Hired Clear Choice in Ft Myers to replace all my Windows and Slider to my 40 year old Condo. I have to say from the minute I met the owner I was very impressed and very comfortable doing business with them. Three years later I had a problem and I called Stacey at their office and they sent someone down the next day. I highly recommend using this company. Dean C Ft Myers Fl

Over-promised, under-delivered. Communication & customer service poor. Crew rushed through job leaving 2 windows with exposed screws preventing windows from opening which they fixed once we drew to their attention but they did not double check their work, were not on-time or reliable. Left job-site after 2.5 hours on first day without notice & left home unlocked. Stacey in the office was put-out each time I followed up to confirm status of install. Rude, unprofessional, just overall from top to bottom not responsive or professional. Attempted to share concerns but met with hostility. Would not utilize again or recommend.

The installers were unprofessional, unkept, smelled like cigarettes, urinated on the baseboard in the bathroom that I discovered when they left, they broke the front window when they were installing it; the caulk was splattered up on the window frames. We took down the plantation shutters, no one bothered to tell us that with the new windows, the plantation shutters had to be modified, and because of the molding they put up, we had to further modify it, they forced us to pay pay in full even with the broken glass, and it took 6 weeks to fix the glass. The guy who finally fixed the glass, Paul, was the only bright light with this whole experience- he was great; we contacted the owners by email and phone and they never replied.

Response from Clear Choice USA of SW Florida
I was just informed of this complaint, and as in every situation there are 3 sides to every story, each individual side, and somewhere in the middle. First and foremost, all our installers are professionally trained and have a "master window installer and re-glazing" certificate from PGT Windows. The simple fact is our business is in construction, and our market is southwest Florida. We receive many inquiries from installers throughout our area and it's extremely difficult to find personnel with the skill level to perform the work, as well as people that we feel confident that can be trusted to go into a consumer's home. We are doing "construction", it's inherently a sweaty and dirty job, in a home that someone lives in, it isn't "new" construction in its raw stage. The lead installer on this job was born and raised right here in Fort Myers. He's a good, honest man, who is a hard working "blue collar" worker in the construction trades. I myself do not smoke, in fact I abhor it, it killed my father at 59 years old. However, we do not discriminate, nor do we look down on anyone due to their occupation. There are many people in the "trades" that do unfortunately smoke, therefore it's their choice and I don't judge them for it. Our installers are good, honest, and hardworking people that work in an extremely difficult climate, It's VERY HOT in southwest Florida, and they perform a job that "most" people would not be willing to do, and many people look down on them for that. As for the comment about "urinating on the baseboards", I don't really have words for that other than the fact that yes, it's hot in Florida, the installers drink a lot of fluids to stay hydrated during the work day, and I'm sure from time to time they may ask to use a customer's bathroom. In no way do I believe they purposely did this, I can only imagine that during the physical action of going to the bathroom there may have been some splattering from the toilet. I will refrain from any further comment on this. I will not name the crew that was on this job since I care about them and their feelings. However, they do get several wonderful comments, in fact just this week I was in a repeat customers house that requested this crew. As the owner, I know their wives, I know their children, I buy their families turkeys for Thanksgiving, and give them and their families a wonderful Christmas party annually, these people have families they feed and homes they support, and I care deeply about each one of our team members. They do not have the luxury of wearing a suit and tie, slacks, dresses, etc. to work and nor do they work in a climate controlled air-conditioned environment. Regarding the windows themselves, it's extremely difficult to explain Florida windows and Florida construction to people in our market. First and foremost, since the majority of construction in our market is concrete block, our window sizes are very standard due to the size of concrete block. Unfortunately, in this home, the section the customer is referring to is "wood bay" construction, however the windows used in the original construction were "concrete block" size windows, therefore they must be replaced with the same size. During the original construction of the home, there was no drywall, stucco, or siding on the home, windows are put in during new construction in the homes rawest form. In replacement windows, that process is backwards, but as mentioned before, the size we must use is the same as the original, therefore it's not uncommon that the replacement windows will be extremely tight going in. Everyone in the window business understands this, as well as the manufacturers, not to mention we are in the "glass" business and glass is fragile, and it WILL break. We understand this, and every customer is informed this at the point of sale. We must pay for the products upon receiving, just as you would pay for any product you purchase in a store, we also must pay the building department, and we must pay our installers. Every customer acknowledges with their initials on their contract that "final payment must be paid upon installation. Warranty items (i.e. broken glass, balancers, etc.) does not preclude final payment". This process was followed in this transaction as it is in all transactions. We simply process the warranty items in accordance with the manufacturers policies and procedures, and perform the warranty work once we receive the parts from the manufacturer. Regarding the plantation shutters, over the years, due to factors out of our control, as well as every other window company, the code changes have required our products to be larger framing than what the original construction was. Again this portion of the home was wood construction therefor the wall depth is not as deep as block construction. We DO NOT know in any of these situations in wood construction walls if existing plantation shutters or blinds will work with the NEW Florida Code Approved products. We do not set the codes, but we do have to follow them. Finally, as the owner of Clear Choice, this was addressed by the co-owner of Clear Choice, my wife. She is the one who addressed the warranty issues and sent our Production Manager out to fix the issues. In business, it will never be a perfect world, even though we strive to be perfect. I formally owned a company with over 500 hundred employees with over 170 dealerships in over 40 countries. I completely understand that we don't live in a perfect world, but there is no problem too great that can't be solved. I can only apologize to this customer feeling like their experience was unpleasant. I have the utmost confidence in all our team members, I care about them and their families, just as I care about my family. I've raised my children here in our community and we care deeply about it. We just try to do the best we can daily and we have good, hardworking, honest people that are doing a hard and dirty job in a hot and miserable climate. I'm thankful for them and the job that they do.

