pool cleaners
+ -1 moreBrent is a charmer, and rahter unabashedly extols his own virtues about honesty, service and sincerity - he's anything but. AVOID him and Aquos Pools. Good riddance.
Description of Work: My pump died and my pool service (at the time) gave me a quote I thought was a little high, so I shopped around. Brent gave me a quote which was a little cheaper than the others and he seemed like such a nice guy, so I asked him if he'd reduce his price a little and I would allow him to service my pool (so he would get more business [$$] in the long run). He agreed. He replaced the pump and from there it just went downhill. With his invoice on the pump replacement there were all of these random/questionable charges, for this and for that. I accepted it and paid it, giving him the benefit of the doubt. Although my pool timer was broken (had been broken for three years, and I just turned it on and off manually), he didn't realize it. The pool started turning green and I mentioned to him that the timer was broken and he immediately attributed it to that and said he wouldn't work on the pool until it was fixed. I didn't understand as the entire time with the timer was broken (with my previous service), the pool NEVER ONCE turned green. So, I decided that although I didn't want to spend the money and his argument didn't make any sense, I would replace it, so that it would be one less thing for me to have to worry about. After that, the pool was still turning green. He told me it was because there was no pool vacuum. I told him, from the first day, that I DID NOT want a pool vacuum as 1) they're ugly and 2) what would I be paying a pool person for at that point?!? (Also, I have NO trees in my back yard and have essentially NO debris that gets in my pool - another reason I didn't want/nor need a vacuum ...). I was planning on having a pre-wedding pool party at our home and expecting about 50 people and the pool was still green (this is after 2+ weeks). After continually communicating with him about this, he asked me to start cleaning the pool filter daily. I did, as I needed the pool clean. (Can you believe I had a pool service and I was the one cleaning the filter?? I'm a sucker, obviously.) He came and put a number of chemicals in and I kept cleaning the filter (twice a day and the pump was on 24/7 ...), it finally cleared THE DAY before the party. Within two weeks it was green again and he insisted that the pool needed a vacuum, 'it would solve all the problems.' He then said he would not work on pool without the vacuum; I told him goodbye. Went back to my previous service and within two days of his return the pool was perfect. The pool has been perfect since and that was 3+ months ago. Oh, and guess what? There's no vacuum in the pool. Also, as a kicker, my original pool service, once I rehired them (him), notified me that the pool pump Brent had installed was a REBUILT pump that Brent told me was a NEW pump.

+ -1 moreWe had a very green pool due to letting it sit over the winter, but it was so bad to the point where we had to eventually drain it. Once drained it was crystal clear so we decided to hire someone to maintain it so we didn't have to deal with it. Based on the good reviews we decided to hire Brent. He sent two very long detailed messages through thumbtack about hiring a quality experienced pool guy, so even more he seemed like the right guy. Two weeks go by, the pool still looked good even though we had a not so good filter. Brent recommended us to buy a filter and an automatic pool vacuum which we did costing more than $300. The third week, the pool was becoming cloudy and algae was beginning to grow on the top edge of the pool around a small area. Brent explained it was because he bought the wrong filter and had not put it in yet. That Saturday as a courtesy, he claimed, he came out and replaced the filter and said we shouldn't have any problems with it being cloudy, but that algae wouldn't come off except with a metal scrub brush that he would use to scrub it off. By this time I had texted twice and asked him how we pay him for his services and his response was that all customers asked that and he was only concerned about the customers and that he would invoice me. He came out again that Monday for about 15 minutes and the algae remained there. Now Saturday rolls around and even more algae spread around the top edge of the entire pool. Extremely concerned since we are paying someone to prevent this, I texted Brent and let him know. His response was that he would be by to look at it. Sunday comes and the algae is even worse. I texted Brent to please call me so we could find out what is wrong. His response was that I have an outstanding balance and that today was respectfully his time with his wife and that he would appreciate homeowners "interact with the pool needs (debris, scrubbing, etc.)" and have my husband clean the filter. Needless to say, he is no longer our pool maintenance man. We had to go to a pool store and were told there was absolutely no chlorine in the pool and the ph was completely off. An hour after adding the chemicals, low and behold, the algae is almost completely gone. No scrubbing needed. Plus, he tried to charge me a full months worth of service when he came out 3 times with a fourth as a "courtesy" he said. Then he tried to say he bought a Hayward filter for us and we found out it was the exact brand we already had and he tried charging us $50 more for it fraudulently charging for a Hayward. Be aware of nice people who can talk a good game, but just try and take your money without providing the services they promised. I DEFINITELY DO NOT RECOMMEND! Brent is a true con artist.
Description of Work: Did not do his job and let algea grow on our pool that we had sparkling clean.

+ -1 moreBrent was fantastic. He made time in his busy schedule to come out to our property at 7 AM last minute so that we could go into negotiations on our new home confidently. When the time comes to repair our pool I will definitely be calling him. After calling around to many pool guys, and being cancelled on by one I have to say he was the most professional person I found in the area. Can't say enough great things about him! Despite having a completely booked day, he rearranged his schedule and got up early to inspect our pool at 7 AM, with less than 24 hrs notice. He helped us out of a major jam. Extremely professional and very friendly. I won't be using anyone else.
