Shannon and team were amazing. They worked with me to find a solution that was within my budget and would accomplish my main goals, they communicated proactively, they worked with my schedule, and they showed up on time and got everything done beautifully and quickly. I'm thrilled with the results and will definitely try to use them for my next project.

Shannon and his team were great to work with. He was very flexible with communication and recommendations on the best way to get the job done. He was really good about keeping me updated with timing and pictures of what work was getting done especially while I was traveling. It was a big job and we were able to come to terms on reasonable cost for the entire project.

The job performed by Southern Bros Landscaping was outstanding. Right now it’s just newly laid sod, but in three weeks to a month it will start to take hold. Southern Bros was very helpful in explaining how to make that happen. They also recommended someone to fertilize and maintain the new lawn down the road. Tks Shannon, job well done.

We had landscaping done around the front porch by Southern Brothers Landscaping. It turned out amazing! Depth, color, and variety is what we got. When I spoke with Shannon I didn’t know what types of plants I wanted, so I left it in his hands, and I’m so glad I did. Honestly! You can’t go wrong by hiring this company to do your landscaping. I wake up every morning excited to open my front door.

Shannon has been my lawn and landscaping company for over three years. He is punctual, caring and courteous. I decided I wanted to redo my pool pavers to travertine. Shannon took care of everything for me. I picked out my travertine and gave my deposit. Once the travertine was in they promptly had everything demolished and the new being placed. I could not be happier about my new pool area. In fact I loved it so much that I decided to refinish my pool to match the travertine. I know when I do any project with Shannon I can rest easy that it will get completed the right way and in a timely manner.

I have used Shannon in the past do refresh our landscaping. I called him this time because I wanted to have him build a patio and landscape our backyard. Shannon came out a few days after I contact him. He got the measurements and had his landscape designer come out. They designed a plan. Once the pavers arrived they began their work. I could not be happier with the end result. I love my patio and new plants.

Based on the very positives reviews, I called this firm back in July 2018 for a quote to pretty much redo the landscape of our yard and build an additional patio and redo the current. Shannon met us at our house. Although he seemed professional and knowledgeable, He did not live to the expectations. 1) he said his designer would get back with ideas and price. Two weeks later, designer still in vacation and he would get back to us asap. Two more weeks get by with no design... still workinng on it. Ok. Maybe when we get back home from vacation it will be ready for review...nope: the excuse was that wife emailed us a design. But we didnt get it. “ ok , no problem. Can she resend?”, i asked. Two more weeks, the designer is getting married so couldnt do it. Fast forward today the answer was “project is a no go because I can't get a hold of her, she is in her honeymoon. “Ok, I understand. can i hire a designer? “ nooo, i only work through her and she knows the products. Plus now we are fully boojed until bext year so no reason to rush a design... Really ? What a joke. Don’t fall for it like i did...i was a fool for not taking my hard earned money else where....earlier!

Our project was complete removal and replacement of our old landscaping as well as moving rain water away from the house and repairing damage from a hardscape project. It was a very big project that we did in stages. The entire project from start to finish was done very professionally and in a timely manner. Shannon is always easy to get in touch with when you need him to come by and is punctual. At completion of the project we were very happy with the way everything came out.

It went well. Workers were professional, friendly and polite. Some delay due to weather but can't prevent that.

We put Shannon to work! First up, the driveway. I found Shannon on Angie's List and called about getting a concrete driveway installed. He came out instantly ... probably the same day I called him. I must've called four or five others in Gainesville -- all of them I found at this site -- but only Shannon responded. We decided against concrete, and went with river rock, with brick borders. The job was fast and looks great. Second, the gutter drains. So, about the time I called Shannon about the driveway, I had called another joker about gutters. (I also found him on Angie's List.) Shannon happened to be out here with his team, installing the driveway, when the gutter guy was working, too. Shannon was keeping an eye on the gutter guy's work. After the gutter guy left, Shannon pointed a few things out that the gutter guy messed up (I'm clueless ... but Shannon was obviously right, and he showed me why). He offered to repair the work for free, provided I call him about getting the grass replaced ... Third, the grass. We resodded the whole front yard. Shannon came out, again, with his team, killed off all the grass, scraped everything away, and layed the sod down. Gotta say, the stuff looked good ... you could eat it like a salad. (I haven't done it yet ... yet.) He took the time to make sure it was done right, and I've got the best yard in the neighborhood. And he put in monkey grass and a vitex tree, which, according to Google, is apparently also called a "chaste tree." Indeed. We keep going back to the Southern Brothers well. And definitely will again ... there's a back yard to get fixed up, too. Bottom line? I guess you could call the other people on this site, but you'll either (1) never hear back from them, or (2) end up having Shannon come out and fix their work. Save yourself the time. Southern Brothers first.

Shannon (owner) made the process simple and turnkey. From bid to completion work was performed as planned in spite of torrential rains delaying sod delivery. Very easy to communicate and work with. Crew was prompt and professional. Planning to use him for weekly maintenance since the yard now looks fantastic!!

It was perfection from start to finish. No problemscat all. Shannon was great and attentive. I'm glad I chose this company.

Perfectly. Never in 44 years if owning our home have we had anyone do the complete quality job except Southern Brothers. Came right over with design and implementation ideas and reasonable estimate. Then in four days took out 3 huge trailer loads of weeds ferns vines and ivy munched and placed gorgeous lava rock accents and healthy sod. Planted new stuff and moved some other plants around. They were the first to really diagnose and treat irrigation problems. Three earlier people only thought they had helped! Bonus was their cleaning up each day as if they were completely done. I a.m. overjoyed that they exceeded my high expectations!

