After Hurrican Ian I was looking for roofing companies to replace my roof under an insurance claim and someone recommended Wintex Industries. I hired them and they performed better than I expected. We all hear stories about roofers starting jobs then disappearing but Wintex replaced the roof and the gutters and it came out amazing. I am so happy with the results. The office staff were very helpful with the process and selecting colors. It was a positive experience.

Dave keeps removing my reviews. Ruined my gutters in 2018 and refused to correctly repair them. 8 months and 5 different workers and they leaked worse each time. We ended up in court. This guy is arrogant and dirty. Stay away-read all the complaints on all the sites. Hire a REAL company with an owner who is actually more skilled than full of himself.

The Provider Response is not true. I was the one who found this company to work for my mother and as proven to Angie's List, the BBB, and The Attorney General's Office I am authorized to support and speak for my mother in this case. This complaint has been closed by the Attorney General's office and the BBB. Dura-Loc did agree to refund $1,000 to my mother on the condition that we have the BBB block our complaint from public viewing. We would not agree to those terms and a stalemate was reached so both the BBB and the Attorney General's office closed the complaint. In essence we have spent over 6 months and over $1,000 to warn people about this company. Please do not hire this company. You can read the entire complaint against them at the BBB website, the complaint is dated 1/20/2016 in the Answered section of the Complaint Resolution Log. This is the link: http://www.bbb.org/west-florida/business-reviews/roofers/wintex-industries-dura-loc-in-fort-myers-fl-6178793/complaints Below is our original report to Angie's List: This complaint is in regards to service agreements not being met, complaint calls and emails being ignored, and refund not being issued. This Complaint is being made on behalf of my mother, Judy, who lives in a custom built dome home in Lehigh Acres. She is 71 years old. Dave Gustason, the owner of Dura Loc, is not answering his phone or responding to any messages that I have left in an effort to resolve this issue. Following is my account of the transaction to date: My mom hired Dura-Loc at the end of April (4/19/15 check-deposit 4/24/15 cash-paid in full $3,000) to patch some shingles and replace five skylights above the front door. The roofer they sent out, Rick, informed us he had lots of experience with skylights and some experience with Dome Houses and he could save us some money by fixing the skylights. We told him we had already had several handymen attempt to repair them and all were unsuccessful. He assured us he could fix them. After three or four weeks, and several attempts to fix them, they still leaked. We (My mother and I) decided to actually fix the leaks by spending $4,000 to buy new skylights. Dura Loc charged my mother an additional $2,000 (6/25/15 credit-deposit 6/29/15 credit-paid in full $2,000) to install the new skylights. I wasn't aware of this charge until after the payment was processed and as soon as I found out I took issue with the company. Not only had they failed to repair the old skylights as promised, one of the new skylights was installed improperly and it took the roofer several more attempts over several more weeks to fix it. Now we have also discovered that a repair that the roofer made to the roof on his first visit has is still leaking! I have an email from the office saying the installer, Rick was in agreement to refund the $2,000 installation fee. The owner, Dave, later informed me his employees do not have the authority to make such statements. I can take comfort in the fact that his employees know refunding the money is the right thing to do. We were concerned that the roofer may have needed more help to actually do the work correctly, extra hands and ladders. It was just the roofer and his wife doing the work and we supplied an extra ladder. My mother has been recovering from a brain aneurysm that burst in 2012. She is almost back to 100% but I worry that this stress of dealing with this company is not good for her health not to mention the fact that her social security income does not allow for this large of a loss for work not completed. Mom will be moving to St. Petersburg, FL by the end of the year and will be selling her house. We were hoping to have the roof repairs done by now and were previously considering having Dura-Loc replace the entire roof but after this fiasco with the skylights we have no confidence the work would carried out in a timely fashion or be of any quality. We will be listing her house as is. I had a meeting set up with the installer, Rick, and the owner of the company, Dave, Tuesday, August 18th to resolve this issue and have money refunded to my mother for work not completed. I took a day off from work to drive from St. Petersburg to Ft. Myers to meet with them. The owner insisted that all of us (Dave, the owner, Rick, the installer, and me) needed to sit down together and discuss the repairs. I knew the installer would probably not be there since his wife was in the hospital. Rick, the installer, called to assure me he would be there by noon but he did not know about Dave. I kept calling Dave, the owner of the company, and leaving messages. No response... Late in the day he called to say he would not be able to make the meeting without Rick and Rick was still in the hospital with his wife. I said he could at least have the decency to sit down with me to discuss the matter from my point of view and he refused. So I lost a day of income and drove four hours for nothing. I rescheduled the meeting with Dave, the owner of the company, and the installer on Monday August 24th at my mother's house. I was unable to make it because my husband's car was in the shop and he needed my car to get to work. I left several messages for Dave on Saturday and Sunday to let him know I would not be able to make it but I would be available all day for a conference call to settle this matter. I also sent an email to the office detailing the same information. He did not respond to the phone messages I left or the email. I spoke to the secretary Monday morning and she informed me that Dave had gotten the email. He is shirking his responsibility as a business owner to engage with the customer and resolve disputes. I have never felt so disrespected. Dave's lack of concern for the customer and unwillingness to take responsibility for the workmanship of his employees is a huge reason to avoid this company. I repeat, avoid this company. Update 01/12/15 This complaint has been seeking resolution through the BBB and the Attorney General's Office for six months. Dura-Loc tried to block my complaint on Angie's List saying that I was not the person receiving the service. This is not the case. Our circumstance does fit the criteria for placing a review on Angie's List and with the BBB. I am the one who commissioned Dura-Loc on behalf of my 71 year old mother. The reason I called this company was to prepare my mother's house for sale so she could move in with my husband and I in Saint Petersburg. We did have to hire another roofing company to finish preparing her house for sale. Her house did sell in November and she has moved in with us in Saint Petersburg. The last communication I had with Dura-Loc in an effort to resolve this dispute through mediation with the Attorney General's was on December 21, 2014. Dura-Loc offered to refund $1,000 to my mother on the condition that my complaint with them not be made available to the public to read on the BBB website. I consider this blackmail and I am thankful that my mother is not desperate for this money or we may have had no other choice but to take the money and not be able to encourage the public to learn from our experience and avoid Dura-Loc.

