We call what we do The Moment of Truth. It is the moment when the emotion of buying and selling a home meets the reality of the issues of that home. Our work is to communicate effectively, knowledgably, efficiently, and openly about the condition of a home. We understand that our customers trust us to inform and educate them about what we see and what we find, and this is a trust we hold in the highest regard.
Services we offer
real estate professionals, home buyers and home sellers with a home inspection service that brings to the buying or selling of a home unmatched quality, precision, integrity, and professionalism.
Pillar to Post's two representatives were punctual, friendly, and efficient. They were extremely detailed in their inspection and explained everything they found to us while we were there, demonstrating the issues directly when possible and describing different ways we (or the sellers) could deal with these issues. They were very clear about what was and was not a safety issue (for instance: a small dead tree in the yard did not pose a threat to the house, so they were not recommending removal, just listing it for awareness). I came away with a solid sense of what the report was going to say, and then the report was in my inbox ready for download within an hour of them leaving the site. We knew we were going to want a wind mitigation inspection to get a discount on our insurance after we bought the house, but weren't ready to pay that inspection fee. The Pillar to Post employees who came out actually took all the notes and pictures they'd need to write that report for us in the future, and told us we could just get in touch and order the report later when we were ready for it, and pay the $75 fee then. That is a big convenience for us! They also were perfectly OK with coming back on Monday (our inspection was a Friday afternoon) to get a water sample for the quality test, since the lab doesn't take samples on Fridays, and did not charge extra to us for the second trip. The only things that I found less-than-stellar about the experience both pertained to the process of selecting which inspection types we wanted. We expected to get an email from Pillar to Post right after our realtor booked with them, but it took them four days to send the email with the link to select services (after our realtor followed up multiple times) so we didn't know what we were going to get or how much it would cost until the morning of the inspection. This may have always been the intended timeline and the confusion over how long we'd be waiting may have been a miscommunication involving our realtor. Also, I am 95% sure that when I got the list of "additional services" the wind mitigation inspection was listed as $85 or $95 (so I didn't select it, since I knew another place that would do it for $75 later), but then in person the Pillar to Post folks said it would cost only $75. I don't like the idea that I would have paid a premium for selecting it ahead of time! All in all, I would never hesitate to use them again or to recommend them to a friend. Those minor issues I mentioned were REALLY minor and I feel very confident in their depth of inspection and pleased with the level and efficiency of service they provided.
Description of Work: Provided a home inspection, water quality testing, and prepared to provide a wind mitigation inspection for when we wanted to order that report on the home we have under contract.

Description of Work: ken wilson did a home inspection for me. the house is 1750 sq ft and he spent approx. 4 hrs. without a break on the inspection. he was very thorough going up into the attic checking insulation wiring rafters etc. he checked all wiring and plumming where possible through out the house ,he checked all appliances, bath fixtures, kitchen sinks, cabinets carpeting, air and heat, he climb on the roof and thoroughly inspected the condition of the shingles and if there had been any previous repair patches done. i dont think he missed an inch of the house and very reasonably priced. i would use him again and recommend him to anybody.

They were very good and very thorough. They charged me about $400 for their services. They came over and did a room by room inspection of all the electrical, plumbing if it applied like the bathrooms and the kitchen, the air conditioning unit, roof and the floors. They crawled underneath the house, went up in the attic and they went everywhere around the house. They did a complete room by room evaluation of everything including the windows, air leaks and electrical outlets to make sure all of them worked. In fact, one didn't and it shorted out. So, they said that it had to be put in backwards. That was very helpful while buying this house. Their price was average. They weren't cheap or expensive; they were kind of in the middle. So, they were good. When it comes to their responsiveness, they came immediately. I think I waited half a day or a day and they were right there. They were here when they said they were coming. Their professionalism was very good. I have recommended them as well.
Description of Work: Pillar to Post did home inspection prior to the purchase of this house in January of 2004.
