Focused on Bathrooms and Kitchens remodeling for more than 12 years.
With extensive experience in REMODELING PROJECTS since 2012, we have rebuilt homes after hurricanes and transformed mobile homes into sturdy, storm-resistant spaces. We have taken care of full remodel projects all around Lee County, Collier County and Charlotte County.
Our commitment to quality ensures that every project is completed with attention to detail, considering accessibility, spaciousness, storage needs and high level finishings.
We bought an older rental that had basic features and needed an update. Craig and his team communicated with us every step of the way. All of the work that was completed looks fantastic. I feel much more at home and it did not cost me my sanity or an absurd amount. He’s very knowledgeable and makes sure everything gets done. I will definitely keep their number for any future work and would recommend to anyone.

Craig, from Handy Vets, was very professional. He explained the steps involved in the job, the time frame and provided an estimate for the job. The guys that came to do the work were polite, efficient and cleaned up at the end of each work day. They came on time and communicated any changes via text or phone call. Craig, the owner of Handy Vets, came to inspect the completed job. I would definitely hire them again.

As attested to in DBPR CILB 4355 - Construction-Related Complaint Addendum submitted to the Florida Division and Professional Regulation on May 13, 2018, it is my contention that Handy Vets and its representatives willfully engaged in Financial Dishonesty and Misconduct with regard to its dealings with my family and me. In early 2016, Handy Vets was contracted to provide a range of services at our home, acknowledged completion of the services as stipulated in the contract document, was paid in full for the services, yet did not perform the services. It was not until 2018 that these facts were discovered. The damages arising from Handy Vet's failure to perform under the terms of the contract have resulted in considerable hardship on the part of my wife and myself, as well as the contracted buyer of that home, and the seller of the new home that was at that time under contract. In 2018, the cost of the completion of the services for which Handy Vets was paid but did not perform, along with legal actions associated with Handy-Vets failure to, and our attempts to compel Handy-Vets to, perform as per the terms of the contract exceeded $8,500.00 in expenses to my household.

The nature of this complaint is based on the client seeking to permit an enclosed section of his residence; which was, we believe, originally an open air/screened lanai space. The client, in fact, did enter into a contract, with our firm, to construct a small wall section, (approximately 3 'X 10') on the exterior of his home. Also, we were contracted to do several handy-man type projects around the residence. We completed the tasks in a timely manner, and were compensated for the work. As a part of our contract, we were to assist the client in seeking a permit for the wall addition we constructed. When our agent contacted the local permitting authority, it was determined we would not need to secure a permit for this small amount of work. When the client pointed out our billing oversight to our staff, we gladly offered to refund the owner's payment for this part of the contract. The amount was $650.00. The client turned down our offer on several occasions. We did not construct the above mentioned room or take part in any of the original construction work. We were later contacted, by the client, and asked to have our firm obtain the necessary permit to allow his enclosed area to be listed as a section of the "under air" part of his residence. We replied we would be happy to assist, but as per our original contract (signed by the client and our firm) additional engineering and permit fees would be required. The client insists would not pay any of the fees and contunued to wante our firm to obtain the necessary permit (Fees for this would be in excess of $2500). We explained the work was done by others and we could only assist him if he was willing to pay for the additional engineering and permitting fees. (Stated plainly in the original contract) The client refused our offer and contacted the contractor licensing authorities to seek a review of his complaint. After their review of the contract, and meeting with our firm to determine our position, it was concluded no action would be taken against us. The client admitted the original enclosure project was not undertaken or contracted through our firm. We continue to assume no liability, on our part, to secure the referenced room enclosure permit without proper compensation. A copy of the original contract is available for review by any interested parties. We regret the inconvenience to our client, but do maintain our position of not being the contractor for the work, in question. Through our attorney, we have maintained any additional charges or fees required to secure a permit for the non-permitted construction, is the responsibility of the owner.
Craig and his team were prompt to come and bid our project. We accepted his bid and he was going to draw up plans and submit them for a permit. This is where his professionalism stopped. Never heard back from Craig. My husband made a call to him and he said he was ill that is why he had not contacted us. To date we have not heard back from him. The first time we spoke with him was in mid January! Very disappointing as we liked the idea of hiring Military Vets!

Handy Vets is an excellent group! We have been trying find a good handyman for a long yime. The group is very professional and responsive! Adam, the young man they sent out, was everything we could have asked for...and then some. Adam is extremely knowledgeable in all types of maintenance. He is very efficient and fast to complete all we asked him to do. We couldn’t ask for a better worker. Adam was able to handle everything from plumbing to building construction. We are so happy to let Handy Vet (and Adam) do any and all jobs in the future.

We needed two things done in our condo. It took them weeks to get the job done. Whenever we called to see when they scheduled us, we constantly had to go through their answering service, they rarely answered their phone. This was VERY annoying as calls weren't returned for days. Understandably they were probably very busy after the hurricane, but their communication and follow through was really lousy. And, we certainly weren't their biggest customer, but if they didn't want to do the work, or couldn't fit us in within a "reasonable amount of time" then they should have declined the work from the start. Wanted to support our vets, but there's got to be a better way to do it. They need to run their company a lot better.

