+ -1 moreHe first quoted $120 for two hinges. Then did a few more and screwed one down with an electric drill. After finishing the job he then stated it will be $120 per drawer. He was only here less than an hour and charged me a total of $360. I told him the price was ridiculous, so he took $40 off. I feel sickened by the way he scammed me.

+ -1 moreThe craftsman gave me a verbal estimate. I typed it out and sent it via text, to confirm. Work was completed, but left a mess...walls still taped, cardboard box covering the area, stucco crumbles all over the place, work done unevenly. Very disappointing BUT the manager, Todd, came out with the craftsman to smooth out the work and clean up. Was very courteous, apologetic and tried to make things right in the overall pricing. Even offered to 'make it right' by trying them again, which I plan to do on a small job, different craftsman. Maybe one can't judge such a large company based on one bad apple/craftsman?

+ 2 moreRob Rhoades came out and gave me a verbal estimate and then a non itemized phone text estimate,. When it came time to schedule and to find out why i had not heard from them and why I was not given a written estimate (I called the manager, Matt). He started doubling the price and saying this and that was not included in Mr. Rhoades estimate and that he never mentioned a bathroom????. I have the text and the voice mail messages. Then Matt (239)848-6744, calls me back and says Mandy, their receptionist, said I called and was accusing Mr. Rhoades of doing side jobs and some other nonsense and that he was angry. I had never called them back and had o idea what he was talking about. Matt later apologized and said Mandy had confused my name with another customers name. He then proceeded to double the amount of the estimate Mr. Rhoades had given me and tried to make me think he was doing me a favor and it was a huge deal. I told him how unprofessional he and his company were and that I would never ever call them again. If a company will not give you an itemized written estimate, with EVERYTHING you requested documented, with the price, you are in for a huge disappointment and should report them immediately.
Description of Work: dry walll bulkhead removed in kitchen and bathroom room, with repair and texture of wall where removed. Two wood posts constructed for pipes from attic to kitchen.

I found out through several calls to the cell phone of the "handyman" over a period of 5 days. His response was that he no longer was with the Handyman company and that he was surprised that they had not contacted me. He had left my check of $1,400 with the company, and when I called them, they did not seem to care. I found someone else, and would not recommend this company to anyone

The other ceiling repairs I've had done in the past (3-4) the providers came in, took down the old ceiling, and replaced with drywall. This provider recommended tacking up broken pieces to the existing boards and adding some paint.
Description of Work: Provider came out and measured the job to be done and did the assessment and provided me with his plan of action.

+ 3 moreWe hired The Handyman Company in late May for an interior paint job on a 2 bedroom condo in Fort Myers. We made the decision to hire the company to complete to job 2 days later with the agreement that the job would be complete by June 15th, which was the day we were moving into the condo. Initially the work appeared to be going very well, although the painter started several days later than promised and 2 rooms were painted very nicely within the first day of beginning the work. After this, everything went downhill and has continued to snowball since. Two days prior to move-in I walked into my condo to the realization that the 2 rooms completed on the first day of work were still the only rooms completed; I promptly called the company in anger and tried to fire them. They convinced me that if I would allow them to complete the work that they would have ?a team of painters? come in and finish the job prior to move-in day. Of course, I chose incorrectly when I allowed them to continue working?The work drug out for another 8 weeks, and after filing 2 complaints with the Better Business Bureau the work was finally complete. In order to get the job done I had to call and reschedule every appointment multiple times as the painter simply would not show up when promised without any notice. As for the quality of the work, it was sophomoric at best. When the painter declared the work complete we went through the home and found so many errors and missed areas that we exhausted nearly an entire roll of painters tape marking the mistakes- including, but not limited to, paint stains on the floors, entire doors and wall sections not painted, spotty trim work, and wall paint on ceilings and doors. My experience with this company was equivocal to having the same nightmare every night for 12 weeks (I will remind you that this was proposed as a 1 week job). I do not feel I got my money?s worth as I spent more hours rescheduling appointments and trying to get the work completed that I would have rather paid another company double than deal with this nonsense. There are plenty of options in Southwest Florida when it comes to painters- beware of this company; they talk a big game but do not follow through as promised. This is unequivocally the worst experience I have ever had with a contractor. On a scale of 1-10, I would rate them in the negative digits.
Description of Work: Paint interior of 2 bedroom condominium (walls, trim and doors). Price listed in the review is for labor only, I purchased the paint at a cost of approximately $700.