Clear Choice was good to work with on this project. They worked around my schedule and situation for the installation. There was a quality problem with the sliding glass doors and they were quick to repspond to my call and started the replacement process quickly. However, they said it would take 4-6 weeks for the new doors it's now been about 8 weeks and I'm waiting to hear that the doors have been delivered so we can scheule a time to install them. I don't think it's Clear Choice's problem, but it is frustrating. We ordered Andersen windows thinking it was a good name and have been disappointed with the problem we've had.

Clear Choice Windows came back and found some leaks and bad installation spots and fixed them. So after the first time my windows leaked they came out and denied that they were leaking and said they would pay me 1000.00 dollars and pay for the water damage that they created. I sent them the invoice for my water damage and they have not responded or gave me a check for the 2 grand of remediation and water damage. The invoice was sent to them on the 27th by email. It took them 3 weeks to fix their crappy install. So Clear Choice I am waiting for your response, You have a few days then i am posting on angies list and then BBB. I am waiting on my 3 grand you owe me and promised me!

Response from Clear Choice USA of SW Florida
As in all situations, there is more to this particular job than is being presented by the customer. The facts that are being omitted by the customer are that this home has had a water problem long before the customer ever made contact with our company. The customer has dealt with a water leak for quite some time and no one has been able to accurately pin point where the leaks are coming from. As in all water leaks, it is extremely difficult to locate where water leaks come from. Water will always follow the path of least resistance and typically show up where the open hole is, the windows. This more often than not does not mean the window is leaking, it's just showing up in the open hole in the house. In exhausting many remedies to cure the water leaks, the customer entered into a contract with our company for window replacements January 13, 2015. The job was completed and inspected by the city of Cape Coral on March 23, 2015. There's one window that has manufacturer issues and has already been re-ordered and will be replaced at no charge from the manufacturer. After installation, on Saturday March 28, 2015 our installation manager was notified after a heavy rainstorm that the home was still having water issues similar to what the home has always experienced. That morning our installation manager immediately went to the residence to inspect the job. However, a proper inspection was not possible due to the fact that the customer had already pulled the window trim off some of the windows disturbing the installation. The installation manager tried to inform the customer that in order to locate his problem the recommended procedure from the manufacturer is to perform a water test., and now this was not possible due to the fact that he had altered the installation by removing the trim. Our installation manager contacted myself, the owner of Clear Choice windows to advise me of the situation and suggested that I make a site visit to speak with the customer. Our installation manager informed me that he was not able to have a reasonable conversation due the customers frustrated state with his continued issues with water leaking that again was the same as prior to our contractual relations. Our office manager, the original salesman, and I made a site visit that Saturday afternoon. During the course of that visit we listened to the customers concerns and attempted to explain in our professional experience that virtually 100% of the time if someone notices water at or around a window opening then it's probably coming from somewhere else. We also informed the customer that the only way to determine if the window is leaking is to perform a water test, but again, the customer had disturbed the installation. We did acknowledge that the installation crew assigned to this job had some items that needed to be corrected. The customer also expressed a displeasure with the extender trim used that is designed to trim the window off to the stucco. We agreed to have our stucco repairman redo the stucco returns on the windows that used the extender trim. In attempting to explain windows, the engineering, and the installation, I made a statement trying to get my point across "that windows don't leak, they are designed to repel water", I said, "I was so confident that they do not leak, that once the stucco returns were redone that I would give him $1,000 if that fixed the leak, but if they did leak, then he would give me $1,000". The customer angrily fired back "don't tell me what I'm going do". Our representatives, including myself, were stunned by his angry response when we were just trying to get him to understand that we were there to help, and since he had the leak before the new windows that the leak was probably still present because it was never the windows in the first place. We just wanted to help eliminate possibilities. The stucco returns were redone on April 1. On April 17, our installation manager, a helper, and the salesman were at the residence to do a water test that was recorded and documented. Not only was the test conducted, they addressed some of the previously admitted installation issues, as well as painted all the new stucco returns and caulked areas at the companies expense (this is not part of the contractual relations). The customer has conveniently left out the things that the company has done to help him through this entire process. Finally, in a gesture of goodwill, with the knowledge that this home has always had a water leak issue long before engaging our company with window replacements, our company reimbursed the customer for his "H2O 911 Restoration" bill on April 29, 2015 in the amount of $1,997.17, check #4554. We understand that the customer is frustrated with the fact that he has a leak somewhere in his house and it seems that no one can actually locate the true source of the leak. So far all the consultants the customer has contacted have only speculated where the leaks might be coming from, and again, we can understand the frustration associated with this. However, our company vehemently disagrees with the customers slandering and character assassination of our company when we have always been there to address his concerns and try to assist him in locating his problem, not run from his problem that is on record and documented to exist prior to any association with Clear Choice USA of Southwest Florida. Let this response notify Angie's List and the customer, that we remain committed to all of our customers, and will always treat them with the quality, kindness, and respect that they deserve. However, let it also be known that we are demanding the slandering and character assassination to cease-and-desist immediately, otherwise it will be addressed accordingly from this point forward.

