I awoke one morning to no air. I was talking to a friend of mine and he knew someone that did AC work. I called them ( Sandusky AC ) and they ( Mark Sandusky and Angel ) came right over. Said I had a freon leak and that my old unit wasn't worth fixing. They said they would put freon back in at $450 dollars and that if I bought a new unit from them they would waive that cost. Knowing my unit was old I went for it. Feeling good that I would have an up to date AC. I even offered to pay extra for a larger unit if need be because I wanted it to cool good. Angel told me it would be a waste of money that this was the same size as my old one. And with all the new technology it would cool better and save in electrical cost. Before the freon leaked out my old unit was capable of freezing you out. They came and did the install and after falling through my ceiling (which they never came and fixed even after saying they had a drywall man that would come) and was fixing to start cutting on my trusses and roof supports because they didn't want to work around them. But it worked out and I now have a brand new energy efficient cooling machine in my attic. Something to be very proud of. WRONG! After a couple of weeks the unit quit cooling. And it's worth noting in my contract it says they are to flush all the condensation lines. I text Angel about it not working. He tells me he isn't on call to call Mark and gave me the number. I called the number and got a recording from Angel saying he was unavailable but to leave a message and he would call back. I did but no return call. So I text Angel back and he told me to take a shop vac out and vacuum my lines out and it should start working. This is just a couple of weeks after they supposedly flushed them. I didn't do it but it started working the next day. A week later it started getting hot in the house and the unit was running all day. It was 82* in the house. I text him again and he said it was do to the extremely hot weather we were having. I didn't realize 94* was extremely hot in South Florida. After 3 days of texting he said he and Mark would come out and look. The next day (a Thursday) Angel showed up without Mark and said I needed another return air and they would be back next Tuesday morning (today) to install the new return. I told him my best friend from out of state was in and Tuesday is his last day so I needed this done early. At 9:45 I text him to see when he was coming. He told me he would try to be here by 2:00 and that I have all kinds of duct problems and that my insulation isn't thick enough. I have between 18"-20" of insulation. I told him not to bother and am currently looking for an attorney to handle this matter. Recap: After spending $5,100, I have a hole in my ceiling, an AC unit that runs 24 hours a day to keep us cooled down to 82*. I've been stood up. I've been told to go and vacuum my lines to try and make it get colder. I've been told I must not have enough insulation. I've been told I need more return air. Now I'm being told it's because of my duct work. Which none of this was an issue with my old unit. I purchased this in 4-19-2016. As of 6-28-2016 I've have finally run out of patience.
