Awful - I contacted Nugent Appraisal LLC to acquire an appraisal on a piece of art that I purchased at a garage sale. When I called them, I spoke directly with Ray Nugent and explained this to him. He advised me that his fee was $295. I agreed to this price and gave authorization to move forward. His daughter came to my house and took pictures with her cell phone. I was delighted when I received his appraisal several days later stating the “fair market value was $35000.00”. He stated in the email that he sent me if I was interested in selling the piece that he would be able to assist. I immediately advised him that I was interested in selling the piece. After several days, he contacted me to advise me that there was some interest in the piece but due to how this picture was obtained (he knew from the original conversation that I gt it a garage sale) and that he would like to come to my home to examine it again. He stated that the picture needs to be taken out of the frame. I proceeded to take the picture out of the frame. When he came to my house it took him less than five minutes to announce that it was a poster and had no value what so ever. I asked for a refund of my $295.00 to which he declined stating that he went out of his way to come to my house again to examine it. My issues is that I feel that there was no “due diligence done what so ever”. If he had told me in the beginning to take it out of the frame, we would have proceeded to do it and the issue would have died there. BUT oh no – he came up with a “fair market value of $35000.00” He is the professional, so what was his original $35000.00 appraisal based on? Needless to say, after that he sent me a revised one stating the fair market value was $150.00 – BIG DIFFERENCE – My question to you – is he qualified to appraise your work? Obviously he wasn’t with mine. I am now pursue my refund through the Broward County Court System.

He didn't return a good portion of the items that he'd looked at. While he was appraising it, he lost my items while inside the bank vault.
Description of Work: I asked him to appraise my belongings in a vault in the bank.

He claims to be a large company. He has post office boxes in many different cities. The appraisal wasn't done. He wanted to bill me even though the work wasn't done. He refused to give me my watches back until I paid him $8000. After I contacted my attorney, he gave the items back to my attorney but he didn't include an inventory list documenting what was missing. I also believe he may have stolen many of my items. I called him multiple times to get my items back but he refused. He also billed me for services for a coin expert when he doesn't have that knowledge. Everytime I asked for the value of my stuff, he would always tell me he would have to get back to me. He couldn't answer basic questions about the value of my items. He was insistent about taking my belongings to his house to evaluate them. He kept pressuring me to take the belongings over to his house. Because some of the items hadn't been recorded for an inventory, I'm not sure what is missing. I called multiple times to try to work out an agreement, but he refuses to to return my items. I warn other consumers about his nature.
Description of Work: I called them for an appraisal for coins.
