Newell Lawn Care & Property Maintenance

Horrible lawn service and customer service. I have been trying to get someone from Newell to my property for over 6 months to address an issue which is clearly covered in our contract. The landscapers also when spraying for weeds spray weed killer on all areas of the grass, also walking through it tracking in the yard and killing grass everywhere. in stead of edging as they should they sprayed a 7 inch area of week killer along all my landscaping. Looks horrible. Stay away!!

Very disappointed. I called firm after reading good reviews. Wanted an exam of our sprinkler system as it wasn’t operating. Their “expert” came out, spent a short time and said command box would need replacing. I said, okay, foolishly not getting a quote, he came back few day later, not even ringing door, replaced it, left the old one in the yard and did not even leave owner’s manual. I thought it was fixed but later discovered it still wasn’t working. Called back, same person came. We found out the filter was clogged with algae I flushed it out for him and it started working. He left and as it cycled through all zones, I find one in back yard gushing out water (it’s broken!) and now I’m quite upset he never went through checking to see if all system was operating properly. Which is primarily what I wanted. Now I’v got to get someone to fix head, but it won’t be Newell. BTW-new command box cost me $500 and I don’t even know it was new, or not. Installed without our knowledge, didn’t see box nor receive owner manual for its operation, and they can’t get me one. Overall a very bad experience.

The guy came and assessed the repair needed and said four solenoids were fried and needed to be replaced. They charged me $90 which was outrageous for the 20 minutes it took to do the job.

We had a different lawn service, but on a recommendation, chose Newell to redo our landscaping. We were so impressed, we fired our weekly lawn service and switched to Newell. It was a bit more money, but our prior lawn service didn’t do anything but mow and edge. Newell trims our bushes, manicures the palms and bamboo and weeds the beds. They are amazing and well worth the money.

In April 2014 we hired Newell to do weekly lawn maintenance on the Premium offers. We also needed a landscaping over hall for our new home. They cut back the Ficus trees and cleaned up the yard. They emailed us a picture of plants for the flower beds and differences in mulch color. I agreed to the red rock and plants. Then nothing happened for 5 weeks. I finally got in touch with the owner and all of a sudden it was done. They also installed new landscape lighting, however it's been 4 1/2 months and they still haven't buried the cable lines. We have asked several times, but it still hasn't been done. Yesterday I noticed 2 hibiscus bushes were dying and may have been infested with bugs. I emailed the company and also reminded them about the unburied cables to the lights. Justin replied that he would be out here tomorrow to take care of what needs to be done and that he thought Chris had buried the cables. He said he would take care of it. Never showed. They do a pretty good job on weekly maintenance. Gates always closed so the dogs don't get out. But not reliable for other services.

I've had some good experiences and some not so good experiences. Some of the bushes that they installed died. They never came back to replace them. Most of the time, I would use them. They've been adequate but I wouldn't say outstanding. Their follow-up is almost nonexistent. For some jobs, they have done an adequate job. I also think that they're higher priced than some of the other places.

They have come a couple of times so far and the yard looks great

Fine. however some of the transplanted shrubs had died and we notified the company of this condition and we were told that the foreman had seen the plants and that were ok. Not sure if he ever was out there to look at the plants but eventually we pulled the shrubs out ourselves. So were disappointed in this aspect.Overall we were satisfied.

A lawncare guy in Home Depot gave me Rich's number because he knew I was looking for help with my sprinklers. I called Rich and told him I needed my sprinklers checked, timer set, and head replaced. He came out checked everything, called me w/estimate of $150, and an addtional $150 if I wanted the moisute sensor installed which is required by Lee County. He worked on all sprinklers, replaced numerous heads, raised at least 3 of them, installed one in a corner where I had no coverage, and reset timer as required. He installed the moisture sensor where I requested. All work was $300. He did an excellent job and explained everything he did and showed me how all worked, and was very professional and worth every penny. My sprinklers are working fine. I would definitely call him again and plan to do so every 6 months just to check the system. I have recommended him to several friends.