My suggestion would be to stay away from this organization. Where do I begin? Last August I had a leeak in the roof and had three firms give us bids for the repair. Dur-a-Loc had actually been one of the firms recommended by the Collier County Five Star Rating Home Service Publication (interesting to note that they are no longe on this list). Dur-a-Loc was the low cost bidder for the job. What should have been a tip-off for me was that their representative, Dave', neither went up on the roof nor into the attic to look closely at the possible damage. He assured me that he knew what the problem was as he has been in the roofing business for a long time. Also, he gave me an 'estimate' on the job of approximately $500 and this would include a $90 trip charge for the work. I guess at this point, there were enough 'red flags' that I should have noticed but elected to go with them because other extimates were running four times as much because the other roofing firms wanted to repair a very large piece of the roof for what seemed to be a relatively small leak. After the work was completed, I received an invoice for $785. I was a bit surprised as this was a 50% increase over the original $500 estimate (which I did understand to be only an estimate). The problem was that invoice stated that two workers were here at the house for three hours. I was home at the time of the service and believe that they were actually here for about 45 minutes. I questioned them about the bill and they lowered it to $640 and that is what I paid. When the rains began earlier this year in the Spring, I noticed a wet spot inside the house in the exact same place where I previously had Dur-a-Loc do the repair work. Since their work offered a one year warranty, I reached out to Dave and explained my issue. His first response to me when I called was that I "was the guy that didn't want to pay" for my previous work. That was inaccurate and quite an insult. He then kept telling me to check back with him in a few days and he would check his calendar to see if he was avaailable to come out to the house and take a look. After three additional phone calls and three weeks of time, he finally came out to the house. I must have been pretty low on his 'to-do list'. Once he did finally get to the house, he looked at the wet spot inside, walked outside and looked at the roof from the ground level and then determined that it would be an additional $3500 to repair the leak! However, since I had already paid them $640, he would deduct that from the fee and thus I would owe them approximatley $2900 for the job (which he could start within three days).Dave neither botherd to get out a ladder and get up on th roof nor went into the attic to try and visually inspect the affected area. He seemed to pull a number out of thin air. How is that for a one year warranty? That "warranty" was going to cost me an additional $2900. After considereing the proposal for a couple of days, I neglected to take Dave's calls as he now seemed very eager to do the work and get his crew out in a matter of days. When $2900 was at stake, he was able to do the work almmost immediately, yet prior to that, when I wanted him to re-examine a $640 poorly performed job, it took him three weeks to get back to my house. I decided to consult Angie's List and we came up with a couple more roofers to take a look at our roof. One of the providers (they were both highly recommended) came out to the house within two days. The representative not only went up onto the roof but also went into the attic and took multiple pictures to show me exactly where the leak had occured. He wrote up a bid for $996. Within two weeks, they were on the job. They repaired the roof and my final invoice was exactly what was on my initial contract. No surprises at all. The summer rains are here and the roof is just fine (no leaks). I clearly wasted $640 with Dur-a-Loc as the "repair" did not stop the leak. I found their estimating process to flawed, the professionalism quesionable and their follow up to be awful. I would not recommend this firm not wouldI allow them to perform work on my house again.

