Here is my full complaint to the DBPR. I encourage anyone who has had problems with this company to report them. *****. On Sunday, April 23rd, I called Promag Energy to report that an AC wasn’t working in an apartment I managed. The tenant said it had something to do with the drain line. When she aligned the drain line, it started working, but then it would cut off. On Monday, April 22nd, they came out. I was not able to be present at the property. They said it would be $3,000 to fix the AC or $7,000 to replace it. They said my AC was 9 years old and it needed to be replaced. I agreed for the work to be done. So they pulled a permit for “like-for-like” system. They installed the AC and finished up work on April 25th. The next day I got a call from the company stating that the AC was installed, but the electrical for the AC won’t pass inspection. I asked them why they would open a permit and install an AC that wouldn’t pass code. They said they didn’t know that the AC didn’t have two breakers. On top of that, my business partner said to fit the AC unit, they cut a door knob, effectively damaging my property without consent. I fail to understand how someone could install an AC knowing that the wiring was faulty without asking the property owner. I also don’t understand why they could damage my property to install an AC, again without asking the property owner. Over the course of the week, the electrical in the apartment was shutting off appliances and lights in no particular order. We had the AC company come out. They quoted us $3,000 to replace the electrical panel in the house and increase the amps going to the house. We asked “do you think it could just be a loose wire? It doesn’t look like the breaker is tripping.” We also know after years of property management the existing 100 amps was plenty to run the house. So, I reached out to another certified electrician. We told him the problem and he agreed that something was probably loose. He tighten up everything he could from the panel and it seems that the problem has gone away. In the course of trying to figure out the electrical issue, I took at a look at the permit that was pulled for the work. The contractor stated that they would be putting in a “like for like change out of a RUUD, 2 ton”. When I looked back at the house inspection from last year, I saw that the existing AC was a 2.5 ton. This company deceived us and left us with an AC that was less than we needed. Along the way, the company has not taken ownership of their faulty work, calling the electrical a “coincidence”. They lied to us about their quote. They have put our tenant and property in danger by installing a system that isn’t wired for their AC. They have tried to up-charge us with unnecessary electrical work. We’ve looked at their reviews on Google. It looks like that they have a pattern of this behavior.

The tech came out when he said he was going to and was very nice. However, all he did was try to sell me a new A/C. There was no maintenance done. I just wasted $60. I realize my system is old and yes probably needs to be replaced, but all he did was try to sell me a new one, nothing done to maintain the system at all. The worst part was a week later, and still continues, I get calls from them asking me to purchase their maintenance special! At least keep track of who you sold this to already. I no longer answer the phone when I see their name on the caller ID. I will probably need a new A/C sometime in the future but I will not buy it from them.

Very professional and answered all questions. Also checked air duct and cleaned the screen. Previously, I purchased a new AC unit. At that time, they were also professional and stayed until the job was completed. It rained that day and they got wet. I did not hear any complaints. They did a fantastic job.

Technician arrived with a brush about 3 feet long to clean a line approximately 20 feet long. He inserted the brush, removed a small amount of lint; then, went into the house, turned on the dryer and asked me to stand outside and let him know if any lint blew out. Since nothing came out, he said his job was done and asked for $100. I was somewhat intimidated by his demeanor and paid him. He was in my home exactly 11 minutes. While taking the brush out of the vent, he broke the vent cover and told me he was not responsible for the damage. Two weeks later I used another company for the same purpose. This tech removed 1 1/2 bags of lint. Over the next several months, I made repeated calls to ProMag. With each call, I was given an excuse for why I could not speak to a supervisor. I finally gave up. I would definitely stay far away from ProMag.

They were 1 hour late because their gps took them 50 minutes in the wrong direction. Took one look at the unit (3 years old, top of the line Lennox) and said it was a terrible a.c and we should not have purchased it. They looked inside unit where there is a drip pan and it was full of water (later to find that was normal). ProMag claimed the coil was bad and it needed to be replaced along with re-routing the drain line and cost would be $800.00. They wanted 1/2 down and would do the regular service when they returned to install part that we really didn't need. We had Service Experts out for 2nd opinion and they did the regular cleaning service, which includes vacuuming drain line and pan and checking the entire unit, and said all you need is a new filter $30.00. Really $30 vs $800. ProMag didn't know what they were talking about.
Description of Work: Came to just do routine maintenance and said we needed a new part for $800 and after part is installed then they would do regular maintenance. We had another Very unprofessional. Ask to use bathroom and got dirt all over door, door and sink. Claimed our unit was a terrible unit and he would never recommend that brand (which it is rated #2 by consumer reports). We had Service Experts come out to see if we really needed the part. They said everything looked good. Cleaned and serviced it for 30.00 the cost of the filter. Do not recommend ProMag! They can't be trusted.

It did not go well. We went with another company. We found out that the repairman that they send out will find false problems and then upsell. We went with another company. We had them come out and check the air conditioner after ProMag had come in and told us that we had about $1000 worth of repairs that needed to be made on it. The other company said it was running fine, we didn't need anything. They even bought out ProMag's contract with us. We had a contract with ProMag. First of all they kept calling us almost monthly to schedule. As senior citizens, we are retired but we aren't to the point that we don't remember what happened a month ago. They are supposed to come out every 6 months and they have been calling us almost every single month. Every time they did come out, for 3 years we used them and every single time they came out there was something wrong that they had to fix that would cost us more money. After the 4th or 5th time I said no, let's have another company come out and if they agree with ProMag fine, and if they don't, we are getting rid of ProMag. So, we had another company come out and and said your air conditioner is fine. He fixed one thing where it wasn't draining properly but that was it. I find them larcenist. Most senior citizens are going to go with what their repairman says is wrong. We did spend a lot of money. They were here 5 times and each time there was something that needed to be done and we had numerous things done that probably didn't even need it in the first place.
Description of Work: We last used ProMag Energy Group A/c and Heating about in September of last year to inspect the air conditioner.

I am much more impressed with the services provided by the techs than I am with the people who set the appointments. I get many different calls from different people and no one seems to know about the others. At one point I was so disgusted with this I swore never to sue ProMag again. HOWEVER, the tech on our recent service was quite knowledgeable and efficient. His name is Chris and I would definitely recommend him. Their prices always seem high but the work is good and their follow-up is reliable.

I don't know if I would recommend them because when they were here they cleaned some mold, and different people gave me different prices. I don't have anything to compare them to as far as quality. They were responsive and very punctual. I would probably check around before using them again. If I had to use them I would.
