As a note, Tri-State was not the least expensive of the 3 estimates I received. However, the lower bidder measured the roof by walking it off as opposed to taking and rechecking the measurements as was done by both other contractors. The contractor who walked it off estimated 3 bundles of shingles more than either contractors. I was concerned this unprofessional conduct might carry through on the work performed. Also, I went on line to compare products and found the product used on my house to be superior to either of the products presented by the other contractors. Therefore I decided to go with a best value determination vs price alone.
Description of Work: From estimate to completion of the project, Sean and the guys at Tri State roofing did an outstanding job on my house. They removed the old roofing material, replaced the roof with top of the line shingles and installed all new vents. The old gutter was also removed and replaced with larger, seamless gutters and gutter guards to keep the leaves out of the gutters. The flat part of my roof was finished with an energy efficient system. Afterwards, they did a good job of cleaning up the area. I would definitely recommend them!

When I called, they sent out a rep in a timely manner to give me an estimate for a new roof. Sean was very professional. Their estimate was in line with two others that I received. There was a short wait (approx 2 weeks) between the time I called to schedule the job and the date when they could start due to rainy weather and a large job they were working on. That was not an issue for me. They had a crew that completed the work in two days. They did an excellent job! They swept the ground area in the backyard on both days with magnets to pick up any stray nails as I have three large dogs that I didn't want to accidentally step on anything. On the second day they completely swept around the entire house with the magnets and picked up all scraps and put them in the dumpster which was picked up the following day. I was amazed at how clean they got everything. After we got a good rain a few days later, Sean called to make sure everything was okay. I would definitely use them again if the need arose and highly recommend them.
Description of Work: Complete replacement of roof. Removed all old shingles and tar paper down to the boards. Re-nailed decking to meet new building codes. Installed a cricket by the fireplace. Replaced an area of the decking on a low slope area that was rotting. Installed ice and water shield over entire roof and re-shingled with dimensional shingles on the main roof and torch-down roofing on the low slope area. Also replaced three skylights with glass hurricane rated ones.

I have a leak that sprung up this morning. Having checked Angie's List for roofers, I decided to call Tri-State for an appt. to have them come out to repair the leak. I know already that it's coming from my ridge vent and that the ridge vent will need replacing. They told me they don't come out to DeFuniak Springs, it's too far. (a small town 55 miles or so from FWB) Yet, they're called TRI-STATE? And they service several STATES? Are you kidding me? I said the same to her, and she said it's just too far, they stay in hotels when they go to the other states. ??? You'll drive to other states but not a small town near you in your own state? I don't understand that logic. Perhaps you should change your company name and the "Areas Serviced".

Response from Tri-State Roofers Inc
At the time Member called we have had rain almost every day for 5 weeks. We were backed up on leak calls. It would not be feasible to charge the client for time and gas to go 2 1/2 hours round trip to look at her problem and give her a price, pick up the materials needed to match her roof and go back to fix a ridge vent, It would have been better for the customer to contact a roofing company closer and the cost of repair would have been more reasonable. I try to do work at a fair price. There would have been no way I could have gone up there for a resonable price. As for changing my name, I only do new construction, large projects when i go out of state. Of course I would not go out of town for a ridge vent. I am sorry that Member was upset, but I was looking out for her best insterest.

I had a leak in my roof that was coming down inside my home and damaging the ceiling in my family room...I called TRI-STATE ROOFERS, INC. (850-217-8688) early on Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2012 and spoke with a lady...She told me that she would have someone contact me as soon as possible...I received a call (later that morning) by a man, who told me that he would come out either that afternoon, or the following morning (at the latest) to locate and fix the leak... NO ONE EVER SHOWED UP OR HAD THE COURTESY TO CALL!!! I realize that the weather was bad and that it was raining; however, I still consider this type of service/conduct to be extremely unprofessional by any business...As a result of the above, I wasted 24 hours waiting for someone to show up, that could have been used in locating someone who would respond in a timely manner!!! I felt that (as a minimum) I deserved a phone call!!!

I would first like to appologize to the member for missing our appt. Even when it is raining I do try to call my homeowners and reschedule our appts. It is not my policy to just not show up and leave my customers waiting. Unfortunately he called us at a time when we were being overwhelmed with calls due to the abnormally large amounts of rain we have been getting all summer and I did forget to call him. It is unacceptable and we are taking steps to make sure this doesn't happen agian.

The job was completed in 4 days (started on 10 May and completed 14 May and no work on 13 May because of Mothers day). The schedule was driven by the need for two days with no rain in order to tear off roof. Once started, they completely removed the old roof, replaced bad decking, and they put on the second barrier. On the 4th day (Sunday), we had heavy rain and the roof only had 33% of the metal roof in place; no leaks through the secondary barrier. The barrier proved itself at that time.Upon completion, they cleaned up the area. However, there were a few missed nails and very small pieces of metal. I recommend getting one of the hand held magnets for this purpose (purchased at Lowe's for $14.00). Tristate accepts credit cards but even better they gave a discount for cash.
Description of Work: Complete roof removal of all asphalt shingles and replacement with full coverage of secondary water barrier, replaced two skylights, and a new metal roof.I am very satisfied with their work.

I give them a very high score and would recommend them highly.
Description of Work: I was very impressed with this company. The estimate was given by Sean. When the work started I mean it started. The tear off crew introduced themselves to me and were very courteous and professional. All efforts were given to ensure that the simplex nails from the tear off had been removed before my wife pulled into the driveway. They actually stopped her by the road to make sure it was debris free. Cleanup was very good also and care was taken to avoid any ornamental damages. While price wasn't the most attractive, the follow up by Sean and the reputation was well worth the extra 800.00. If you are having a roof replaced.....just choose these guys....they ROCK!!

