This was a planned replacement of an air conditioning system that was over 13 years old and had required an expensive Freon recharge over the summer. We got a referrel from neighbors who had used this company for system replacement recently. The salesman showed up promptly, reviewed the job and gave us a written estimate for a RUUD package unit, good for 30 days. This is a 13 SEER unit without the complicated electronics used on higher efficiency units. This was our fourth quote and was very competitive. This salesmen didn't try to up-sell, or run down his competitors or other brands with horror stories, or pressure us to sign a contract on the spot. He gave us a good quote without the hustle. We gave him the order a few days later and sent a requested 10% deposit. The installation went on schedule. Lifetime Air obtained the required permit and told us how to deal with it. The installation crew was prompt, efficient and courteous. We were very pleased with the installation and the savings. The unit works well. We know why our neighbors recommended them. We can gladly recommend them as well.

Late in the afternoon, called and left message. Received call back later same day, we set up appointment for the next morning as it was not a emergency do to the temperature being in the comfort range. The next morning repairman was here, found a bad motor in the blower. Left with the blower and was back in about 45 min. with a new motor installed in the blower. Work was done in a very proficent manner. This company installed the ac. We have been very happy with this ac system. It has reduce our power bill by 1/3.

Description of Work: I moved from this particular location in September, 2010 and no longer require A/C service. However, I used Southern Comfort from 1995 until I moved in September, 2010. When I needed service right after I purchased my home in 1995, I called another company who told me I needed to have the A/C completed replaced. A friend recommended Southern Comfort. They told me the A/C was very old and was going be very costly to operate as it was not energy efficient at all. They immediately added they would be able to keep it running well for several years at minimal cost. Since I had just purchased the home, I elected to keep it running for a few years. They serviced it for under $100. During the next year, they serviced it again for less than $75. The following year, I called and told them I thought it might be time to purchase a new one. The owner came to the house, explained in detail the different options I had. He explained what they did and gave me prices. I wish I could remember what the prices were, but I do remember they were substantially less than two other companies I talked to. The installers came to the house the next week to install a new A/C. They were polite, did their job without stopping, they did not smoke and left the area cleaner than it was they when arrived. Just as the owner had promised, the cost on my electric bill was almost cut in half. The new A/C paid for itself in 14 months. There was no hard sell, no "if you don't replace this unit with the one we recommend, we cannot guarantee anything". They did not recommend a yearly inspection, stood behind the warranty quickly when the A/C had a problem with a part. The next 12 years, the A/C had only two issues. One involved a week end. When I called they explained the charges and asked if I would like to wait until Monday. Since I did not want to wait, the service person on call came within two hours. Unfortunately for me, when he got there the A/C worked perfectly. The service man told me he felt bad about charging me overtime when there was nothing he needed to do. So he did a maintenance on the A/C and did not charge for it, only charged for the emergency call out. I have recommended Southern Comfort since they first serviced the old A/C. Everyone I know that has used them has been impressed. I cannot say enough good things about them. Being a widow, it has been difficult knowing who to trust with mechanical things and who is giving me a "story". They are simply one of the best Ft Myers has to offer.

I found Souththern Comfort via a friend when I first moved to Ft Myers in 1995. My A/C was not cooling and our FPand L bill was in excess of $300 for a 1200 square foot home. They came out the same day and told me the A/C was very old, but they could keep it going for many years at minimum cost if I wished. They filled it with freon and it continued to work for the next four years. At about the two year mark, I had a leak in the ceiling which the plumber said was an A/C issue. Southern Comfort came and took care of that for less than $150. In four years, the cost to keep that A/C (not including FPand L) was less than $300. The day came when I decided that a new A/C was really the way to go. Southern Comfort to the rescue again. The owner himself came to the house, spent more than three hours explaining to me how they worked, what size I needed and what brand was the best to get. He gave me three choices that he felt would work for me. I chose one and he suggested that I go with a unit that was no only smaller but less expensive. Same national brand. They put it in the following week. The young men that put it in were professional and spot on. That A/C is now almost 11 years old. It paid for itself in less than six months. I have only had to have it taken care of three times. Once was covered under the extended warranty. Another time it was only throwing warm air. They unfroze it and then showed me how I could do it to save a service call. I have never had to wait if it was an emergency. If it was not an emergency, they are usually here the next day. They have never tried to sell me anything, they have always explained what they were doing and been professional and gentlemen. They are absolutely one of the finest Ft Myers has to offer. I have a friend that lives in Heron's Glen and was looking for a new A/C comany. I told her about Southern Comfort and when she told one of the groups she meets with there--a big "they are the best" came from almost everyone there. Their reputation preceeds them.
Description of Work: Our A/C was not "kicking in". I called Southern Comfort early in the morning. They called back within the hour and were there before noon. Of course, when they arrived it was working perfectly. However, after checking it over thoroughly, they found nothing wrong and charged us NOTHING. Not even a service call.
