Technician came out and replaced a bad bearing in a dryer, tech did suggested additional parts, which require spending more that the dryer cost. He said it might go years without a problem if not replaced. We did the basic repairs and heard a pounding noise after the tech left. Called back, and was told by the service manger, who by the way, has a real attitude problem and may cost this company much desired business. He told us that we did not do the recommend repairs, which the tech said was ok not to do. The service manager did not feel a need or have a desire to stand behind the work they did. Bottom line, they do not stand behind their repairs and the service manger is rude. Be careful if you use them for appliance repair. We suggest that you call Cornerstone Appliance Repair 352-454-3607.

I went to their store with my part that I needed in order to fix my washer. They were unable to match the part but took the time to see if there were alternatives, which there wasn't but overall I felt that they did the best the could and didn't try to brush me off. I will use them in the future for other repairs that are not so problematic.

Gary Martin is a liar and a thief. I first came to Gainesville in 2011 after I had separated from my husband, came here with 3 kids and moved into a fixer-upper. I had to do all the remodeling myself, on a shoestring budget. One day as I was going to Home Depot I saw a used stove in front of Martin's Appliances that I thought would work for me. I went in and explained my situation and told them that I was not ready to pick it up yet because I had yet to remodel the kitchen, and it might be 2-3 months before I could get it. Gary Martin was very friendly and encouraged me to buy it, promising he would hold on to it as long as it took, so I paid for it. (I didn't want to take it home because being in the middle of moving and remodeling, I already had too many materials and moving boxes in the house, I was jammed). Gary Martin made me sign a contract and I noticed the fine print said that if I did not pick within 30 days, I would lose the appliance. I pointed that out, and he said, not to worry about it that's just their standard contract, and he would hold on to it for me as long as it took. I put a line through that clause just in case. A month later I saw my stove again out on the sidewalk with a for sale sign on it. I went in and told them that was my stove, I had already paid for it. Gary Martin was not there at the time but the employee said he would talk to the owner about it. I got worried about it so a few days later I went to pick it up. This time I was not greeted with the phony, welcoming politeness with which I had been greeted before, this time it was pure disdain from the start. I was told that I had abandoned my appliance and he didn't know where it was now, probably at the other shop on Main Street, but in any case I had no right to come in demanding it since it had been over 30 days. I said I would go to the Main Street shop myself and pick it up but he refused to let me do so, saying it was too late, I had abandoned it, I had no rights. When I threatened to take him to court him over it, he said I should turn around and go home and maybe if he felt like it he may mail me a check for whatever amount he saw fit. He eventually sent me a check for $200, pocketing the remaining $79 plus tax, just enough to keep me from taking him to court, knowing it would cost me more than that to fight it. Still in the middle of a major remodel and being the single mom of 3 kids including a foster child, I didn't have the energy to pursue it any further. SHAME ON GARY MARTIN for taking advantage of someone in that situation! Sti

I don't remember the exact date the service technician was here from Martin Appliances, but it several months ago. My daughter had overloaded our front loading Kenmore washing machine. When it was running and hit the spin cycle, it started making an extremely loud and grinding noise. After stopping the washing machine, and taking out all the wet clothes, it still made the sound and I figured that a gear or similar had been stripped. We called Martin Appliances the next day and they came out for service. We explained the problem and the tech thought he knew what it could be. He took apart the washing machine housing, and found a sock that got spun out of the tub into some mechanism. He removed the sock, put it back together, and it ran fine. We've been using it for months now and have not had any problems. I was charged $90 for the service call and labor time, which is a bargain, especially when you consider that since we didn't know anything about washing machines, the tech could have said it was anything and charged us accordingly. The tech simply fixed what was really wrong, and was finished in less than an hour from arrival to departure. I will be calling them again when I need an appliance repaired.

Badly
Description of Work: The owner was the most arrogant, discourteous, and unprofessional business person I have ever encountered. He treated like dog poop on the bottom of his shoe. This is not a recent encounter. Perhaps the biz has been passed on to the next generation.

Many years ago this company had provided me with a nice refrigerator on an emergency basis and I was very grateful. Two additional times I then went back to them when needing major appliances. Since I had been so happy with their first choice of appliance, I went with their recommendation on my second visit. I had trouble with and disliked the washer/dryer recommendation they had. If I ahd problems, their only response was, "Gee, we haven't heard that. You should contact the company." They had also chosen their top-of-the line product. I gave them one more chance when I moved into a new house and need a washer/dryer and refrigerator. I had problems with the washer/dryer almost immediately and was referred to the manufacturer, with no assistance from the store. Problems continued. I then had what I thought was a rather strange problem with the washer. I was getting hundreds of little pieces of what looked like crushed leaves in the bottom of the washer, and thus also in my clothes. I called them a couple of times and was told they never heard of such a problem and perhaps I had leaves in my pockets from working in the yard. (Absurd) I finally collected a bag of these pieces and literally drove the 20 miles to the store to show them. The owner just once again said he had never seen such a thing and that they were probably pieces of yard debris from my pockets. I finally saw a commercial about how a residue can form on the outside of the washing drum itself and should try Tide Washer Cleaner. Since the problem had gone on so long and there was so much debris, I initially used that product 3 days in a row and then rather frequently. The pieces disappeared and I now use the product as directed. Just to think that these people had no clue is amazing! And, once again, they had recommended the top of the line appliances, the most costly, and I followed their recommendations. (I spent about $3000 on the last 3 appliances listed above.) Also, I had received an email about purchasing an extended warranty that would be honored by the store itself. I purchased it, but then the store said they knew nothing about such thing and there was no such warranty. I give up! I will NEVER use them again. I am stuck with expensive appliances once again that have not worked well for me and been treated with nothing but disdain and disbelief by Gary Martin.

The actual washer visit was on time, quick, and I think a fair price.
Description of Work: They came out to replace a part on my washer. My previous experience with them has always been great. This time, he tried to diagnosis my washer over the phone and talked me through a few things to try to fix it myself. I am a woman, but they have twice talked me through repairing my own appliances(a dryer and oven) when I came in to buy parts. They would give lots of advice, even drew my a picture of my dryer, never treated me 'dumb' and highly encouraged me trying to fix them my self. Because of this, I did it right, and saved my self lots of money! I am a very loyal customer now.
