I had a master bathroom remodeled in the spring of 2011 by Atlantic Design, who I picked because a friend of mine used to work there. The good: The subcontractors (tile, plumbing, dry wall, and painting) all did good work, particularly the tile work was well done and an exterior window removal & reinstall was done very well. The bad: Atlantic did not manage the subs well and did not inform/contact me first of ordering changes. For example, a very large over order on tile (because the sub "thought it would be necessary") was made and billed out to me without consulting/telling me. When I brought this to job supervisor's attention on the back end, he said "how do you think I feel? I'm the customer too." Since I paid for all of the materials, I'm pretty sure he was NOT the customer. The coordination of the subs was also poorly done, with days or even a week between people showing up multiple times because of "other" job commitments that Atlantic had, which I can only assume meant higher paying customers. The remodel of my master bathroom took 3 months in an 1800 ft2 house and cost just over $31,000. All my material selections were mid-tier, I didn't get any groutless tile, tile the walls, or buy $1000 fixtures. They did not give me an estimate when I requested initially and suggested their "pay as you go" model was far more advantageous for both parties. That was my fault for not forcing the issue and getting the estimate, because the total cost was about 2X what a similarly size master bath remodel cost my friend with comparable materials. Small touch-ups/fixes were done by the super, not the subs, to avoid having to pull the subs back in and incur additional cost for Atlantic, but for which I had already paid. The touch-ups were noticeably substandard work whenever that was the case, which was very disappointing. I cannot recommend them as they were deficient in too many areas, too often.