They were excellent people. They were referred to me by a friend of mine who is a realtor and he has all his work done by them. They were very quick; it was very well done and is top quality. There was a large crew of people doing things and they all knew what they were doing. I was at the house most of the time and the guy who was in charge of it would tell me what they were doing, they took pictures of stuff and showed me while I was working. They asked if I needed anything special done and throw it in. They did detail work in some things, put a top quality roof and as per code. They did everything in two days and it is a 1900 square foot house. The day after that the dumpster arrived, the crew arrived early in the morning at about 7 o’clock and started. They were very timely and just great and they were like ants all over the place. We spent $8000 and that was very good, they were very cost effective people. We called other people and looked around at different things and some of them were outrageous.

Someone from Tri-State roofers came early to take a piece of my roofing off so they could color match, then they came when they said they would, stayed until the job was done right, and charged me what they quoted me. There was a little extra sanding and painting to be done and the needed to come back after it dried and they were very conciencious about getting back to finish. Good experience

Would use them again, however, not for at least 20 to 30 years!! Would recommend this company. Great experience, very professional.
Description of Work: Removed old roofing material and replaced with top of line materials to comply with new Florida hurricane code. They also had to comply with all the rules of our Home Owner's Association (HOA) and did so exactly. They were done in two days. On the third day, Mike did a walk around to make sure no materials or debris left behind. The waste management dumpster was removed on time. Mike was always available by phone if I had a question or concern, never had to leave a voice mail! I would definitely recommend them to anyone, especially the rest of our neighborhood. Great company to deal with.

The salesman responded and he really didn't give me an estimate. I wasn't happy with the process they used for estimating. He wanted to charge me $1,000 and we settled for $500 so I had no idea exactly what they wanted to charge. There was confusion. The salesman looked at the work to be done. I had used the worker before and he charged me $250 because a nail had backed out. I thought that price was reasonable. They didn't use the salesman the first time and I felt like he was trying to rip me off big time the second time. I wasn't happy because I had to talk them down. The work was fine. The workman was courteous and he knew what he was doing. He showed up on time and did a good job; it was just the salesman I was unhappy with. I would use them again but I wouldn’t allow the salesman to be part of the project. I would be leery.

I used Angie's list to contact a handful of roofing companies in my area. Tri-State Roofers called me back very quickly and arranged a time to meet and give me an estimate. Sean came to my house the next day. He thoroughly examined the roof, took photos and explained repair options. We met on a Wednesday and he told me that they would begin repairs within a week. Two days later he called and said that he had a crew in the area. They made the repairs that day. The work was completed early. The warranty and price were far superior to his competitors. I highly recommend researching companies on this website and then getting multiple estimates. I would use this company again..
Description of Work: Tropical Storm Lee damaged my roof. Specifically, many shingles were ripped off while others were loosened signifcantly. The metal ridge vents were also damaged. This allowed water to enter my home through a ceiling fan. Tri-State Roofers (Sean) came out and gave me an estimate and then started the project 4 days earlier than I had expected. A crew was sent out and then Sean came back and inspected the work.

Because we were able to secure a workman that very same night, we left a message for Mike to save him a trip the next day. When I telephoned him on Friday morning to make sure he knew we had cancelled, he sincerely apologized for not being able to come out on the day we had called. Because the fix was easy and completed, I asked Mike if his company would submit a written estimate for a new roof whether asphalt or metal. We intend to complete this job after hurricane season when the weather cools.

Thank you for the good review, member. Sorry for the confusion on the shingles. Effective Jan. 1, 2011 all GAF/ELK laminate shingles carry a limited "Lifetime" warranty with a 130 mph rating. Unfortuantly the brochures have the wind speeds in other regions of the U.S.. Most regions only require 4 nails per shingle so they only qualify for a 110 mph rating. It was a pleasure working with you and your husband.

All went well - we are very pleased with the new roof and glass skylights - a great addition to our house. We have already recommended this business to friends and would use them again ourselves.
Description of Work: Complete replacement roof and 4 foot skylights. We decided we did not like the yellow glow of the plastic skylights we had chosen, so we asked to have them replaced with the glass skylights. It took several months of back & forth calls (they were very busy), but they were successfully replaced. Love the glass ones !

After I called them to schedule an estimate, I was impressed: the person who answered said he would be there in 1.5 to 2 hours and asked me if I wanted a courtesy call before. Then I waited all afternoon for somebody to show up or to call to cancel... Nothing... I wasted my time all afternoon waiting for them... The next morning I called, kind of complaining about it but willing to understand that something major may have happened, like an accident or something. Whoever took the call told me that I would be better off calling an other roofer since I didn't sound very happy with them... So much for punctuality and courtesy... I suppose they have plenty of business anyway...

The problem was the roof is a very shallow pitch which should not have had shingles installed; it began leaking shortly after we purchased the home. I called Tri-State Roofers after another roofer failed to follow through with the repair. The Tri-State salesman was prompt and provided several options. He was professional and very knowledgeable . I decided I wanted the shingles on portion of the roof that was leaking replaced with flat torch-down. The Tri-State salesman gave me a written estimate and said they should be able to do the job within the next week; as it turned out they finished another job early and started mine a day early. It was a one day job done while I was at work. When I came home that evening the only sign the crew had been there was my new roof. All waste material was removed with the exception of a few stray nails. When I mentioned this Tri-State sent a man over to sweep the roof and surrounding area again. The final bill was $2600.00. I was happy to pay it. Since the job was completed we have had two heavy rainstorms and I'm happy to report the roof no longer leaks.
