Response from D & R Electrical Svc
[Member name removed], Estimates are indeed free. There are no hidden costs or fees. If you are needing something installed, relocated, added, removed, replaced, etc. large job or small, the estimate is free of any charges. I think where the confusion comes in is when folks have something that is not working and are in need of an estimate to repair. If troubleshooting is required to figure out what is wrong and what the correct repair should be that is a chargeable service. Because we cannot know what trouble we will find, or where the trouble lies until we troubleshoot and determine what is wrong, we state our troubleshooting rates to our customers over the phone. Many companies charge a service call fee to simply show up and talk to the customer. We do not any service calls, trip charges, service fees or anything of the kind. We charge for work performed. We do, as does every other electrical company consider troubleshooting, taking apart equipment, testing circuits and spending time, labor, expertise to find out what is wrong, performing work. Once the problem is identified, we are happy to provide the customer with a total price for repairs. It is not our intension nor policy to surprise anyone with charges, hide charges, mislead costs in any way. Troubleshooting rates are given over the phone before we dispatch any electricians.
