Matt's Maintenance & Remodeling

Description of Work: Unfortunately I did not have the work done because I used a general contractor for other work performed through an insurance claim. However, I would use this company for work in the future. He was very professional and fair.

Description of Work: I contacted Matt, saying I had purchased the deal and wanted an estimate to repaint some crown molding that was in high cove ceiling and to replace a can light fixture with an different fixture I had already purchased. After quite a while and few emails back and forth, Matt was talking about best days to schedule the work and I decided that it would be ok. Then one morning he showed up with his crew, saying we had agreed on that day. We had not picked a day and time, but it seemed foolish to turn them away. The two jobs were very nicely done, but the painter was not happy with how the coverage was going and ended up doing four coats. I had painted the other woodwork and was able to cover in two, but there was more time in between coats. In the end the work was well done, but the cost was higher than I would have chosen for those two tasks. I might have picked a different way to use the deal had I gotten an estimate.

Description of Work: replaced bathroom counter top, wash basin, plumbing fixtures. Repair toilet valve. Replaced pull-chain light fixture and other minor tasks. |Everything went o.k.

Description of Work: We used the services of Matt's Maintenance and Remodeling. They did plastering on the ceiling.

Description of Work: I originally purchased the service quite some time ago but had considerably more than $300 worth of repairs that were needed. I was rather cash poor at the time so just had him do one urgent repair which was to replace one of the screens on our patio so that our cat couldn't keep escaping. I told him I would get in touch with him when I was ready for the rest of the work. This was about the end of Jan or early Feb. This time it took quite quite a while for him to get to me and he did not seem interested in doing many of the services we need to have done before selling our house. He felt it would be better to wait until closer to the time we will be selling our house in 1 1/2 to 2 years. That made sense for some things but not for repairing the scar on our ceiling from a previous water leak. He finally came out with one employee and they did a few odd jobs. They fixed a leaking toilet, shaved the bottom off a door, and made a couple of patches in dry wall. The patches weren't finished as one needed more sparkle and both needed paint. They were here for an hour to an hour and a half. He promised to call with an estimate on a couple of the other things I needed done in the near future. I haven't heard from him since. I'm not even sure I got my $300 worth of services.

Description of Work: I wanted Matt to do the bathroom grout and he began to tell me that it might not come completely clean or white (something that did not sound very encouraging) so I changed my mind about that and talked to him about doing some other job in the house. A few days later, having some uneasiness as I did not feel very comfortable with Matt, I changed my order to having his men do some work outside instead. I considered that it was a prudent compromise. At some point soon after, Matt called and I sensed that he was somehow displeased that I changed my mind about the work order, which made me even more nervous about him and his men. I have a right to change my mind even to the last minute as far as accommodating my comfort zone. I had asked him to give me a week or two to think about some other work his men could do. Finally, we exchanged 2 or 3 emails as to fixing my carport light and he responded and we worked out some details (the number of men to have on the job). His last email to me was August 4th and I responded on the 6th asking for him to suggest a date for the work to be done. After not hearing from him for a week, I sent another email on August 15-which was 12 days ago. He never responded. (I still have all the emails we exchanged which I can forward to you if you need or want to see them. I appreciate Angie's List (Megan called me to find out how things went-not so good!) Description of Work: Matt was very professional. Answered phone right away and came by same week to give me estimates. I had him start by working on some rooms over our barn that needed insulation removed and replaced and am also going to use him for some kitchen remodeling and some outside wall repair work.
