Dear Mr. [Member Name Removed], I am sorry you are unhappy with our service. We always try to work with all our customers. In your case, you have a Freon leak. We were out there four times in the past few months- adding Freon. Each time we came out, we told you that you need to locate and repair the leak. Each time you refused. All we could do was add Freon. There was a Freon shortage a while back due to some explosion at some Freon plant in China. This caused a temporary spike in prices at the wholesale level. We were forced to raise our prices along with everyone else. The prices have since stabilized, allowing us to drop our prices back to normal. At the time, our prices were higher than normal, but no higher than anyone else's. In our defense, each time we came out, we gave you a $35 discount coupon off your bill to help defray the costs. This coupon is reserved for new customers only-one per customer. But we gave it to you none the less. I can understand you giving us an "F" on pricing if someone else charged less than us. But I don't feel that your "F" on all the other categories was justified. We tried to work with you every chance we could. We have been in business for over 38 years and have always maintained an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. Terrible; Incompetent; Unprofessional
Description of Work: My AC unit was replaced two years ago with a Rheem unit installed by CENTRAL AIRE. It has Never worked properly since installation and I have had them come out approximately 20 times since installation and my house is still ~83-84 degrees every afternoon. Unit can't keep up at all. A few months ago they said I needed a new coil and a UV light so the labor cost for that was $750, which made no difference at all. One month ago they came out and took a bunch of measurements and readings and sent the info to Rheem to see if they can figure out the problem. Despite numerous messages to Central Aire they Never called me back. I finally got through to talk to the owner Pete and he told me the problem was likely my duct work is too small but they still haven't heard from Rheem so I just have to wait. My house is HOT!!! I finally called another company- AIRMARK - for another opinion. Their technician said that parts of my duct work is too small and there is not enough airflow. They were supposed to call me back later in the day with an estimate. I called several times for the estimate and was finally told ( two weeks later!) the technician lost the paperwork! So I emailed a copy of paperwork and still no response with an estimate. I left about 4-5 more messages and sent an email, No Response! Finally I got a "receptionist" on the phone and she said "Let me see if the estimate is ready"!! I asked if they received my 4-5 messages and email and she said "Oh you're the one who needs ductwork, well we don't do duct work in the summer"!! No communication, no courtesy!! Just left me hanging:( I would not recommend these AC Companies - CENTRAL AIRE or AIRMARK or a RHEEM unit to anyone!!! One company - Central Aire (who installed the unit) can't even figure out the problem, and another company - Airmark - can't even figure out an estimate!! I am looking for an Honest, Competent Company to help!!”

To Whom It May Concern: I am the owner of Central Aire. I would like to respond to Mrs. [Member Name Removed] complaint. We replaced her air conditioning system in 2015. She had a number of problems that led up to that decision. The last one being that it was leaking thru her ceiling causing drywall damage. She had a 2.5 ton system for 1,290 or so sq ft. We replaced her system with a 2.5 ton Rheem. She did have a number of service calls after the system was replaced. We responded to every one of them. Several of the calls were for dirty coils. (For the record, she has a house full of dogs and cats and animals in tanks warmed by heat lamps). Several calls were for clogged drains. Most were for the system not keeping up in the heat of the day. We followed proper protocol when it involved the system not keeping up. We added Renu to free up the TXV. We replaced the TXV. We replaced the evaporator coil on the chance it was the problem. We increased the size of her return duct and rebuilt her supply plenum. We advised her to turn off the heat lamps. Unfortunately, none of these corrections seemed to have helped. We have been to her home a number of times over the last two years for issues related to her system not cooling in the afternoon. Each time she called, we responded timely. WE NEVER CHARGED HER for most of those calls. The only call we charged her for was when we replaced her evaporator coil and added a UV light system. We replaced the coil because it was impacted with animal hair and since we wanted to address the no cool problem at the same time, it only made sense to replace the coil and TXV since we had to pull it anyways to clean it. The $750 we charged her was really for the UV light system which she requested. We have since called Rheem for more answers. Their tech support team has evaluated her system based on a lengthy field report we filled out for them. Their conclusion is that her duct system is too small to handle the R410-A based system. It was OK for the R-22 system, but R410-A reacts differently and needs better airflow to work properly. The repair will involve enlarging some of her ducts coming off the plenum and increasing the size of her return grill. We have tried to contact her several times in the last week regarding this. We do not feel that Mrs. [Member Name Removed] complaint was justified. We have never ignored her complaints or her requests for service and have been continually trying to solve the problem. We have been in business for 37 years and stand on our excellent reputation. We will continue to try to contact her and hopefully will resolve this soon. Respectfully, Peter J. Description of Work: We had our rental property AC unit stop working and were having renters checking in at 4:00. I called the office to get some help with trouble shooting the problem. Patrick walked me through a few things to try. The last one worked and the AC came back on. Thank you for the excellent customer service and professionalism. On Friday 2/22/2013 I noticed that my air conditioning wasn't working. I called Central Aire and they said that they would send someone out. Shortly after, I noticed that the air conditioning was running, so I cancelled the appointment. Later that night, I realized that the air conditioning was actually not working. Not wanting to incur overtime charges, I decided to wait until Monday to call them. Juan arrived at about 10:00 am to check things out. I assumed that it would be something simple such as the float being stuck. It was not to be simple at all. The fan switch in the attic was no longer working but because the temperature was never reached the compressor ran all weekend and caused the rest of the parts in the air conditioner to burn out, resulting in replacing most of the parts or putting in a new unit. Central Aire gave me a price of $5,381 for a 4 ton Rheem 16 SEER air conditioner installed. I didn't think that the price was that good but because their service has been so good over the last couple of years, I decided to go with them. Louis and Brandon from Central Aire arrived on Tuesday morning 2/26/2013 to install my new air conditioner. They were both very courteous and considerate and cleaned up after themselves. It took most of the day but it was up and running by about 4:00 pm. I will continue to use Central Aire as I find all of their personnel to be courteous and efficient.

They provided information on different A/C units so we could make the proper decision of what would suit our needs. We put in a dual system unit. There were some glitches, but they kept in touch as worked progressed. They scheduled the inspector -- who arrived at the appointed date/time. I was impressed with the time Pete and Rick took to answer all my questions and concerns! I know that at times when I called they must have been busy doing other things, but I felt that 100% of their attention was with me the whole time we were on the phone. I really appreciated that and that's what made me go with Central Aire even though I had lower quotes from other companies! The quality of their work is great and I can't say enough good things about this company. If you're in need of A/C work, I wouldn't hesitate in recommending that you call Central Aire ASAP! I know I will call them if I have any kind of problem. I'm also using them for a yearly maintenance plan.

I'm not necessarily pleased with them. They have to come 2-3 times to fix something, because they don't get it right the first time. Sometimes, it will take them 8 weeks to get back out, we have to call, and check on the parts, ourselves. They put our unit in and that was fine, but, the maintenance is not good, I don't know if it's because the other people there are ordering the right parts. However, my friend used them, and is having the same problem. The service tech was personable, nice, knowledgeable, the price was average, but, the rest of his office orders parts, does maintenance, and they are not getting it right. I give them low ratings and will not use them in the future.

They didn't charge me anything so far. They are trying to figure what the problem is, so as far as I know there is no charge until they fully determine the problem. I would recommend them. I have a contract with them. The price is reasonable.
