It went better than I expected! Their selection of fabrics is excellent, and they were up-front about what would be involved and the cost incurred. Fair warning, it isn't "cheap", but it is a good value. This ended up being a total re-furbishing of the pieces, including pads and re-tying of supports. The job was completed more quickly than either they (or I, for that matter) anticipated. A year later, both the materials and workmanship are holding up very well under the wear from 2 cats and a teenage boy.

I had a well made FAVORITE swivel easy chair that needed to be re-covered and improved with firm padding. The owner explained everything they could do and what the cost would be. I looked at every fabric in their store (lots and lots) and found the perfect one for my living room. It was thick and high quality, so it cost a little more than some of the other fabrics, but the owner informed me that it would last basically forever. I have a bad back and wanted to keep this chair because it fits me well. They had me go to their workshop before the work was completed, just to be sure it was padded well where I wanted it to be. That visit proved they could add just a little more to the back in order to support my bad back better and allow my short legs to be more comfortable. They made a high quality chair even better than it originally was! It is now a beautiful piece of furniture and I am very comfortable in it. My husband and I are extremely happy with their skillful work and professionalism.

Description of Work: The company restored an old office chair to new condition using fine quality fabric and padding. They refinished the cherry arms and pedestal. They |did the work quickly and enabled my husband to continue to use his favorite chair for some more years. They are lovely people. The business also sells a good variety of fabrics suitable for upholstery and draperies. This company has reupholstered several of our chairs throughout the years and all of their work has been excellent. I highly recommend Coronet Fabrics.

Very unprofessional! |They were horrible returning phone calls and didn't communicate with us for MONTHS after we agreed to use their upholstery services. When they finally called to get started, we told them "no thank you" because we went with someone else who was prompt, courteous, and very professional. We were yelled at and told we were stupid. Needless to say, we DO NOT recommend them to anyone for any reason.

Excellent work. I was reluctant about using this company because I read one negative report onr Angies. However, I watched this company while they took a 100 year old love seat cushion and made it new. I saw many interior designers and people having their chairs and couches re-upholstered by 5 very experienced people... from seamstress to refurbishing wood and repair. This is an excellent company!!! Our love seat cushion turned out fantasic and now everyone wants to sit in the new love seat. .I highly recommend this company.

