I was having a difficult time finding a contractor to come out and scope the job and give me a quote. I had two other contractors that came out to my office but never got back to me with a quote. Juan came to the office within a day or two of my first telephone call and got back to me with a quote within a few days. Not only was the quote very reasonable he was able to schedule the job within a week. Juan showed up on time, completed the job quickly and efficiently. If I need any electrical done in the future he will be the first person I would call. I was very pleased with the entire experience.

I provided all the parts. J&R Electric provided the labor-two electricians. They arrived on time and completed the work in about 2 hours. I was very satisfied with their work. The bill was exactly what they estimated - no surprises or additional expenses. Killer deal/extremely reasonable charge for their top-notch service. All you Brandon-Valrico-Plant City homeowners should call these guys first for electrical work on your house. Great job, thanks guys. Side note- Angies list support was not good. They lost my first review of J&R Electric - so I had to type and submit it twice.

Excellent. These guys were prompt. The cuts made were precise, the drywall pieces were not damages so we did not have to but more to patch the ceiling. These guys were friendly. Prices were good. Would definitely hire these guys again and would recommend them.

Juan and Co. were prompt, efficient, polite, and professional. The only issue I had was the new box didn't fit exactly into the existing space; a small issue I am able to correct myself. Based on cost, professionalism, clean up, follow up, and customer service the earned the "A" rating I gave them. As I am in the commercial construction business as a professional for over thirty years, I know a great company when I see them and use them. If I had or rather when I have additional electrical work Juan and Co. will be my go to company; period.

When I called Juan (owner of J&R Universal) to request an estimate, he was in transit, returning from a job in Bradenton. He was planning on going home and said he could meet with us the following day. When I expressed an urgency for a quote, and he gratiously agreed to meet with my husband and me before going home that day. He arrived on schedule and spent a lot of time with us explaining the best way to get electrical service from our well to the pressure tank. Juan was very professional and knowledgeable. We also needed a 150 foot trench dug from the pump to the tank for the electrical conduit which Juan said he could do for us. We received Juan's quote in a timely manner, agreed to his fair and reasonable price, and scheduled a day for our work to be performed. Juan and Fernando worked well as a team and completed the job in a timely manner. They were neat and organized. We were very happy with excellent quality of the work performed, and the professionalism of J&R Univeral. We highly recommend them to anyone needing electrical services.

I had an issue with flickering lights, outlets that kept tripping and fluorescent lights that didn't come on right away and a stove that didn't go all of the way to the wall. I consulted Angie's list and got the name of an electrician. He was very pleasant on the phone and was able to come to fix the issues the next day. Unfortunately he wasn't able to fix the fluorescent lights because they don't make the parts any more so he gave me some options. All other issues were fixed in a minimum amount of time and I would call his company again when I have the need for an electrician. He was very competent and very nice.

Job was done in about two hours and the well folks are planning to start Friday.

