The so call tech. said he cut the plywood short, and he was there, only to replace the plywood my son hire this terrible company last year. I ask the tech. to call a supervisor, I'm still waiting. An Per my active duty navy son who is still overseas. told me they suppose to install a UV Light, tech. neither told me he installed the UV Light he even cut a hole in the ducting that leads out of my air handler. even the tape that was use was water log and adhesive will not stick. he kept telling me NO he not going to replace the plywood. So I told him, get the F out of here. That's the military discount that PENGUIN GIVES OUR ACTIVE DUTY. I'm the father writing this review, also a former military member and a senior citizen. PENGUIN is not BBB approved. Not know what my son pay. don't want to stress my son. he has need to be alert on the other side of the world. BTW tech. told me, he does this for a living, I reply, cheating people for a living. price, estimated at 1,000 dollar, my son has the receipt MEMBER. Penguin knows my son back overseas. Therefore no need yo fix the problem.

Because I had used this company a few years ago for my AC maintenance, I decided to contact them again. After I made the appointment, I decided to check the Angie’s list reviews and found that the company had terrible reviews equating to a “C “rating. I actually considered cancelling the appointment, However, it was already set for 9 am the next morning. I will state, that they said that would contact me 30 minutes in advance. They did, the service person, Marcell was on time, he came in, very professional, removed his shoes, did an assessment and went to work. I am not sure if the reviews are older or not, but if they treat every customer as my work was handled, there is no reason why they should not be an A rating. ps, the best thing about Marcel was that he did not try to over sell for extra money on the visit, which I have had from other service people. He informed me of issues that I need to consider and left, thanks for allowing me to be an adult. I will use the again.

We had a hard to fit spot for the air handler, but Gus was thorough, professional, and honest. He spent a good two hours trying to find what we needed. Then the installers had it in that very same day.

The crew of three arrived shortly before 10 in the morning and didn't leave until well after 4 in the afternoon. All this time they worked steadily and quietly; of course, the equipment makes noise, but the men did not. They were polite and patient as I asked questions and pointed out any concerns I had. Yes, the job was pricey but, considering the labor that went into the project and the need to have clean air and a relatively dust-free home, I feel it was well worth the price.
Description of Work: Once again Penguin Air came to our rescue. We've used this company before for general maintenance as well as replacement of the AC system. When our house was suddenly inundated with white material, we knew to call Penguin to find a solution to a problem. And they did. We learned that this debris was getting past joints where the tape had come loose; we also learned that the joints needed to be sealed with mastic. Once the men were up in the attic, they discovered that a section of the duct had been damaged, possibly by a critter, and had to be replaced. The entire system was decontaminated by fogging it with an EPA registered sanitizer and a sealant. The coils were cleaned with a portable pressure washer. The interior of the air handler was cleaned and sanitized.

The worst possible experience. They never permitted the job, didn't connect the AC to the ducts, the AC kept shutting off (because the condensation in the attic was filling the pan, and auto shut off valve was triggered). We spent hundreds and hundreds to service the new machine until we finally called another company out. That company told us that the AC was never properly connected, old faulty wires were left dangling. I called the owner of the company, and he said "The county isn't going to do anything, I'll tell them it's the first time we forgot to pull a permit and we won't even pay a fine. Sue us, we have no money" Sure enough, the county not only did not fine them, but they let them get a permit 5 years after the installation. Just last week, the machine broke again, this time we had to replace the motor. Piece of **** company.

