When they installed the countertops one of the final things they do is wipe them down with a solvent. They got solvent on my cabinets, it took off the finish up about 3" high and about a foot long. They knew they had done it becauce they went to my painter and asked him if he could fix it. The painter told me about it. A few minutes later the granit guy came up to me and asked me to sign a paper that said that they had done a good job and that there were no problems. He didn't think I knew about the cabinet. I refused to sign the paper. They never fixed the cabinet.

My experience with Roma Granite Inc. started out with my being sent to Tac Granite in Fort Myers. After making a few selections I quickly learned that the pricing and level of granite quality told to me by Tac had no correlation to the pricing that Roma Granite was going to charge me. So even though I was told I was selecting a lower priced product, Roma's price was much higher. The second provider I was sent to, Granite Express, showed me the lower priced products and Roma's pricing again was not in line with what I was selecting. I finally made my selection at Tac and I was told the 2 slabs I selected would be sent over to Roma. In order to proceed I had to give them a substantial deposit of 50%. After many weeks of calling to find out when my slabs were being delivered, Roma set an appointment for me to come over and layout the templates that were made in my kitchen. I showed up at the appointed time only to find out that no one was there. No one bothered to call me and cancel. My slabs had not been delivered as promised. I asked to speak to the owner and was told she doesn't speak English! During this process of kitchen renovation, I was moving out of my old house into this new one I was renovating and had a deadline that I could not exceed. Roma was given sufficient time to complete this order. As a single senior citizen, I counted on this company to perform as promised. When I asked for my money back they tried to tell me that 15% of the total order would be kept out since I was canceling. As I'm standing in there office crying, their office manager Carla came out of the back and tried to console me. She was very helpful and took me over to Tac to layout my kitchen counters. When I arrived at Tac, I found out that the two slabs I selected no longer matched and the layout could not be concluded. The next day or so, I went back over to Granite Express and selected two other slabs. It took another week to have them delivered after many missed appointments and no call backs. Now I was down to less than a week to have my kitchen counters fabricated and installed. The counters look terrific. HOWEVER, after three days the glue holding the eating bar (the largest and heaviest piece they installed, separated from the riser. I started calling immediately and no one called me back. I was calling and leaving messages for everyone in the company. Not only was I afraid the counter would wind up crashing thru my tile floors, but I have two very small dogs which are my lifes companions and I am terrified they'd be killed if and when the counter crashes. Finally after repeated phone calls and emails to Carla (office manager) she called me and told me the Company was sold and everyone was fired by the new Owner. I am now stuck with a large section of my granite not being held together on the riser. The only thing holding it up are a few metal supports.I drove over to the office hoping to speak to the new owner (after a dozen phone calls to the still answering telephone answering machine) went unanswered. The place was locked down tight, lights off and no one there. What a nightmare. The new owner, I was told, purchased the existing stock and client list. I would NOT recommend that anyone use this company, whether new or old, as you would think they'd honor the clients they took over from Roma. At this time I don't know what name they're opening under. But they are located at 3580 Metro Parkway in Fort Myers. This was the most upsetting experience I've ever had working with a contractor. I've built several homes and never was so insulted by an organization such as this. The fact that I am now left with a slab of granite with daylight showing between the counter and the riser only speaks to their disregard for safety and lack of regard for professional conduct with clients. The one person I thought I could count on Carla Maia assured me that even though she lost her job too, she would help me resolve this situation. She now no longer returns my calls or replies to my emails. While I can understand her lack of interest now that she is no longer employed there, I had hoped that she just extend a helping hand to a senior with no one else to turn to.
Description of Work: This Granite Fabricator ws refered to me by my Realtor. Roma Granite sent me to two different granite providers to make my selection. After my selection(s) were made, the company cut, polished and installed the granite counters and the sink which I purchased separately.
