They completed the job at approximately 8 pm. They were about to leave without replacing any of the other heavy furniture when I asked at what time would they be returning to replace the furniture, since this was on the job order. I also asked if it was ok to walk on the tile, and if we would have to sleep out again. They said it would be ok, and then replaced the furniture (walking all over the tile). Needless to say, some tiles were lifting by the very next day. We had them inspected by another licensed tiler, and several are hollow, Thinset not correctly applied, replacing the heavy furniture and shifting the beds back and forth over the green thinset notwithstanding. I called them back on Monday 9th, to inspect the faults and find out when repairs would be made. Was told that it would be inconvenient for repairs to be made right away, they would call me on Wednesday and let me know if they could come on Thursday 12th or Friday 13th. Still waiting for the call tomorrow is Friday. Understandably at this time of the year we are all heavily committed. I am no exception. I have waited for a Week with stuff all over the place, unable to leave the house, in case they call when convenient for them. I cannot have them in my home between December 14 and Jan 4th, they knew this before starting the job. So now I am faced with replacing curtains and ornaments and pictures and removing them again in January or cancelling the appointments I have now changed twice to accommodate these guys, and calling family to cancel long awaited visits, that way so many other people will be upset. Total lack of respect for other peoples time! Lousy job! Will not be paying another dime until job is corrected.
Description of Work: We hired Masterpiece Flooring replace carpet with tile in three rooms. At the initial inspection and estimate, I enquired about base boards being lifted. I was assured that the baseboards would be lifted numbered and the walls would be numbered to match. I was also told that they would not put us out of our home for the night, they would complete two rooms before starting the third. They were also to remove and replace the larger pieces of furniture. I made a deposit and an appointment was set for Dec 4 to Dec 6, because I am heavily committed between Dec. 14and Jan 4th. We waited all day Dec. 4th for them, we called at about 10 am and were told that they were supposed to be on their way. At 12pm my husband stopped by their office to check and was assured they would be there by 2pm. At 5.30 pm they pulled in deposited their trailer and left to return at approximately 10 am on the 5th. On the 5th they started removing carpet in all three rooms. At that time they informed us that they would be completing the job in two days instead of three. They proceeded to remove only half the carpet in each room. This was to facilitate them not removing the beds. They laid the tile on only half of each room, without removing the baseboards, and informed us that we would now have to sleep somewhere else because the thinset would take 24hours to set.. According to them the removal and replacement of baseboards was not on the job order, and this would in no way affect the lifting of the tile, this they stated was caused by improperly applied thinset. On the 6th they shifted the beds onto the newly laid tile and proceeded to lay tile on the other half of each room using a quick setting thinset and shift the beds back again as they then grouted all the while telling us that we could not walk on the tile for 24hours. Halfway though the day they decided that some of the tiles were defective, this required that some of the tiles that were already down would have to be removed and replaced.

We were unaware of this review from 2013, nevertheless, we would like to respond. I preformed an investigation concerning this issue. I found that this client was installed during our transition period between the former owners and the current owners. Here at Masterpiece Flooring we strive to uphold the highest level of craftsmanship and service. It saddens me to hear that this client was unhappy. Based on the information that I received, the product had a delivery date issue from the manufacturer due to a back order. We expedited the product to arrive earlier but it did not arrive till the day of the scheduled installation. Unfortunately, we were unable to pull the installer off of another job to deliver the product. Instead, we loaded the product after business hours and delivered it the same day. In the review the client stated, " I will not pay till the installation meets my demands." I noted that the invoice was paid in full almost immediately after the installation. I also noted that the review was written before we were able to finish the job. When installing tile there is always a 24 hour period of time that the Thinset must dry and harden completely. We have always made our clients aware of this. I understand that installing a floor is an inconvenience to anyone. That is why we make every effort to help our clients during their installation. Furniture needed to be moved more than twice to accommodate this customer. Again, we want to give the best service to our clients. Masterpiece Flooring is a family owned, team operated business.