Edit in response to company response: Having had a chance to read Shannon's response to my review, I would like to add two pieces of information. If, as he has claimed, he stated that his proposed solution would not work that well before he provided a quote, would we have agreed to pay $2,000? Secondly, please direct your attention to the attached photos once again and let me know if water should flow uphill, which is the only way that these drains would have ever worked as designed. To make a long story short, we feel as if we got taken and that Shannon got in over his head on this project and simply cut his losses. Also, I'm not sure why he claimed to have never heard from [Member Name Redacted] as we were both present at the time the quote was provided. However, I am happy to report that after ripping out most of the drains myself and starting from scratch, the new drain system works flawlessly. Lastly, you'll have to decide whether to believe Shannon's version of events or our own, so it's up to you to decide if we'd be complaining on here if the drains worked as advertised. - - - -There's much I could write about this particular ordeal, but I will try to condense it. Shannon was polite and confident. He genuinely seems like a nice guy. However, his work left a lot to be desired. For example, one of the four drains he installed actually sloped up away from the house. Water drains down. Two of the other drains are relatively level over a run of 30 to 40 feet each. Water ends up draining out of the 12-inch catch basin into the soil by the house at these locations, though some water does end up draining out in the yard, which is better than nothing. The fourth drain slopes down 2 to 3 inches over 40 feet, which isn't enough (it should be more like 5 inches over that length). He even did send his two laborers back out to modify the drains a little bit. I requested that he seal the pipes and connectors as they were very leaky and very little water was actually reaching the discharge basins out in the yard. He argued that it would void the warranty (not that I care about that - the 8 catch basins only cost $50 each at Home Depot, and they're very sturdy plastic stuck in the ground, so it's unlikely they will be damaged) and that they would make it difficult to clean the pipes, though I did point out that if that became an issue, it isn't that difficult to cut through silicone caulk or duct tape. He acquiesced, and sealing the pipes and fitting did actually make the drains less leaky, but they still perform very poorly. I am also very concerned that he argued that the pipes are sloped adequately, but he never measured, and when I did measure with a string stretched tight between two metal stakes, a level, and a tape measure, it was clear that the yard was almost perfectly level at two of the drains and sloped UP from the house at a third. Also, it was clear simply from taking a quick glance at the water level in each pair of catch and discharge basins (if the water level if higher in the catch basin by the house than the discharge basin in the yard, it means that the one by the house is lower). I told him about these concerns, but he grew short with me and argued that since he had already spent so much money on supplies ($400 on the Catch basins at Home Depot, 160-feet of 4-inch corex pipe that retails for $65 per 100-foot roll, and some fittings that cost a few dollars each — so if I'm being generous he spent about $600 on supplies unless he saved by buying wholesale) and labor (8 hours of work each for a pair of laborers, unless there were more hiding somewhere, and a few hours more to dig up the drains, caulk the fittings, and come back a few days later to refill the holes with dirt), he would NOT be coming out to slope the drains properly. He would, however, be willing to fix the one drain that slopes up from the house, simply because there was absolutely no defending that, but that was approximately two weeks ago, and I've not heard anything in more than a week. As a result of all of this hassle, I decided to take matters upon myself. We have a ditch in the front of our property, and the yard slopes down several feet in the front yard. I have dug a 175-foot trench (it really isn't that difficult - I was just too busy to get to this project a few weeks ago) and plan on connecting all of the catch basins to a single run of 4-inch corex pipe and out to the front ditch. I will run a separate 4-inch corex pipe in gravel and drainage/landscape fabric to form a French drain around that edge of the house. The cost of the extra materials are approximately $600 for gravel and pipe and roughly 20 hours of my time. However, I am very displeased that it now falls on me to fix this job especially since it cost $2,000. This is the only time I have hired this landscape company, and while they might make beautiful garden beds (I really wouldn't know), I simply cannot recommend them for yard drainage. With that, I would direct your attention to the two photos I've attached. The first is one of the catch basins by our house, which has flooded with water. The second photo is the connected discharge basin out in the yard. The ground is a little damp, but 95% of the water stayed right up by the house. I'm not even that angry that Shannon is refusing to fix the job. He expected a tidy profit from this job, and the two extra partial days of labor have eaten into that margin. At this point, I just want the job done right, which is why I'm going to do it myself.

My yard has never looked better with Shannon and his guys looking after it.

Shannon has been taking care of my yard for over two years now. He is always courteous and a joy to see. I would recommend him to anyone who wants a reliable and professional company to keep up their yard.

My patio is beautiful. It is so relaxing to sit on it during the evenings. I could not be happier.

My pool deck looks amazing. My pool deck was broken and not draining water off it when it rained. Shannon and his guys came in and completely redid my deck with pavers. He let me see his samples and we worked together on which pavers would look the best and be functional. He got the drains to actually do what they are meant for which is drain. He even found where my pool was leaking and fixed it. I can believe what a difference the pavers made on updating my pool area. I couldn't be happier.

Amazing customer service. The prices were very reasonable and my yard looks great! Compliments all the time.

My yard looks amazing. I now have a great patio to relax on during the evening. My sod is beautiful. I can't say enough wonderful things about Shannon and his crew.

Overall, I am happy with the way they are maintaining our property.

This is the second time I have used Southern Brothers. Communication with the manager was timely. The application was well done. The workers were diligent in the application. All the beds looked good. Further, the driveway was clean when the workers left.
