My experience with Andrew's Flooring was a very difficult unprofessional encounter. Andrew's Flooring, which is associated with Stacey Hart and the Hart Group LLC, performed remodeling and flooring work in my home in the winter of 2013. As part of the contract with the Hart Group, Andrew's Flooring was contracted to install Engineered Hardwood Flooring on approximately 800 square feet on the first floor of my home. The flooring I had picked out at Flooring Authority in Fort Walton Beach FL, was not used My flooring sample was taken to Lumber Liquidators and a similar look but lesser quality flooring was installed. At the time of installation, I inquired whether the concrete slab had been leveled. I had been told that it was not necessary. Throughout the installation, 2 areas, were torn up and re-installed. 1 area in the kitchen as a result of the water leaking from the ice maker, as the refrigerator had been pulled out, with the water to the ice maker not being turned off. The water was excessive enough for the crew to check with my neighbors in the adjoining town house, to see if the water had gone under the wall and into their home. The flooring in that area of the kitchen which had been glued down had to be ripped up, because of the water damage and a large dehumidifier brought in to ensure that dampness in the house from the water damage did not result in any further damage. 2nd area was in main hallway running from front door. In my absence the flooring had been installed in the hall way and then torn up because the flooring was not going down level. The reasoning given to me was that there was a nail in the concrete and Andrew Griswold was trying to go over it with the engineered hard wood. THe flooring was reinstalled and there is still an evident slope in the floor. The flooring was pulled up for the first time. As the attempts were made to get the floor to lay level, excessive amounts of glue were left on the floor, many for in excess of a week. The floor was re-installed, again with excessive amounts of glue left on the wood. For cleaning the glue after it had dried, many chemicals not recommended for use on urethane flooring were used to remove the glue, harming the finish on the floor. Many add'l areas of the floor were left with glue on them and many areas of the floor had the finish damaged. In addition to the finish being damaged, the flooring was started in the bathroom and in the hallway at the same time leaving a joint in the threshold of the bathroom door in excess of 1/2 inch. As the wood could not be cut narrow enough, the joint was filled with wood putty and stained. Add'l joints in the hallway, as a result of the reinstallation, were wide enough to require wood putty to fill, other narrower joints were left, but are big enough to put the lead point of a pencil in and have the pencil stand straight up. I am still left with a very bad finish on the floor and a bump in the hallway. In addition I have had 2 other flooring companies come in to determine if the floor could be salvaged. Both companies feel the floor can not be salvaged and in addition identified multiple areas where the planks were staggered with only inches between the joints. Both flooring representatives explained that proper installation is to stagger the boards with a minimum of 6 inches between joints, the further the joints are apart the better the more secure the flooring is. The Andrew's Flooring team, was very unprofessional and out right rude during many discussions pertaining to the work. The majority of the time they did not have the correct tools for the work and quite often used my personal tools. The saw used on the circular saw had visible rust on it. The trowel used for the adhesive was never cleaned and left to harden over night used again the next day with the dried on adhesive on it, giving the adhesive and uneven coating. I would not recommend Andrew's Flooring to anyone. I would like to reiterate that not only the quality of the work and the product were substandard but the proprietor was extremely rude to me and to his crew.
Description of Work: Andrew's Flooring worked as a sub-contractor for Stacey Hart/The Hart Group LLC. Andrew Griswold, the proprietor of Andrew's Flooring, managed the remodeling project of the first floor of my home for the Hart Group. The work included, removing tile flooring, moving 2 walls, enlarging a bathroom and kitchen, with new cabinetry and granite included in kitchen work, installing engineered hard wood flooring through out the first floor. For purposes of this review I will limit the review to the flooring, as Andrew's Flooring is the company being reviewed.
