Description of Work: My 33 year old bathtub needed replacing. It had to be demolished, new durrock wall board put up, new tub installed, re-plumbed, re-tiled (new tiles). I also had several "honey do" electrical work projects done (new lighting in dining room, new switches and face plates in hallway and living room, new hall light, new vent fans in both bathrooms), so holes in the ceiling had to be patched and plastered too. They were respectful of my request not to start before 8:30 AM. The best part is that I have a new clean bathroom.

Let me first say my husband and I are serial remodelers and we have done several similar projects. This was by far our best experience! Shawn and Drew were fantastic to work with throughout the project and very easy to reach by phone, text and email. They were extremely helpful during the design phase as they truly listened to our wants and needs. They offered great ideas and were genuinely interested in making our home our dream home. We were constantly updated with schedule and pictures of the progress (as we were not yet living in Gainesville). They have a great team of workers, everyone was extremely kind and helpful. Several issues from previous owners A/C work were discovered by the crew during the renovation. We immediately received pictures via email and a phone call to discuss the problem. My husband commented that it would have been very easy and convenient for them to ignore this problem and cover it up. He was really impressed that they took the time to point this out and go above and beyond to fix this problem that would have cost us more money in the future had it not been take care of. The quality of the work was excellent everything turned out better than we could have imagined. My husband was amazed how clean and organized the house was kept and blown away with the attention to details. These guys were so polite and professional. I never write reviews and can't say enough about Golden Hammer!
Description of Work: We bought a foreclosure and had it completely renovated. The project included completely gutting the kitchen and baths, all new moldings and doors, paint, flooring, light fixtures, moved walls, raised ceiling...

Our MRI center underwent a serious renovation follow the purchase of a new high field scanner. The renovation involved demolition of an exterior wall to remove the old scanner. The new scanner was installed and the exterior wall was rebuilt with a new 5x8 window. The wall was built to blend in with the old exterior seamlessly. Golden Hammer Inc. worked with another construction company to replace the existing wall and install the new window. In addition to the structural changes, Golden Hammer Inc. designed and remodeled the lobby, kitchen/staff break room and bathroom in the office. Their designs were contemporary, yet timeless and gave our office a beautiful sophisticated look that fit very well with our new scanner. They found materials that fit within our budget but also made our office unique and beautiful. The changes made to the bathroom really brought it up to date and we feel more than comfortable that we can accommodate our patients. The renovations were exactly what we asked for ascetically, but they also met the standards set by the MRI manufacturer. A highlight of the remodel was a custom desk that Golden Hammer Inc. built for the technologists. The granite matched the paint and flooring and also housed the necessary equipment for the MRI techs. The custom cabinets allowed us to store our medical supplies, radio and computer out of sight of our patients. The desk is stunning, but its function was not compromised. At our Open Houses we have received many compliments on the desk. It is now a focal point in our office. If anyone is interested in stopping by the office to see the renovation our offices are located in the Millennium Center, 4340 Newberry Road, Gainesville, FL 32607. You are always welcome.

Shawn did excellent work on my chimney repair. The chimney structure was rotten from water damage and most of the frame had to be replaced along with the hardy board siding on the outside. Shawn came in and gave me a quote on the job very quickly and efficiently. The job was done on on time and is now structured better than the original construction. I will definitely hire Goldhammer again. And hoping Shawn gives me great price on my next job because I'm giving such an excellent review ;) !

Shawn and his team did an excellent job with our remodel job. Although the job did take longer than expected we were kept informed at every step and delays were mostly due to deliveries of ordered materials. Shawn made sure that the job site was kept clean and that we were able to continue normal activities as best we could under the circumstances. When little problems appeared Shawn handled with great professionalism and we felt he had good experience, knowledge and managerial skill to insure that the end result was of a very high quality. We have no qualms about recommending Golden Hammer.

