Description of Work: I have been using Somar Pools for some time now after a dreadful experience with another pool company. Mario Ramos, the owner, came out personally to discuss pool maintenance with me. He is honest and very reliable.

Description of Work: I contacted Somar Pools on Tuesday regarding my leaking pool. Mario and I agreed to have someone come out Thursday for pool leak detection services, I was to be contacted that morning for specific time. By mid-morning Thursday I received no call. I called Somar and was told Mario would contact me shortly. It's now Friday morning and today I have their competition coming this afternoon.

Description of Work: Currently using their pool cleaning service. The monthly cost is a bit more than what I use to pay but to be honest so far its been worth it. The price they charged for changing my motor was most reasonable, and they do not charge the service call fee. Once they changed the motor decided to use their pool cleaning service they are more reliable and trustworthy! The 350$ was the charge for the new motor.

Description of Work: The company came out, looked at my pool and said they would email me an estimate within 2-3 days. After more than a week, I called and left a message that I had not received a quote. I again left my phone number and email address. They never had the courtesy of a reply. There is no start date or dollar amount because they never gave me an estimate.

Description of Work: After calling a few other listed companies, Somar gave the best price and appointment availability. Mario arrived on time, but was reluctant to provide the service.... no fault of his! My pool had not ben used in years, needs resurfacing and the just water maintenance was at bare minumal (not that appealing to the eye). So I totally understood his apprehensions, however, he still offered to do as much as he could to detect my leak, without entering the water. Amazingly, Mario found two leaks, repaired them and I am still leak-free today. Most techs would not have thought twice about this job, but Mario was very brave, professional, efficient, and most of all, exercised compassion for the same origina quote. This makes his company above the rest, because almost all service people apply a "compassion fee" (thats the extra charges for the jo not being as easy as they want it to be). I will be trying to use this company exclusively, for my pool.... and recommend the same to others!

Description of Work: Mario Ramos, owner of Somar Pools, LLC installed a larger, more efficient pool filter for our pool at a home we recently bought. Mario had previously come out to our house, on very short notice, when we needed help dealing with a cloudy pool. We were looking for professional advice on managing our first pool and he took the time to explain to us what basic procedures were needed to keep the pool clean and in working order. He explained pool maintenance procedures thoroughly and also suggested some equipment upgrades that would make our pool management easier to handle. Mario was low key and no pressure about the proposal, which offered several options to us. We made the decision to go with replacing our old pool filter with a larger one (the least expensive option of three upgrades suggested) and notified him of our intentions. He was willing to install the new filter with 3 days notice so he could get all the equipment ordered in time. He arrived on time for his installation appointment and got the work done in a timely manner. He explained our new equipment, its maintenance and made sure we had the owners manual and related paperwork.

Description of Work: Called the company to get a quote on installing a stainless steel railing for the pool steps. The gentleman quoted me approximately $1200 because he had to make sure the decking had the code approved grounding lattice in case the pool light or other electrical wires could 'elecrtrify' the railing. If the deck didn't have this, I think he said he would have to run a grounding wire from the railing across the deck to an appropriate ground. I had priced the stainless steel railing itself, on the internet, at less than $200 + shipping. Another pool service company did the job for $425!! It was done in two hours and looks great! There were no wires or electrical conduits anywhere near where they had to drill two 2" diameter holes to fasten the railing!!!!!

Description of Work: I needed a new pool company so I call Somar as they are on Angie's List. Mario, the owner called back promptly and came over the same day.