Sales guy promised to do AC, all necessary ductwork, update wiring, put in UV light, seal all around the unit and ducts to prevent leaks AND pull a permit. He put in new AC, but did none of the other things promised both verbally and in writing. I had four other companies come out to tell me what was going wrong with our system, because it kept shutting down, and they all said that the unit was never installed properly, the duct work was deteriorated, air was leaking all around the unit because it was never sealed properly, the unit was more powerful than the prior unit so new returns and ducts should have been installed in the house to prevent the unit from choking and sweating. But it did choke and sweat, filling the pan with water continually -- so much so that we bought a shop vac and had our 15 year old empty it regularly. Those rival companies also told us we had microbial growth in the attic due to the condensation from the unit sweating in the attic and suggested we check the ceilings in closets under the unit. They are mottled black and gray. All of the companies who came to look at our unit agreed that the wiring was decades old, the duct work never updated, the UV light, if it ever worked, was a one time use only - no bulb replacement possible. All agreed that the job would never have passed inspection, and therefore was probably never permitted. I called the County and they confirmed the company had never applied for a permit for the job. I filed a complaint with the County and called the owner of the company. "Mark", the owner of the company, started by saying he was sure that I was mistaken and that they had applied for a permit. Then switched tactics, laughing at me saying that they were never going to fix the damage, and that the County was never going to punish them enough to permit every job. Sure enough, the County allowed Mark to apply for the permit 5 years after the fact, after my complaint, and after damages, and now all they have to do is properly seal the unit they put in five years ago. I will have over $20,000 in remediation work to do. They will get off scot free. Don't hire.

It was terrible and disappointing. An agent reviewed the project, determined it could be done and gave an estimate, which was ridiculously high. Installation was scheduled and a deposit was made. The installers canceled the morning of installation and the project was rescheduled two days later. The morning of installation, the manager called to say they couldn't do the job. This was an incredible inconvenience for me because I had people there to help me transfer my wine from storage to home cellar. I found someone else to do the work, but it took another week and had to transfer the wine by myself. Very unprofessional.

Because we knew we would need to replace the system, Penguin was contacted before we came down to Florida so we were first in touch "long distance." Once we arrived in Florida we met with one other company as well as Penguin to compare prices and equipment. After talking with Penguin, we made an immediate decision to work with this company. The men clearly knew their business; they worked efficiently and neatly. They were also very pleasant and receptive to any questions or concerns we had. We also appreciated the fact that there was no attempt to oversell us on equiipment that we didn't need - unlike the other company. What we got was ideal for the size and needs of our house. When we had a question after the installation, a visit to our house was immediately arranged. We will surely be using Penguiin for maintenance.
Description of Work: The invoice for this service is in my Florida home so I am far from certain as to the price paid for replacing the AC/heating system. What is important to know is that Penguin was highly recommended by my Home Watch person who is familiar with the companies of those who provide this service. The techs had to remove all the old equipment and then install a new air handler that is placed high up in the garage. Another unit was placed outdoors. They also replaced special filters that are high up on the ceilings with those that do not have to be cleaned on a monthly basis. They didn't leave the house until they were certain the new equipment was functioning properly.

I needed to have my AC drain unclogged, It costed me $140 and they solved my problem. He used bleach but he didn't have the bleach I had to give it to him. They were very responsive but he did get lost on his way to my house. I wouldn't use them again.

They were on time and very competitive. I have never had a problem with the unit and my tenants are very happy with the service. My only regret is that I didn't use this company for all of my other rentals. Once I saw how professional and honest this company was I had them service all of my rental properties to include my own home. Since retiring from the military and Moving to SW Florida I have had to deal with many shady companies. I am here to tell you this company is by far the most honest and competent that I have come across. The technician that came out to the house was a young fellow who said yes sir and went to work immediately. When I asked him how he learned about AC he said he became certified in college but perfected his knowledge from the training he received while at the company. To my astonishment he said that the owner has a mini school with Actual running AC and all technicians have to prove their competence prior to becoming members of this company. I would love to see other companies have this approach to customer service. I think everyone in SW Florida needs to know about this company.

They were always so nice to me. They were really informative and answered my questions with extreme patience. They calmed me down and were so very helpful and polite. They came out and took care of it right away. They even had an online coupon, and their prices were very reasonable. I haven’t had any problems since then and I was very pleased with their service. They really went above and beyond!

While they located the coolant leak, Penguin Air was going to charge me double to replace the coils and recharge the system than what another company was charging. While I'm certain they are competent at their job, their prices are not reasonable.

