The damage to the wires in the wall was done by prior workers. The repair guy told me that I needed a new dimmer switch. He was driving around hunting for a new switch for so long that I missed a meeting. He fixed the original lighting problem, but it turns out that the dimmer was fine (I insisted that he give me the old dimmer and my son-in-law tested it and it works fine). He charged me for 2 1/2 hours of time, saying that he wouldn't charge me for all of the time that he spent searching for the dimmer switch. He put a crack in the wall by the plate. I understand that accidents happen, but it was still disappointing. I joined Angie's List to avoid this kind of experience in the future.
Description of Work: After a kitchen remodel, the lights in the ceiling were not working right, and then wouldn't come on at all.
