+ -1 moreComfort Temp came highly recommended. They removed old HVAC system from inside residence and installed new system, including water heater, to garage. Estimator was responsive and worked hard to ensure I was beyond satisfied with the job, from prompt receipt of the estimate to final completion and permitting of job. I sought estimates from three companies before going with Comfort Temp. Installers were professional and informative during removal of old system and install of new system. They reviewed all available options and addressed all of my questions and concerns. Plumbers installed extra valves at my request (without up charge) so that I could subsequently install outdoor sink. Total job time was less than 48 hours. System placement was appropriate, new gas lines and piping insulation looks clean and well designed, outdoor unit was moved to a new location that is significantly quieter from inside the residence. I highly recommend and will continue to do business with this company.

From Jay, the salesman, to all of the crew from both companies, the job was expertly completed. I would highly recommend them to anyone. My prayer is that I can afford to run both of them in this 104 year old house.
Description of Work: Our two story house had 2 old propane central heating systems that needed replacing. It had never had central air. Comfort Temp installed a 5 ton heat pump downstairs and a 3 ton unit upstairs. Also, with help from there sub-contractors put in a new electrical service and box connected to the existing panel.

+ -1 moreThis was the second time that I've worked with Jay Bowermeister at Comfort Temp (the previous time was completely replacing the HVAC system on another house). He's always been exceptionally professional — he usually picks up the phone or calls back right away, and when he doesn't, I have never had to wait more than 24 hours to speak with him. The prices seem pretty standard for a reputable HVAC company (the first job's cost was really close to other quotes I received approximately 16 months ago), but the service is top notch. Well, we weren't expecting a $5,000 bill this time around, so we waited about a year to save up some money before scheduling the service. I called him about 3 weeks ago, and they came out last Monday to begin the installation. Due to a couple of emergency calls they responded to, the job ended up taking a total of 9 days (Monday through the following Tuesday), but we had functioning AC each evening, so it really wasn't that much of an inconvenience. The two guys who came each day to crawl up into the attic were just as professional as Jay, and they cleaned up at the end of each day. Another pair of workers who showed up one day to help with some of the heavy lifting weren't quite as professional (they left some trash like an empty styrofoam cup and some wrappers lying by their car), and one of them promptly fell through our ceiling upon climbing up into the crawlspace, but Jay and I came to a fair agreement to cover the cost of repairs. I plan on using Comfort Temp for all HVAC jobs on my personal house and any other homes I renovate in the future.
Description of Work: Our old ducts' insulation had broken down, and they had begun to sweat, further deteriorating their condition. I called up Comfort Temp, and they came out the next day to take a look. All the existing ducts had to be replaced, and we decided to move a few supply vents around and add returns to each bedroom. The estimate came out just under $5,000.

Description of Work: We purchased a York air conditioning 5 ton unit back in 2012. With this purchase comes a warranty of 10 yrs labor,parts,coil. 25 yr heat exchanger and lifetime compressor. We are diligent with our scheduled maintenance. Our troubles with the unit started last spring with a leak. The leak was supposedly fix and the unit operated sufficiently all summer. During this spring's maintenance check it was noted that are unit was not working. Upon a second check another leak was detected and the replacement part was ordered. The leak was so bad that our unit was running out of refrigerant in less than 24 hours. We were told they can't keep refilling it so sent a technician out to temporarily fix the leak until our part arrives. Our part arrived almost one week after ordered, but comfort temp had to refuse shipment from York due to a damaged box. I called a few times to check on status of the part and the blame was put on york's lack of responsiveness. I called comfort temp again one week after the replacement was refused and still nothing. I was very upset and disappointed with this news. I was called back an hour later and was told that's was in luck at the part just arrived (this was a Friday late morning) and was told that a technician would be at home on Monday to do the repair at 10:00. So, today is Monday and at 11:30 no one had arrived. I called comfort temp to see if someone was in fact coming and was told that I never had an appointment in the schedule and that our part had not even arrived yet. I was shocked and disappointed with this response and did not in the least receive a bit of empathy and was told that no one in their office would have told me what I had just explained. The only thing comfort temp can say is that it's all on York. If York is such poor quality why were we ever sold this unit? So now we're stuck with a poor quality unit with a warranty that doesn't mean much. Comfort temp did call me back a few minutes later to offer the tracking number of our part and was told someone would be here as soon as it gets off the truck. It is now 2:30, and still nothing. Beyond frustrated and disappointed.

+ -1 moreJay Bowermeister took time to carefully inspect the system, and gave me proposals for five possible systems, ranging from replacing both furnace and AC with high-efficiency units to merely replacing the AC by a 13-SEER unit. He was quickly responsive, both on phone and email. He also showed up at the start of the job to show the technicians (led by Chris) details of what was needed and checked everything at the end. I was very impressed by the professionalism of all three of them, and likewise that of Gene Pinner, the excellent technician who first had checked our old unit and explained carefully and fully all the problems with it. I can understand now why Comfort Temp has such an excellent reputation in Gainesville.

It was $700 but I actually got back most of it under the GRU of the electric company rebate for having it done and the system was of certain age so it leaked around all the vets and they were of different standards to pay for sealing it so they brought up the standard pressure test. They are good. The serviceman is Steve and he is really good. They do a great job and they are professional. He will come whenever I call him. I would like to tell my family and friends to call Steve and have him come out and give them an evaluation and I got it from another place but when I did they were a lot more.
Description of Work: I have used Comfort Temp Company to release the open ventilation system and had pressure test on it.

+ -1 moreFirst came the estimator, who was already very impressive: knowledgeable, courteous, able to answer all my questions. Then came the crew: neatly uniformed, efficient, tidy. The work was done in exactly the time frame forecast and they removed all the old units, even the attic one which was a challenge as it had to be taken apart before it could be maneuvered through a narrow hatch. It has been almost a year since the installation and all components have performed well. They are light-years more efficient than the 22-year-old ones they replaced! To top it off, we were previously compelled to teeter on a 10-foot ladder to change the filter in the master bedroom return (!!!) -- Comfort Temp's new system's filters are inside the units and changed by Comfort Temp every 6 months when they come to do the seasonal service for their units, no more need to risk our necks or theirs! I have highly recommended Comfort Temp to our local friends. They are not cheap, but they are worth their price.

+ -1 moreWe have been very, very disappointed with the unit we got -- a Lennox. The salesman talked us into getting a large, top of the line unit b/c we were going to do some remodeling/expanding of the house. Come the first winter, the heating unit absolutely roars -- it is in the attic, right by our bedroom, makes the fan turn, wakes us up. We're told it's because we haven't done the remodeling yet. We do it. Still same problem. Service guys have come out many times to adjust pins and vents etc., etc. The thing is a monster. It roars. Then come the summer. Cooling doesn't reach our bedroom; a shunt has to be installed. Now the east half of the house is cool, but not the west half. More guys coming out to mess with settings. We spend more money on an additional return on the east side of the house. It's better, but still not perfect. Wish we had gotten better advice about possibly moving the unit elsewhere in the attic when we bought it; or that we had gotten a unit that worked as well as the old one we had, with which we had no problems with heating or cooling. It just wasn't energy efficient, that's why we replaced. Comfort Temp sold us a dud; or didn't give us the right advice, and couldn't make it right . . .
