explained in detail all the various construction features of the home and issues that arose during the inspection process. Believe me, nothing was overlooked. I am completely satisfied with their inspection. It was a great experience. Dave Coulter and Wayne McFarland are the best in the business. The completed inspection report was impressive. Documented with pictures, clearly explained in laymen’s language, the report was thorough and professional. Your inspection might not have to take as much time as mine, but you will be satisfied with the results performed by these two fine gentlemen.

Dave was recommended by a coworker and we wanted to find out ballpark price for conversion of a garage into a master suite on a home that we made an offer on. He came on time while the home was being inspected and looked quickly at the existing structure. He informed us it would have to come down and be rebuilt with new hurricane code in mind, and gave us a ballpark price on that. He also brainstormed some other options to create more space. He said he would check on zoning to see whether such a structure could be rebuilt there, and what the setbacks would have to be. We hoped to hear back from him early the next week when we had to respond to the inspection report, but after two calls I put into him, it was fairly obvious that he was either having trouble getting in touch with zoning or he was not trying to contact them. I finally went to the zoning office expecting the worst because I figured if a contractor who knows the language couldn't get any information from them it would be very hard for me to do that. But it was incredibly easy and informative, and now I can't understand why we never heard from Dave again. I guess it is awkward and hard to directly tell people that you don't want the job, but it still a bit more professional than promising call-backs and never following through. He seemed knowledgeable and has a good website, but maybe there was just something about this job that he didn't like. All in all, it was a worthwhile experience because Dave let me know the proper questions to ask zoning, inadvertently. But I just would have liked a little more feedback. We have bought the house and are going through with the renovation in a few month's time.

remodeling a home is never a pleasant task but I can honestly say that Coulter Construction made the process a lot easier. Mr. Coulter was on site every day supervising his subcontractors. And when a problem did arise, as problems always do in construction, Mr Coulter was right on top of it. And when the job was completed Mr. Coulter did not ask for a check until everything was to our complete satisfaction. It isn't everyday you find a construction firm with the integrity of Coulter Construction.

I made an appointment for an estimate. Mr. Coulter showed up on time, took all the necessary measurements and then took the time to understand exactly what I wanted. The estimate came that afternoon via email. The estimate was easily understandable and reasonable. All the work went flawlessly. The subs were terrific. Everything was kept neat and clean throughout the project. I highly recommend Mr. Coulter and would certainly use him again.

It was a pleasure working for this client. See above. Went great.
Description of Work: Coulter Constructions challenge for us this time, was reroofing our 3 story, 100 year old building, with high steep pitched roof. This job included the removal of the old roofing, as well as making repairs to the original decking as needed. Coulter also repaired much of the original eves that had bad wood in areas of the overhang. This included installing several, much needed, vents in hard to reach areas. Many areas required a 3 srory lift to get to the problems. The job was started on time, as is their practice, and was completed on time. As usual, another job done right the 1st time for us. Their job, is to solve our problems for us, when it comes to our buildings. They do the job, and always do it right. Thats why I always use them.

This was the 2nd time I hired Dave Coulter Construction for major home improvements. Dave, as usual, was always responsive when I called with a question or concern. This job was performed in entirety by his subcontractor Mike Evans of Evans Construction. Unfortunately, I would rate Mike's work as a "C" ... and I will admit I will never tell a contractor "don't worry about not painting" (the siding or deck bench) because this happens to include caulking (which is apparently considered part of painting) and therefore not required! Mike did caulk the new sliding doors but then I had to ask him and ask him (and ask him) -- until Dave directed him to caulk the new wooden (hurricane support) ledges that were added to accommodate the size of the new doors. The (2) sliding doors open from my dining room onto a large patio; prior to Mr. Evan's work, he measured the opening not once, but three times each time on a separate occasion prior to installation. When the installation was complete, my previous perfectly fitted and painted (indoor) moldings were a shambles the corners no longer fit and the metal door frames are now exposed ... both Dave and Mike said "I could just paint these metal frames." HUH! (See what I mean about not saying "don't worry about painting!") When Mr. Evan's work on my home was complete, Dave did a walk through with me and agreed there was some touch up work to be done on the patio doors especially the thresholds since they no longer fit due to the larger door openings. The threshold replacement became a bit crazy and Dave did everything PERSONALLY to remedy this by taking an existing threshold to a cabinetry business, making the exact measured replacements and having them stained to match my dining room hardwood floor. Dave brought his carpenter and assisted him in this installation. Dave will not ask for final payment until he knows you are satisfied with the job, and Dave expressed his disappointment in Mr. Evan's work. After a few days had passed and the issues remedied I came home from work and found a nice bottle of red wine on my patio deck it had a Coulter Wine label on it! How nice is that!