I was somewhat satisfied with the initial coating however they were not cautious about getting the coating on the pool deck below etc. I was fortunately going to have deck redone anyway but I thought they would have offered something first instead me having to bring up to them first. And then the repair contract came, they charge for time and materials and that means the time it takes them to go get the materials not at shop for your job in my case underlayment and bull, as well as a $95.00 Trip charge. This is noted on contract and am advised that it is standard for roof contractors to charge Trip Charge and then Travel time from office to place to pick up materials and to my house and then return to office at hourly rate of 65.00 an hour. They did not call in advance of repair, I was home and documented time on roof and it was not the amount of hours initially invoiced. In addition to a supervisor fee which was not agreed upon on the initial contract. I now am consulting other roofing companies for complete re-roof however will not even consider them based on ethics if for nothing else. And I know it is my word against theirs as to how long they actually took to do the repairs but it wasn't no 1.5 hours of travel time, 4.5 in repair ( 6 hours Labor) 95.00 Trip Charge, 110.00 in supplies and 4.5 hours. And then to top it off I wanted to put charge on credit card and they couldn't do that as their machine was down for over a week and they didn't tell me, until I called on the 31st wanting charge posted in 2014 and said there was no way for them to manually (call) charge into their bank. That's what I call service!

Roof leak was repaired as promised. Hourly rate of $65 per man was agreed to by me. Bill was for 6 man hours X 2 men or a total of $780. Additional charge of $90 for initial size up of the job plus $150 for materials. Payment was rendered promptly. I questioned the $150 material charge which seemed excessive considering that I supplied the roof tile and the roof opening was aproximately 24"x36". Their justification included the fact that their men had to go pick up the needed material plus they added workmens comp and insurance as part of the justification. My response to that was that I was paying the man hour charge of $65/ hour which would include the workmen's compensation and insurance etc while they went to Lowes to pick up the material. The materials purchased were no where near the value charged and would have been assumed to be on the truck of a typical roof repair company. The company explanation also included driving time in attempting a justification but they were only on the job for 5 hours and charged me for 6 hours. I felt that was reasonable but hardly as a rationale for the $150 material charge. I requested a detailed breakdown of the $150 material charge on November 21st and they have not responded. While I am assuming the roof was repaired properly, every other aspect of the transaction with Dura-Loc was unsatisfactory.

We selected Dura-Loc because they are an Owens-Corning Preferred Contractor and their price was competitive. Work commenced on time and proceeded according to schedule. All the workers were courteous and responsive to all questions and concerns that came up during the job and the worksite was left clean and organized every evening. Every city inspection passed with no problems. The roof was finished on time and on budget. Dura-Loc was also very helpful in preparing a complete consolidated wind mitigation report, including work on other parts of the house that had been done by other contractors. This service was not specified in our contract and was performed even after we had paid in full, a time when many contractors will not call back.

Went very slowly. Requests were made of provider to call before showing up, which was not done. A scheduled time was missed, then provider showed up probably around 8 pm at the door (the same day of scheduled time) and apologized for not getting there earlier. Just bizarre. Finishing of the job took forever, and the bill was sent before the job was finished. Someone then came to finish the job (after being called) and, of course, no call 1st. Seemed they were not very interested in the repair job once they knew we did not want a roof replacement at this time.

Provider didn't contact me although I had provided all info including possible dates. I finally contacted company and we set up a date for him to come out. He didn't show. I contacted the company again and expressed my displeasure. He had a family emergency, which I did understand, but I told him a phone call would have been nice. Our second date was successful and he examined my roof and found several areas that need attention in the near future. He should me pictures of those areas that he had taken and also provided me with an estimate to fix those areas. He did fixed a leak, that I pointed out, that was coming into my living room ceiling. A large screw had come out of my metal roof which caused the leak. He caulked it to stop the leak. He was very nice and helpful once he came to my house, it was just the timing at the beginning that caused the problem. I am more of a communication person.

The guy that showed up did a good job. He inspected the roof and took some pictures and showed me how it looked. He could have said we needed a new roof but he said even though it was about fifteen years old it was really in good shape and it could last a while longer. I did have one place in the gutter where it was dripping and he said that wasn't part of the job but he filled it for me anyways. I was pleased with that. The price was very good. The gentleman had to add some roofing tore to help fill and he took some of the stones that had flipped of some of the shingles that was in the gutters and he used that stone to cover the black tore so it was the same color as the roof. That was something definitely in addition to the work that he did. I went up and looked at the job and it looks neat, and it looks like it is still good.
