As mentioned we did not actually have some here to assist with help.
Description of Work: We scheduled service with this provider but had to cancel so we did not actually have a person come to the house to assist us. However, the company contact came to our home, took all our information and lined up the help we requested in a very timely manner and was very pleasant to work with. We will contact them again when a situation arises that we need help in the home.

I was very glad that Seniors Helping Seniors was able to provide not only all the services we needed (bathroom and shower assistance, dressing and personal hygiene assistance, food preparation, laundry, changing bed linens, etc.) but also managed to send the same CNAs out consistently so that my 93-year-old mom would not have to deal with a new person every day or every other day. We initially needed 4 hours in the morning and 4 hours at night on the five days a week when I could not be there. As mom improved, the hours were cut back to just 4 hours a day with the provider making sure that whatever mom needed for the rest of the day was available and easy to access (commode, meals, pills, books, phone, TV remote, etc.). Happily, mom is now able to function pretty well on her own, but she appreciated the assistance so much that she continues to use the service for 4 hours a day as much for the help as for the company. The gals that see her are clean, friendly, efficient, capable, and trustworthy. I would recommend SHS to anyone who needs help with ADLs as well as medical monitoring. The rates are very reasonable, and the company is willing to work with you to make if as affordable as possible.
Description of Work: My mom was suddenly physically incapacitated and I needed help meeting her needs. I called Seniors Helping Seniors and someone came out to see me the next day, and I had service for my mom available the day after that.

I was a little surprised having to pay in advance for the services. I am constantly monitoring my bill to make sure I am not being charged twice for one day. I feel they should have talked to me about the billing procedures up front.
Description of Work: A man comes out 3 days a week for 4 hours to sit with my father who is 95 years old. He bathes, gets him breakfast and helps him get dressed. He also takes him for walks in the wheelchair.

Seniors Helping Seniors of Southwest Florida came to the home my daughter purchased for me in Southwest Cape Coral Florida. Connie Gwin and Nancy Zelden (Co-owners of the franchise) evaluated my needs and cost for providing adequate care, such as cooking, shopping and the cleanliness of my home. They determined that 4 to 5 hours of Service Providers three times a week would meet my needs. At a later date Connie Gwin determined I needed a nurse every two weeks to keep track of my medications and vital signs. Because I use my pool daily, for physical therapy, and the fact it needed minor repair, Connie Gwin coordinated the hiring of a local contractor to repair the pool coping. Additional repair and maintenance services available in the local area were recommended when concerns were expressed by me, my daughter or the provider working for their organization. When my daughter expressed concern about an individual working for their organization, they immediately arranged a replacement in order to alleviated her concern. Family members when they visit me for a few days have been treated with respect and additional cooking and accommodations have been provided without additional charge. When special occasions needed a reliable hosting service the providers working for Seniors Helping Seniors agreed to deliver the additional working hours that made the occasion a success. They in fact chipped in and personally made the event special. By maintaining a professional image, while providing senior care; Seniors Helping Seniors is able to promote the feeling of concern and attentiveness that makes it feel like family is caring for you and everything will be alright. The cost is reasonable, the service is exceptional and the people running the organization are reliable. Within the last week one of my providers became seriously ill and was unable to continue working. One of the owners contacted me immediately and informed me of my options. Communications of this type are essential for my family's peace of mind.
Description of Work: I'm an 80 year old man that moved to South West Florida after losing his wife of 55 years to Alzheimer's in February 2011. Seniors Helping Seniors of Southeast Pennsylvania helped me care for my wife the last two years of her life. I had two heart attacks, within a week, in late March 2011. My two children convinced me to move to Cape Coral Florida, a short distance from my daughter. She lives here in Cape Coral Florida with her husband and my two grand-daughters. My daughter contacted Seniors Helping Seniors of Southwest Florida to assist her in caring for me.

So far this hospital service has not been required, but Connie Gwin of the SHS staff has stayed in touch throughout our relationship, and I have found her very responsive to my questions and needs. SHS can also provide flexible visits to my sister in her assisted living facility if needed.
Description of Work: Seniors Helping Seniors will provide emergency attendance at hospital for my sister until such time as I can be available. Her assisted living staff does not provide this service, and I live in Michigan. Fees are arranged on a contingency basis.

Mom loved her caregiver and got kisses on arrival and departure.
Description of Work: Seniors Helping Seniors provided a person to give me respite from caring for my Mom two days a week. The people were caring and provided excellent service - companionship and lunch prep. I'd use them again. When her care required more than they were licensed for, they recommended another provider.

The responsibilities including making lunch, keeping Mom company and taking her to the bathroom as needed. The person who came was very nice and Mom was happy with the service. She has dementia, so she's not often too happy about being around someone new.
Description of Work: I am the caretaker for my mother, who is 87. I had occasion to leave the house and hired Seniors Helping Seniors to come take care of Mom. Upon contacting them, the owners came over and explained their services and rates. On the day of caretaking, one of the owners came to introduce the person who would be staying with Mom. They were here early.
