Description of Work: The ceiling in our Florida room was sagging. We hired Jeff Gerwitz to investigate the problem and help us with a solution. He found that the ceiling had been repaired poorly by a prior homeowner after a water leak. The roof leak had been professionally repaired, but the ceiling had been patched over by the prior homeowner. Jeff removed 3 layers of ceiling drywall, repaired the structure wood, insulated the space and installed a new wood ceiling with materials we provided. While he was doing this work, he provided assistance when I chose to add some can lights and new ceiling fans in the space. The total spent on the job including all labor and materials (including those provided by us) was under the $5000 mentioned above. Jeff has worked for us twice prior to this project. When we purchased our home, we were still traveling back and forth to Florida from Michigan. In 2008,we hired Jeff to be the general contractor on a 5 car garage and workshop addition which would be attached to our home. He worked closely with our architect, and Jeff and his staff performed the construction, and supervised subcontractors on the project, on time and on budget. This work was done while we were in Michigan. He kept us up to date on the project with emails and photos of the work. He also worked with our neighbors to assure that they were not inconvenienced by the construction. Jeff's work passed every city inspection the first time on each and every phase of the project. Our neighbors remarked at how punctual he and the contractors arrived, and how clean the job site was maintained daily. Earlier this year, Jeff remodeled the existing attached 2 car garage on our home. This involved removing all the drywall including the ceiling, adding insulation, rerouting plumbing, adding lighting, relocating washer and dryer. As with the prior project, Jeff managed his work, and that of the subcontractors involved to give us a bright, quiet garage space with laundry that we can now use more often.