We are very sorry to have not lived up to our normal standards. In this case, we were very busy with fulfilling our obligations related to Hurricane IRMA. What the reviewer has failed to mention is we came out to their site on two occassions, to review the problem. On the first trip (no charge) we were told our techincian would have to wait for entrance into the hi-rise condo unit until a person could come and sign him in. We do understand this time of year schedules are very tight for everyone, but we did wait to review the project. We scheduled a second tirp to perform the repairs after a disussion with owner, and arrived on time with the proper materials. The repair was performed and the invoice paid. We regret the mentioned non-response, but this time of year, with all the returning yearly residents, we have done our best to be responsive to our client's requests. In this case, we must have not been good enough. In our defense, the repairs were performed for a nominal fee. Sorry it was not good enough.

It went great! Craig was great to work with and all went smoothly And I was so excited to find someone who could do a variety of things, since I am frequently in need of capable people, and hiring vets makes it even better. HOWEVER, I called Craig again, twice. Both times he was to call me back. I had a list of items I needed done, since I had mold in my house and needed some drywall work done after walls will be torn out. It’s been several weeks and nothing from Craig. I’m super disappointed, since I really thought I had found a reliable company to deal with. So the hunt is on for a new company.

They did an exceptional job, disassembled the pool cage and moved it to the front for debris pickup. Had friends stop by while they were doing the cleanup and said it was a great team working on the project and that they did a great job. They also put up orange temporary fencing around the pool, couldn't ask for anything more will use them in the future.
Description of Work: Hurricane Irma cleanup, our pool cage was destroyed by a tree falling on it and the hurricane winds. I messaged Handy Vets through Angie's List and they responded within the hour and came out the next day to clean it up mind you this was 3 days post Irma.
All three jobs were done very nicely, professional, and courteous.
Description of Work: I had three separate projects that this contractor performed. Two of the jobs were subcontracted - the concrete slab for the shed was subcontracted - but was very nicely done, and the staining of my fence was subcontracted - and very nicely done. The third job involved inside handyman services, including widening a closet doorway, and hanging a few new doors and redoing some doorway trim.

Our front door replacement project went fantastic with Handy Vets. After getting a few outrageously priced front door estimates, we came across Handy Vets on Angie's List. The owner came out and reviewed our project and we got an incredibly reasonably priced estimate within a few days. We agreed to go forward with the project, got it scheduled and they came out and removed the old door, frame and sidelight and put in the new door. The door installers were extremely professional, courteous and friendly and completed the whole job in just over half a day. It came out amazing, ! I cant say enough about what a great remodel experience this was for us. Thank you Handy Vets!

They came when they said. Quoted the job. Job went a little over the quote, but the job took longer than expected. The person they sent knew what he was doing. Very happy with the results.
Description of Work: I had a floating laminate floor that was installed incorrectly.
I am very happy. Working with Craig was wonderful. He coordinated everything with the workers and it was done within my time frame. I would hire them again as well as recommend them to everyone.
Description of Work: I purchased a home and needed the entire interior painted (many nail/screw holes filled), new lights and fans put up, few curtain rods, a bath re-tiled (shower only). Some trim put down to complete installation of a laminate floor. There were other items also to numerous to call out.

Took over a month for a 1 week job. Left the door open in the rain for hours. Did not raise the room as high as agrees. Shody tile work that was done so poorly I had to have it redone since he would not respond to my calls once he was paid, and the room still leaks. An amateurish application of the sealant was done. A complete rip off. Took me for $5k and I had to spend it again to get it done right since he refused to call me back or correct anything. Do not hire!
Description of Work: Elevate the rear room and seal the base inside and outside to stop the leaking.

While we always appreciate the reviews provided by our customers, a review of this nature is so contrary to the vast majority of our typical work record, we feel a rebuttle is required. Our firm prides itself on doing the project right the first time; however, problems, on a few occasions do occur. We provide a one year warranty on any project or repair we perform. We have always provided this warranty and will continue to do so, in the future. The warranty is the reason I am confused by the clients claim we never responded to his calls for additional service. The confusion comes into play by the fact, all calls, to Handy-Vets, are either answered by myself or the answering network we maintain. I have reviewed the phone records for this client and can find no unanswered calls. In fact, this Angie's List review is the first time we have been made aware of any problems experienced on the project. We make ourselves available to answer calls (emergency or otherwise) 24 hours per day. As for the workmanship and time line mentioned, again we were very supprised to find objections to our work and time frame to perform it. The issue about the drainage in the room was originally a result of water standing in the back yard after a major rainfall. We raised the lanai floor and explained we had to wait for a substantial rain to see if the corrections was proper. While waiting for the rain, we excavated an areas along the exterior of the room and coated the outer walls with a supplier recommended sealeant, and added a rock fill to insure water runoff would be absorbed into the ground. Until now, we were not aware of any problems with the entire project. In summary, as I the owner of Handy-Vets, was the final contact with the client, I must assume all responsibility for this review. This review will be posted and examined by every member of Handy-Vets. In closing, I wish we had had a timely communication / review, so we could have corrected any issure last September.
