Handy Vets

Our A/C and ceiling fan both died on the same weekend. Although we had standing and table fans, the temperature in the house was 88 degrees and rising, so we were desperate to have the fan installed on a Sunday. Although they do not have Sunday hours, they do have emergency services available. The installer lives nearby, so by the time I got back from visiting my mother in the hospital, he was at our house and almost finished with the installation. I'm not certain in the rates we paid were higher because of the weekend work, but they were reasonable regardless. I am already making a list of things for them to do so we can use them again in the future.

They were really very nice. They were very professional. He was not an electrician but he was able to tell me that I had the wrong parts for the ceiling fan. So I have to drive all the way to home depot and home depot told me that I actually have the right parts and so they put it together for me there before I bring it back to him. But he still insists that I was wrong. He is not an electrician but it is still kind of annoying.

I have had contact with several of the veterans who work with Handy Vets. I appreciate the opportunity to hire veterans whenever possible. They have always been timely, courteous and very knowledgeable and they go the extra mile to make sure one is satisfied. I would definitely recommend Handy Vets.

Handy Vets contacted me to find out what I needed to do and set up a date to come to my house. One of my requests was to put in a new mailbox and post and, they arranged to pick up the mailbox and post from Lowe's for me and installed both. They also installed a new front door handle and lock system and, because it was smaller than the old one, they took my left over paint for the door and blended it around the handle/lock. They also fixed the broken plunger in my bathroom sink and installed new handles on the vanity doors. My outside electrical outlets were not working and, they figured our the cause and corrected the problem. All this was done within the 4 hours, without any problems and in a very polite and pleasant manner. I was very pleased with their work.

They were very prompt and professional and the work was done in a timely manner.

This company did not have adequate personnel nor resources to handle a major renovation. While they have a good person who does plumbing and tile work and a good handyman, poor planning and lack of suppliers for cabinets, plumbing and lighting fixtures turned a 6 week job into a 16 week job. Their original estimate of $17,800, including all materials, became a $30,000 job because we had to buy the cabinets and all plumbing and lighting fixtures separately. Because the company owner did not create a written plan or description of the total job and did not seem to take notes of our discussions, they had to redo several components because they did not comply with our original specifications. We are still not satisfied with some of the finished work. In summary, the owner over promised and under delivered.

The fence looks a lot better. They straighten 4x4 posts and replaced bad 2x4 and panels. Everyone was very nice and professional. Only thing that bothers me is that I went straight to them thinking I was hiring veterans. After talking with some of them, I found out that there was really only 1 vet among them. I was happy with the work, just think the name is misleading. I did choose them because of the name of the company, and I'm not sure I would have even looked at them otherwise. I did appreciate the job they did, just feel deceived by the name of the company.

Both Craig and David were very professional. They are courteous, clean, knowledgeable, and they do what needs to be done without trying to expand the job. They are trustworthy, and I would definitely use their services in the future.

I will certainly recommend Handy Vets for future business and networking. It's important to respect and honor our Vets. I take this responsibility very seriously.

The provider called to let us know he was running approximately ten minutes late. He was friendly and professional as he went around the house to inspect the windows and list what we would like to have done. He called back within three days with an estimate and the process we would go through in the event of a storm. We talked again a week later to confirm that we would enlist his services. I was impressed with the professionalism of all three contacts.

l called on Friday, May 16th and told Craig that I had a couple of lamps that needed repair. I told him it was a small job and I would be happy to deliver them instead of him coming out for a small job. He said absolutely no problem, he would stop by on the 19th, Monday, and see if he could fix them right there or would need to take them with him. He called later in the day on the 19th to tell me he wouldn't be there because he was with a client that had a small baby and they had no electricity and he didn't want to leave them until the job was done. He said he would call the next day, Tuesday, the 20th to set up a time to come out. He never called. I called back that Thursday, the 22nd and reiterated the fact that it was a small job and again, he said no problem. He had been sick with a bad flu but he would definitely call me after the holiday on the 26th of May. Well, today is the 29th and I still haven't heard a word from him. I really hate to write this kind of review because all the others were very good; however, I feel I went out of my way to be understanding that it was not a big job and might not be worth his time. He was the one that kept telling me it was not a problem and that he would do the job. It would have been much better if he had said no right up front. Now I've wasted a couple of weeks and have to start looking all over again. I'd feel very foolish to even consider calling again.

Provider was professional and completed the work on time. No problems or hassles with this contractor, a big plus. He came while we were at work and cleaned up so well I had to look to make sure the work was done. I would use the provider again and recommend him and his coworker to my family and friends. Price was fair based on other estimates.

Everything was great as usual. They're always on time, they always clean up after themselves, and they consistently do quality work. Furthermore, the company employs veterans that are in need of work which I really like, the gentlemen who do the work are always professional when dealing with us, and they're always upfront about pricing.

He was very nice, worked quickly, finished one job after another. All good work. Very pleased.

We ended up not using them, and they sent a refund for the deal. They seemed a bit unorganized, but they were very nice when offering the refund.

They were right on time and their prices were fair. I appreciate that they are a veteran because I am. I would recommend them to anyone.

I paid for this service 1/9/14 and the work was not done until 2/20/14. I felt this time period was unacceptable. The work was fine, good job. The repairman was not a veteran, so the name Handy Vets is not accurate. The owner/estimator described the work as replacement of a portion of the wood frame of the doorway. The actual repair was a patch. Not sure which method should have been used, why I hired a professional.

The work was very challenging but they all performed professionally and well. They had to move a shed containing gardening equipment, but did so and returned it to its original location including replacing the contents back very neatly. Craig Blume, the owner, was in constant contact with me throughout the projects as I was out of the country part of the time. I have already distributed his business card to neighbors as they were also very impressed. They were able to monitor progress while I was away. Craig also replaced cage door latches, making the screened enclosures much more secure. I will have them back for repainting of my house exterior and stucco repair at a later date. His pricing was very fair and I believe I received value for my investment in his work. They are the best!

They did a excellent job, in my eyes it was an A1 job. I would recommend them to anyone that needs handy men work.

It was ok. They were very nice they were helpful, the work was adequate.

He is very fast. It's a reasonable price. He was there within a couple of days. He was very speedy.

Terrible. They really didn't do anything I wanted done

We purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for six hours labor but this turned out to be twelve hours labor in total. Craig was able to perform all the tasks we asked of him. At times, he had to figure out problems as he went along.

These guys are very nice and very professional. I would recommend them to anyone.