Originally met w/owner in 2010 to see if it was possible to have our sofa/loveseat sectional and quot;recreated.and quot; I wanted fabric as close to original as possible, keeping the modern look intact, and also to have the support in the pieces rebuilt. I took a seat cushion along, as well as measurements/drawings and several photos. Coronet didn't have fabric that I wanted to use, and Herb told me then I was and quot;too picky.and quot; Should have picked up on this clue. He looked at my drawing and my cushion and said that they could do what I wanted. If I provided fabric, he estimated around $1700 for the job, saying it could vary some, depending on what they found when the actual pieces were examined and what kind of cushion replacement we decided upon. A year later, I found a fabric and brought a large sample (a couple of yards) to him to make sure it was appropriate and they could work with it. He approved the fabric and we began planning the job. Herb estimated 37 yds. of material needed, and I purchased fabric from Boca Bargoons in Jax, fabric considered appropriate for furniture upholstery by the seller, who not only upholsters, but builds furniture --had fabric scissor-tested, burn-tested for pulling/tearing/etc. by my interior designer. Time was not an issue (as long as it wasn't unreasonable), and we agreed (still with a rough estimate of $1700) that Coronet would pick up my pieces 9/8/11. Randy (Herb's son) did the pickup and we went over what I expected. My husband suggested backing the fabric, and Randy said they could have that done (sent out). We assumed they meant having some sort of cloth backing applied. I stressed importance of firming up the seating base. Randy suggested foam cushions for back ( originals were some down blend, I believe), and I agreed to that (a mistake on my part in terms of final look and feel of sofas, though not in itself a wrong suggestion--simply misguided to get the look/feel of the original I wanted to replicate). He said they would get back in touch w/a clearer idea on final price once backing was contracted. Called--The backing would cost extra $125 and, now that they had the sofa to see what they were working with, it would be a couple hundred more for the upholstery, since we were replacing all the cushions. When the finished pieces were delivered on 10/27, I had a hard time recognizing the pieces I sent out--the fabric was beautiful, but the sofa and loveseat looked structurally like something I might have bought at DeepDiscountFurniture--overstuffed, square foam seat and back cushions of visibly uneven proportion, a hugely visible seam on the top of the loveseat back (not originally there), a visible line where covering wasn't evenly brought down when wrapping the bottom piece of the sofa, some lumpy areas, and an odd coloration along the sides of the cushions--which I discovered to be caused by using green and blue foam (????) used for the cushions (one of which was made from foam pieces glued together) and not wrapping all the way around (I have since been told that not wrapping the sides is not uncommon in less expensive upholstered pieces, but my original cushions were totally enclosed in a quilted cloth cover underneath the upholstery fabric. Nobody uses green or blue foam, though.) Importantly, there was no improvement in the seating support. And the pieces had not been treated w/fabric protector. Randy and his assistant sprayed the pieces w/ForceField fabric protector (you can buy online for $14.95/22 oz. I was charged $20 ea. for 2 cans). This was done in my house -- assuring me that it was safe to do so (they wore masks) and we were told to not sit on the cushions for 24 hrs. This kept us from even trying the sofa out until the next day. Randy also brought back and quot;lotsand quot; of fabric--maybe $100 worth. They took complete payment and left. I contacted Herb a few days later to register my dissatisfaction, and after a bit of an irate reaction, he agreed to come out and see. Our meeting was difficult--he was defensive and at first unwilling to acknowledge validity in my complaints. I was told I was unreasonable (though none of my expectations were labeled unreasonable when I was hiring them to do the job), I was told and quot;that's the way it's done, and quot; when my designer, w/a reasonable knowledge of the standards and possibilities, disagreed, and was also told and quot;everybody makes mistakes.and quot; My ideal solution would have been to have gotten my money back and let Coronet have the sofa and loveseat, but Herb said he couldn't do that. Instead, they would take the pieces back and fix the problems. My husband and I agreed and together we all made a list for the redo--make sure the cushions were same size and interchangeable, wrap cushions all around so foam was enclosed, no seam on back of loveseat and fixing the profiles of the two pieces so they fit properly together as a unit, fixing lumpy and lined areas, and fixing the springs/support from underneath. Coronet picked up the pieces 11/17 and re-delivered on 11/23. My designer and I made a trip up there before they re-delivered to check, and, while we found much correction, the cushions still did not sit and quot;equallyand quot; and the support didn't feel stronger. We noted that. We noticed poor lighting in work area--maybe part of their problem? The re-done sofas, while better than first pass, were still unsatisfactory. A friend who had no idea about background or problems was there when delivered, and she tried the sofa out first. She noted a difference in the way each of seat cushions sat, and a softness in middle, as did I. Randy and assistant say they didn't notice anything. --oh, and his assistant said and quot;I think it looks pretty good.and quot; Again, the sofa sagged in the middle--springs still not retied? And now there was a squeak when you sat down--not there before. When I said that I wasn't feeling satisfied, Randy suggested I try it out a couple of days and call them and they could come get it again I wasn't satisfied after a few days or even a few weeks. But I couldn't see sending them back again--why would I send it back for more of the same, if two tries couldn't fix it,and I don't imagine Coronet would look forward to yet another opportunity to work on these pieces. I've decided to accept and live with it; I no longer have the will to pursue, and don't want an even more adversarial situation.I expect the sofas to be serviceable, though not the quality I expected. I don't like giving negative reviews, but I don't feel I got the job I contracted. I was a clear as I possibly could be as to what I wanted. I proceeded carefully, giving Coronet every opportunity to be clear with me as to what they are able to do. As I laid out my desires and expectations and asked if these were reasonable, possible, and producible, I was met w/assurances that it was all good, not to worry, and they had a reputation and years of experience. I believe I hired the wrong company to do the type of work I was looking for. They may do less complicated jobs easily and are probably more familiar with traditional style upholstery than modern. That's why I give a and quot;Cand quot; for quality of work--they may be okay in many cases. But the experience was not positive for me--I felt like I was not heard and that the job was done to their specifications and liking rather than mine. And, even though they made an attempt to mitigate, the adversarial attitude was a put-off. I felt like every point I raised was seen as a battleground of your-or-my win rather than offering opportunities for a discussion or negotiation. I don't like to do business in that kind of atmosphere. In all fairness, though, I do appreciate that Herb tried to make it right.
Description of Work: Reupholstered sectional sofa (sofa and armless loveseat). Contracted to retie springs, if needed,--to reconstruct support, to replace cushions and reupholster in fabric I supplied; to treat finished pieces for stain & soil resistance. I wanted the redone pieces to as closely resemble originals as possible, and was assured this was all possible.

The quality of their work is pretty decent, although the cornice they just hung for me is a bit uneven, but they took forever to complete both of my two (small) jobs. A month on the first one and 3 1/2 weeks on the second job, when I was told "a couple of weeks" for both jobs. I did not get a written estimate from them when they came to my house to measure and the final bill was more than we agreed on originally. I had requested any leftover fabric and received none. All in all, I'm fairly happy with the final product but wasn't the best experience dealing with them and the best rating I can give is a C.

Cushions came out beautiful. I wanted them by a certain day, as I was going out of town, and they had them ready a day early. They were perfect. I will definitely return to this business.

I called Coronet Fabric Mills in a panic on a Friday afternoon after my handyman failed miserably at the job. The owner came right out and was able to complete the work the very next day, a Saturday, within a couple of hours. Then he came back to my store and attached the cushions himself even though this wasn't expected. I have since had more work done and was again quite pleased. These people are the best. Look no further!! Jan Fronk
Description of Work: Reupholster 17 chair bottoms for vintage wrought iron chairs to be used in my new coffee shop at Book Gallery West. Most were round or oval but not perfectly so which made the job that much harder.