Owner (Rance) came to house on two separate occasions with different manufacturers windows for us to look at and price out. We chose Silverline by Anderson Model 9520 their top of the line vinyl replacement double-hung windows, low E, argon filled NON impact glass. We also ordered new hurricane shutters form a different company at the same time and both together were half what the new impact glass windows would've cost! Installers Roger, Kenny and Damon arrived at the appointed hour approx. three weeks after the windows were ordered. They were polite, professional and clean. Everything went as well as we hoped it would. No complaints at all. Would use again in the future without hesitation!

We needed to replace the windows in our home and obtained three bids all using PGT SH500 Vinyl LoE & Argon single hung windows. We found Clear Choice in an add in the monthly Angie's List booklet and requested a bid. Rance Fulks, President of Clear Choice, came and listened carefully to us and sent us a bid which we found very unusual. The bid included everything! The PGT purchase invoices, engineering cost, county permit cost, installation cost, overhead, and profit were all disclosed. None of the other bids included the actual purchase invoices of the windows needed to complete the work! The installation was completed on time as agreed and done in a very professional manner. We were amazed that it only took one man to do the installation and that it was done without any flaws especially since none of the openings were perfect. Our home was a model home for the builder and has seven window openings three required picture size windows, two required normal windows side by side, and one had a half circle window at the top of a picture window with two smaller windows on the sides. Every contact we had with them was professionally handled and every commitment was lived up to! We think it would be a big mistake not to give them an opportunity to bid your project!

Response from Clear Choice USA of SW Florida
Although no work was ever performed for this potential customer, Clear Choice USA of SWFL does accept responsibility for not communicating our position with the potential customer. An example of the project that this potential consumer was interested pursuing had been done on a previous condo in their unit with NON hurricane impact products. Clear Choice USA of SWFL is not in the position of knowing when or who did the other project, however as a State Licensed Contractor in the State of Florida we chose not to pursue this project as it was presented to us due to the fact that it would not meet the requirements of Florida Building Code. As a family owned company with roots in our community, Clear Choice USA of SWFL has and always will be committed to providing outstanding quality, products, and service to the residents of Southwest Florida. We are extremely proud of our A rating with Angie's List, as well as our A rating with the Better Business Bureau, and our recent selection as the #1 rated Hurricane/Impact Window Company in the Fort Myers News Press "Best of Everything". As always, all estimates are FREE of charge to potential customers and there will never be "any pressure", GUARANTEED.

.He was very nice and very knowledgable. He really knew his business. He was the owner that came out. He really gave me a great estimate compared to others. The quote was for 4 double paned windows. They would be taking the old windows out put in the new ones and take all the rest away. We are seriously considering them for the work. He was here when he said he would be here. He had a nice clean sample kit with examples of work he has done in the past. He also had his license and he was very neat and clean.

This company installed windows in half of our condo 2 years ago. We were so pleased with every aspect of the job that we hired them to do the remainder or our windows this month. The window quality is great, and the price was the best we could find. Both times, the company ordered the windows in a timely fashion, and called to schedule installation as soon as the windows had arrived. The installer arrived when he said he would, did an excellent job installing the windows, and completely cleaned up and took away all old windows and all messes made during installation. The company insisted that we let them know if anything needed adjusting on the windows, and came out promptly to fix the one window that seemed slightly difficult to open (this occurred on the 1st installation, and we've had no problems with this 2nd set of windows.) We are extremely pleased with the work this company did.