Called company after searching internet. Company was out within an hour, and the technician replaced capacitor and refrigerant to system. Advertised no service call charge with repairs. No wonder. Parts cost were extremely inflated.
Description of Work: Replaced condenser motor starter capacitor and added refrigerant. Was leaving state next day and didn't have time to shop around, plus being on a weekend my friends choice didn't work. Parts costs were rediculous

Even on a weekend as you have experienced, and to assure good customer service as you have experienced all of our service trucks are fully stocked with quality parts, we guarantee our parts and labor for 1 year. We are constantly monitoring our competitors prices and sale promotions to stay competitive in this service industry, typically the difference between similar outfits is 5%-10% in your case meaning $15 - $30 difference lower or higher in price, what sets us apart is Staff for customer service, parts stock and guarantee and the fact that we are always open. We called for a service appointment. A salesman determined that our ac unit outside was not repairable and that we would need to replace both the inside and outside units. We had them install the new units on Thursday. Our brand new ac unit worked for one day and quit. They came out and could not repair it, said they would be back Monday at 9. ( no apology) We spent the weekend in a hotel at our expense and left the hotel at 8:30 am to meet them at 9. They did not show up or call until 10:30 to say they would be late. They showed up about 30 minutes later. Things were obviously not going well and the repair man called for more help and more parts. The gentleman who was in and out of my home did not speak English so I called the phone number on the invoice and expressed my concern. He informed me that he knew nothing about the situation and was doing me a favor by taking my phone call since he was on vacation in New York. As I continued to get no help and the problem escalated, he told me it wasn't his fault because they "just install them, they don't manufacture them". Although we now have ac, I don't believe that the unit is performing well. They were messy, rude and completely unprofessional. This was by far the worst customer service I have ever experienced.

OK, NOW LETS TALK FACTS! Penguin Air service over 4000 customers per year, and performs 100’s of installs annually, yet she is the only customer that felt the need to post a bad review in every website, in fact she has also gone to the BBB and they had dismissed the case as she is complaining without a real case, the system was not sold at $5,000 but at a very competitive price of $4,200 with an in-house interest Free Financing. The system unfortunately broke down on a weekend and nobody has ever denied her service in fact we were there within the hour from the time she called and the malfunction part was changed the next business day not to mention that not 1 tech showed up but 3 were there on Monday morning with parts ready to solve her problem. I am truly sorry about her inconvenience but the review posted was not called for. It is unfortunate that she fails to recognize good service, and in return posts such a bad review causing harm to good customers that deserve the good service Penguin Air has to provide. New system was installed on Thursday June 14th as mentioned, our records show that the system was performing well when the installers left the home. Saturday time stamp was 1pm customer claiming system not cooling, 2:07pm technician arrives at the home. Technician troubleshoots system finds a restriction in what appears to be the TXV valve or coil. I Marc (General Manager) spoke to {member name removed} for a good 20 to 30 minutes trying to explain the reasons why we could not get this fixed this very weekend and had to wait until Monday. Reason 1. Supply house is closed Reason 2. These are serialized parts that must be warranty processed or they will void the 10 year part warranty. Compensation: Customer was given a $100 credit to stay in a hotel if need be for their inconvenience. Monday Morning June 18th. At 7:30 am (time supply house opens) we placed a call to order the coil and TXV Valve, we had located the TXV Valve in Naples and the coil in Ft. Myers. Technician Edwin drives to both locations to pick up these parts, Two installers were pulled from another job to help Edwin with the coil change needed. Not 1 but 3 Technicians show up by 10:06am to try to fix this problem as soon as possible. Penguin Air does not at anytime mention that we would guarantee that the unit will never breakdown, however we do guarantee top customer service as she had experienced, however, she FAILS to recognize that there was absolutely nothing any air conditioning service company could do under this circumstance, it is unfortunate that the system broke down on a weekend and that in order for us to do the work is not a question of our labor force but the fact that the supply house is closed till Monday morning. Nevertheless we have provided a credit towards a hotel accommodations for their inconvenience, this was offered to {Member name removed} a $100 credit to his account in which is a credited amount that we do not offer to anyone. Summary of Customer service response time: Customer calls for service, Technician arrives at their home in 1 hour 7 minutes. Monday morning supply house opens at 7:30am parts are in two different cities, not 1 but 3 technicians arrive at their home with parts by 10am that’s only 2 and a half hour after the supply house opened, and on top of that we had given {member name removed} $100 credit. It is physically impossible to give any better service!
