The problem is that the two shower valves were not installed per manufacturer?s specifications! They are not flush with the shower tiling?they are too deep in the wall and will not function correctly! We paid $2,300 for the work, but the valves were not installed correctly. This is not acceptable to us! And since the bathroom is not yet completed, we have no idea yet if the other work is satisfactory. But we do know for a fact that the two valves were installed wrong. We got an estimate to correct the work from a highly recommended contractor?one recommended by Hillsborough County. In order not to destroy the new tile work in the shower, this contractor must access the shower valves from the back of each valve. That means tearing out brand new sheetrock on the bedroom wall side of the shower, and tearing up concrete block from the outside wall side of the shower. This will also involve taking out the pool pump supply box. Below, you can see his estimate to correct the work. I have typed it verbatim: Remove and reinstall (2) shower valves (as per manufacturer?s specifications) Remove drywall behind shower valve on bedroom side Have electrician disconnect and reinstall electrical supply box for pool pump Cut out stucco and concrete block to access shower valve from back Plumber to re-plumb water lines to shower valves and shower heads so plastic template is flush with finished tiled surface Patch back in drywall and block stucco and texture to match existing (can?t guarantee texture matches exactly) TOTAL: $1390 + Materials Please bear in mind that remodeling our bathroom is a work in progress, and hasn't yet been completed. Frankly, we discovered the problems with Ian Swepson's work through problems we had with Michael Rios, of This Home Handyman--the contractor who brought in Ian Swepson. Mr. Rios abruptly quit working on our house in late fall of 2010. For several months, we wrote and called him, trying to get together to discuss what had happened to him. He never responded to those calls or letters until this past spring. He sent us an email stating that This Home Handyman was no longer in business. Following that we obtained an estimate, from the contractor referenced above, to complete the bathroom project. He was the one to discover the valve problems caused by Ian Swepson. On April 18, 2011 we wrote Mr. Swepson detailing the problems found with his work. We asked him to respond back in writing. He has never done so. We have already contacted the BBB and the Hillsborough County Consumer Protection Agency. And we hope hope Angie's List can help recover the monies paid to Ian Swepson, for work done incorrectly.

Also determined location of pipe out to street and showed where blockage had been, called city to determine location of pipe. Suggested replanting new fruit trees we just planted on top of drain pipe. Explained issues with pipes this old (40 yr). Very friendly, knowledgeable.
Description of Work: Hired another plumber to clear drains, next day still had problem, Swepson came out same day we called them, cleared drain without any further problems (root problems).