+ 0 moreA very nice man came out and spent about an hour with me reviewing the decks that needed to be painted. He even took pictures. He said they would get back to me with the quote. I really liked the estimator, who was very educated and I planned on using this company, based on him. I never heard back from them. When I contacted (about 5 days later) to ask about the quote, I was told a piling home was not what they could do! I was very disappointed as I stayed home for the estimate and wasted an entire week waiting for the estimate. This is a vacation home and came the house just to handle the painting and wasted an entire week waiting for them. The next company I called came right out and did an awesome job. It was not a huge job.
Description of Work: I had contacted the supplier to get an estimate on my home on Sanibel for painting my lanais (piling home), which I mentioned in my initial email. I was told this is something they could do.

Description of Work: The service was a remodel of kitchen and work with what I had. Paul the carpenter was great had good idea's and took the time to listen to what I was looking for and Paul would give his opinion and idea's and would let me think about it and listen to me about changing something.

The work was completed in a few short hours, including replacing the ceiling joists and replacing rotted wood on the facing with siding. The work was done professionally and we would definitely use their services again.
Description of Work: Provider replaced ceilings joists and exterior facing of our eaves covering the lanai area. Wood was rotted from water damage.

+ 1 moreI highly recommend that when you call these guys that you ASK for Brian B. When I first called to get someone out here to look, he came out immediately and was there within two hours. The price was good and he made it seem like there were no holes to begin with. We had nine giant holes left by plumbers and he made it look untouched. He works fast and he's extremely professional. He cleans up any mess made and gets the job done right. A++ for this man.

+ 0 moreWe were quoted a price of 600 dollars for the entire project, installation of new jacuzzi tub with heater and removal of old tub. This job went wrong from day one. I actually cut up the old tub and took it to the dump. We were charged separately for the plumbing and the electrical, so what was the six hundred dollars for? This company did not use any permits and the tile job was a mess. The grout lines do not match up and I actually supplied the tile because the handyman wanted to use some tile which I'm sure were from some previous job. The plumber over charged us and fudged the numbers on the document. We were charged for 3 and a half hours and the plumber was only here for 2. The manager knocked off 300 dollars from the six hundred dollar price but we were still stuck with 230 for the electrical and 450 for the plumber and the remaining 300 for the handyman company. So we were still out well over the six hundred dollars we were quoted. The six hundred dollars was even on the quote. If you go with this company beware. This is my first experience with using Angie's list and my last .... I picked Angie's list to avoid getting burned but it happened any way. I'm starting to believe there are no honorable contractors left in this country. I just thank God I did not lose my temper and go off.

+ 0 moreMr. Robert J. Wills arrived, surveyed the task, and quoted a price of "a couple hundred" if I provided the materials. It was explained that I wanted the finished product to be ready to paint. It took about six weeks for him to get his schedule together to come to the house to do the job. I had purchased two sheets of drywall, tape, putty, and screws. The scaffold was assembled and ready for his use. He completed the task of installing the drywall, and applied one layer of putty with the tape to seal the seams. When questioned about the texture, he said that he did not have time as he had to travel to Marco Island (45 miles distance) for another job. When I got ready to texture the ceiling, I noticed that the seams were not smooth and would require another coat of putty and sanding to make the seams clean and seamless. I took pictures of the completed product and sent them to him. He said he would come back and fix it for another $100.00. When I informed him that this quality of work was part of the original job, he declined. I then requested $50.00 refund so I could complete the task. He agreed. I requested that the money or check be sent by certified mail. He has failed to correct his workmanship or to refund the $50.00 Pictures of hi project. plus copies of the full email exchange can be provided upon request.
