Horrible.
Description of Work: I don't even know where to begin this was such a nightmare. We had a small fire in our living room. We had a lot of smoke damage and called Restoration Specialists to tell us what to do and how to handle the mess. The morning they arrived, they came with the owner of the company and the man they hired that would be doing the work. They told us they would move everything out, have their specialists clean everything and store it all for us since we had to move out so the work could be done. From what they said, they sounded like they knew what they were doing. The morning the man arrived, he came with four other people and only one of them spoke english. While they weresupposed to be making a complete inventory of every box they packed, I was trying to pack the valuables to take with us and thethings we would need in the temporary house. After about an hour, I began walking around to check what everyone was doing and was absolutely mortified. To try and make a very long story as short as possible, I will list some of the things I noticedimmediately. The woman in the kitchen was packing my dishes and I look in the box she is packing and she is placing the glass platesdirectly at the bottom of the box with NO PACKING PAPER whatsoever. I couldn't believe it. She had no clue as how to wrapthe glassware or pack the box. I then go in the dining room where two men were packing my crystal. They were only using one sheet of the packing paper per glass item. Some of this stuff was heavy, expensive glass. I was upset enough as to the fire and the fact we had to move out,but I didn't think I had to worry about them not even having basic knowledge of what they were doing. No common sense whatsoever.I was losing my cool and walked into the garage where they had all the packing supplies they brought. There was a workerin the garage that was taping up boxes for the others to pack and packing up things in the garage. You are going love this...they brought a huge roll of bubble wrap and hadn't even brought it in the house to use for the china! But wait, there is more.On the garage floor, wrapped and taped up securely in bubble wrap was my Dirt Devil hand vacuum. I couldn't believemy eyes. These people were not bubble wrapping the glassware, but the DIRT DEVIL that isn't even breakable.I was hoping that Candid Camera was hiding somewhere and would tell me this is all a gag.Nope, it got worse. Near the end of the first day, I asked the man in charge to not forget to give me my copies of all theinventory in each box they had packed. I was hopeful that at least the inventory would be legible and accurate since there was a girl who was packing up all of our books in another room and she was listing every single book.Well, when it came to them leaving for the day, the man in charge was ready to get in his car and leave and I had to runout after him and ask for the inventory. He then said to me that he had to take it home and have his wife copy it over andhe would bring it to me the first thing the following morning. I laughed and said "You have to be kidding me. Copy it over?"I told him absolutely not and bring them in the house immediately. I then knew that something was very wrong here.He wasn't even going to give me a copy. Then he comes in and has all this mess of paperwork and we discover that NONE and I mean NONE of the dining room crystal was inventoried. None of it. Half of the kitchen inventory wasn'tthere and you could barely read half of it. The next day, I asked one of the girls about the people they have that clean up delicate things and fabrics that weresmokey looking. She looked at me as if I had asked the question in another language. She said there aren't anyspecialists to do that. We pack it up and store it in a storage unit. They don't clean it at all. What is the point of cleaningthe entire house out, stripping the walls, pulling up the carpet, repainting, etc... if none of the furnishings or items arecleaned when you move back in? It was all a lie. They said they would store our things in an air conditioned unit. They didn't.After three months, we move back in and I am unpacking boxes and was in tears as I opened each box. Nearly all of thecrystal and anything glass was broken. I mean everything. We had these large, wax candles for outdoors that are supposed to keep bugs away if we are outside on the patio in theevening and they were thrown in one of the boxes of clothes and had melted all over everything. Completely ruined.I found a large garbage can they filled up and began looking through it and they had thrown away a brand new board gamewe got as a gift that we hadn't even taken out of the package, along with many other things that they just took it uponthemselves to toss out without even asking us. They had bad attitudes, had no idea what they were doing. These people took advantage of us at such a vulnerable time. They were completely unprofessional. A kid in elementaryschool would have taken more care and had more common sense than any one of these people. Their attitude wasshocking.I could go on and on with many other incidents, but the bottom line is that we lost much more as a result of RestorationSpecialists coming into our home, than we did from the fire itself.Every box was a nightmare upon opening. Oh, almost forgot. One box that I opened had our clothes just as if they weretossed inside and on top of the clothes was the three toilet wands for cleaning the toilets in our three bathrooms.. Theywere not wrapped, they were filthy and just laying on top of the clothes. I often wonder why they didn't toss those toiletbrushes, but tossed out out a brand new game and other things that we used.I can't help but think of how many people before us and now after us have gone through the same thing. These people have no business being in business.