I was pleased and impressed with the qualities of owner Juan Ulloa when he first arrived to assess the job. He was friendly, knowledgable and exhibited a positive "can do" attitude regarding all my requests. Other electricians who had come to look at the job complained about the tight space in the attic and kept commenting how "difficult" it would be to run the wires where they needed to go. Some said they "had to" run (ugly) conduit along the outside of the house and/or mount the new circuit breaker box in the hallway by my living room, without regard for the appearance of my house. Others asked if I had a good drywall man lined up to repair the damage they would create in running the wires. Juan's confidence made me feel comfortable and he assurred me that they would hide new wiring with minimal damage to walls or ceiling; he did not complain about the confined attic crawl space and spoke like he had delt with many similar challanges and successfuly overcome all of them before on a daily basis. He was a good listener. He let me explain exactly what I wanted done and how I wanted things to look without interruption, then made suggestions based on his experience. But it was evident that his ultimate concern was to satisfy his customer. Several other electricians just told me what they would do without discussing my concerns. When Juan and his other electrcian, Fernando, arrived to start work on the first day, their plans were delayed by dangerous conditions on the roof which required coordination from TECO. However, they managed to switch gears quickly and became productive on other parts of the project until TECO arrived. If a code related question arose, they readily called the city inspector to clarify before proceeding. Throughout the project, they remained focused and professionalm, proceeding with dilligence until each task was completed. When working on the panel outdoors it began to rain, so they quickly set up a tent which allowed them to continue without much interruption. Conversation between the electricians was always cooperative and positive. I don't remember hearing complaining or non work related talk. Another quality I appreciated was neatness. Besides keeping the work areas neat, Juan and Fernando were mindful of the appearance of their work. They used a level frequently such as when mounting boxes or cables on the side of the house. The wiring inside the new panel box is meticulous with wires parallel and neatly spaced; each circuit breaker is clearly labled. The interior of the junction box is also neat with straight twisted pairs alligned parallel, easy to access, trace and identify. Juan and his staff were conscientious in returning texts, calls and emails throughout the project. He was also thoughtful about not leaving me stranded without certain circuits, e.g.: hot water refrigerator and stove when he left for the day. When the invoice was sent, prices were as quoted. I presented the Angie's List 10% Discount Coupon at time of payment, but Juan explained that was only for "Service Calls" and did not apply to a project such as mine. He did, however, offer to pay for my new 4 wire dryer cord, a $25 item.

He was very professional, knowledgeable and kind. I felt very comfortable with him in my home.

Juan did complete assessment of improper wiring done by previous contractor. Pulled permit and rewired, to meet code. Also installed heated towel bar. Inspection tomorrow. Price high compared to other bids but did work inherit a "mess" and did work in an expedient and professional manner. Did honor the Angie's list coupon.

Awesome! I had been told about $3000.00 and then I asked someone at work and he said these guys were pretty good. He was not kidding. Any electrical I will ever have done will be done by these guys. Respectful and clean and by clean I mean they cleaned up after they did the work. They were done within the time frame they estimated and they were prompt when the arrived.

Juan was right on time. Got right on the problem and resolved it in short order. I was very impressed with his knowledge base, obviously knew his stuff. Courteous and very competent. Great customer interaction.

Juan was SO helpful and nice. He addressed all of our concerns and solved our electric issues with a direct and honest approach. He had a great attitude and even spent an extra ten minutes fixing our circuit box protector after he had already been paid. I was very pleased with his service, and will definitely hire him again!

J & R did all the electrical work on our remodelling project prior to our move-in.This involved some tricky wiring projects to accommodate our picture lights, all done impeccably, plus converting a lot of overhead fluorescent to cans and puck lights, and a lot of more routine work, all perfectly-executed by the time we arrived. The one really challenging item that Juan undertook - and it was after we got here - was to install an unusual dining room chandelier. The chandelier involved a ceiling mounted track and pendant lights, but the original element was that the track needed to be bent into an "S" shape, and this had to be done over the glass-topped dining table. Juan had the perfect plan: to work with his lazer to get perfect alignment for the anchors at each end over the table and then to work in to the central outlet. The result was absolutely perfect: a lovely S-curve on the track and four perfectly offset pendant lights, and of course the glass-topped table was thoroughly cushioned and well protected. Juan was so pleasant to work with: thoughtful and very skilled. The house we're moving in to badly needs a fan over the master bed, and I'll be asking Juan to do that work for me. I've moved into many houses in my nearly-70 years, but Juan is probably the best electrician I've ever worked with.

Juan called about 15 min. prior to the appointment time to verify that I was still expecting him. He arrived right on time and quickly diagnosed the problem... (about 20 min.). He left to go and purchase the part needed (plug for dryer outlet). He returned a short time later and installed the plug. He then offered to help me get the old hose off of the water faucet so that I could attach the new one for my new washer. This was something the delivery people refused to do since it was corroded. I appreciated his extra effort on that. Overall it took a total of about 90 minutes from start to finish. The entire time he was very personable and explained everything he was checking or doing. A perfect example of how a company should do business: Fast, Quality work, friendly, and affordable!
