Around Jan 20, 2014, I called to have a leak repaired to our Leisure Bay Spa and to order a Spa cover. All Clear Pool and Spa Shop, Inc has done work for me before on the same Spa tub. The two repairmen came out on Jan 22, but didnt have their vacuum to drain the spa nor the pvc pipe to repair the leak so they had to charge me for a "service call". ($75) (This had happened the first time they fixed a repair (a couple of years before)- no supplies and a service call cost.) They used my hose to fill the tank a bit to see where the leak was. They noticed flay in the tub and thought it might be a well problem but I later determined the flay was from the inside of an old hose. They measured the spa top and said they would return when they had the part. They returned on 1/29 and replaced the whole piece of pipe rather than just where the leak was. Cost was about the same they said. ( $131.20) I asked about the spa cover and they said to give another week. Up until this point I was happy with their service. The repair was done well and seems to be fine. When I called after another week, it seems that the order was bounced back because they forgot to state a color...generic brown was all I wanted and had told them that two weeks before. The cover finally arrived on 2/27 ($371). As they put the cover on, I noticed that the skirting did not come down all the way to cover the molded shell like my previous one had ....I mentioned that to them and they said they'd never noticed how long it was on any of the others they had serviced. They left, but I wasn't satisfied with the cover. I looked through my paper work and ended up calling the company who put the cover together. The girl I talked with said the skirt should cover to the end of the molding and they could replace the skirt with up to a six inch length with no additional cost- they would just need the "skin" sent back and they would replace it. ( Standard orders only use a 4 inch skirt.) She also said that depending when it got to her, it would be a one day turn around. I called John at All Clear Pool and explained. He said he'd have to call them. Within a couple of days, the repairmen returned to take out the styrofoam centers and folded up the "Skin". We put the plastic encased styrofoam on the spa tub and I covered it with sheets and plastic table covers. I told them about the six inch skirt and said that they should go with that. When it came back two weeks later, it was still too short. They had only ordered the 5 inch skirt. The repairman wanted me to use it to see if it would stretch or something ( I had friends coming that weekend and had wanted to use it) . I decided change my weekend plans and have him take it back right then and get it done to the correct size. I even took a picture and had the repairman send one to his boss, John . I called John multiple times and got my husband involved who said I should just get my old one back and my money returned. However, the old cover had already been disposed of. We did not have use of the spa for two months. ( I did not want the inner styrofoam cores damaged by an accidental rip or snag). I always had to call John for an update and when he said he'd call the cover company to find out, he would never call to give me the information. I had to call him. I finally called the Cover company on 4/14 and they said it had been shipped to All Clear and was out for delivery. The repairmen arrived, unannounced, the next day. I kept the box that the skin had been shipped in. When my husband talked previously with John, he said he had sent out the skin shortly after the repairman had brought it back to him. ( the middle of March) . I cut out the info on the packing slip in case I needed to get in touch with the company . I noticed the mailing label underneath from All Clear Pool and Spa and the date they sent it out... not the middle of March, but 4/1. When I had called John previously, I had told him that I expected compensation. When I called on 4/17 , he asked how much more should he lose on this transaction. After telling him how frustrated I had been and that it wasn't my fault, he repeated his question. I told him $50 would be fair. He said fine and that the check would be in the mail and that he would never repair my spa again. A week later, I had not received his check, so I called. He was friendly and said he would get the check out right after he talked with me. Two days later, I did indeed receive the check. The repair work was done well. The communication was very inadequate. The compensation helped.