Because there was a lot of prep work to be done, Shawn scheduled things so that I was able to keep the kitchen in working condition until the last minute. He had the new electrical service put in, the plumbing redone, in short order. There was a delay when the "walls came down" of course so I was without the kitchen for a couple of weeks. He did a really good job of scheduling things so that time was used well and I had a functional kitchen without much delay.. I don't remember all the details but they were here working everyday until the job was done. Not only did I feel like the work proceeded at a good rate, i reported a possible problem about a month after and Shawn had someone come and check it out immediately--it turned out to be nothing and I haven't experience the same thing again.. And I have to say that he has always been very nice, very pleasant and willing to do whatever it takes to be sure that I am satisfied with his work. I would recommend him to anyone who needs remodeling done.
Description of Work: Shawn Verdream of Golden Hammer, Inc remodeled my kitchen--although it was more than remodeling. My house is 66 years old and constructed with concrete block interior walls. These presented unusual problems during the remodel. Electrical and plumbing had to be brought up to date and the walls made that quite a problem. In earlier "remodels" things were sort of jerry rigged--electrical outlets and plumbing installed outside the walls for instance. Now they are inside where they should be. it's lovely. Moreover, when they took the cabinets down, the plaster finish on the walls behind them turned loose from the concrete so the walls had to be repaired--actually remade. Move over, they had to close in a interior door and an exterior window and they came up with .creative ways of doing both so the outside and the other side of the door did not look patched. For instance, the door now opens into what I use as my broom closet. I must say that I was thoroughly satisfied with everything about the experience with him and his workmen. They were all very nice and the work was done in six weeks in spite of the unanticipated problems. He has stood behind his work and came immediately when a minor problem did develop.

I can't tell you how easy they were to work with. I expected headaches from beginning to end due to the usual problems with dealing with general contractors, but not with Golden Hammer. They were pleasant, easy to work with, and most of all, left my parents with a glowing smile about their new bathroom. Can't say thanks enough!!

I used Golden Hammer in the past with great success and looked forward to another great experience. Things did not go well from the very beginning. After finding the home I planned to purchase I called to arrange to meet there to discuss renovations and take measurements so that materials could be ordered so there would be minimal delay once I closed on the house. I ended up selling my other home quickly and moved in while still under construction. I was without a kichen for more than 4 months primarily because the general contractor did not order my cabinets, even though I made arrangements to meet with both him and the cabinet provider at least a month before construction began. The explanation for this error was "I thought you were taking care of it". I am not sure what purpose a contractor has if it is assumed that the customer is doing all the legwork. Pieces of the lower trim started falling off my cabinets within 2 years of completion. Thank goodness for Gorilla glue. Since completion virtually every single piece of plumbing that was installed has had to be repaired (three sinks and one toilet). I am now in the middle of having to have my jet tub removed to repair the leak that is under there. To identify this problem alone has cost me $350 in addition to the $212 water bill. I don't have an estimate of what this repair will cost but will update my posting once I know. There was a great deal of nonchalonce in every aspect from time management, to quality, to supervision of subcontractors. I continue to find sloppy work that I have to pay to be repaired. This is after the renovation cost exceeded the quoted estimate by more than 8k

To whom it may concern, I am shocked to see this negative report and wished I knew of this situation prior. I will admit to a major delay in the cabinetry delivery and installation. This job was almost 5 years ago and the economy and construction industry were completely different than what they are today. At that time, there were too many construction projects for the amount of workers available. Projects took longer and were scheduled accordingly from the beginning. The cabinet salesperson I used at the time had been my salesperson for almost 2 years. I knew him very well, trusted what he did and said, and relied on him heavily. He was also the same salesperson that remodeled her prior kitchen less than a year before (2006) without any problems. The salesperson is responsible for the design and ordering of the cabinetry and seeing the cabinets through the installation. Unfortunately, the cabinetry was not ordered when it was supposed to be and caused several weeks delay to the job. I will take responsibility for not following up and verifying exact order date. I have since implemented a new system where we do not start ANY work until the cabinets are delivered and in our showroom. The customer was not without a kitchen for 4 months and I did not say it was her responsibility to order the cabinets. The customer has no part in ordering the cabinetry. The job was estimated and the contract was signed on July 31, 2007 and final payment was received on October 3, 2007. I will be happy to show the customers project folder to anyone interested. I always stand behind all of my work. This is the first I knew of ANY issues with this project and it is almost 5 years later. I never received a call, text or email from the customer and I am very easy to get in contact with. We never have callbacks or repair issues but would be happy to fix anything our customers have a problem with. Honesty, I am truly sorry you are not in love with your remodel and wished you had given me the opportunity to correct your issues.
