M & J Lawn Services Inc - Jose Gamboa

I met the provider at a friend's house where he was doing a job. We talked about sealing our driveway and patio. Jose said he would do the job, especially since everything had just been pressure cleaned. He stopped by to discuss the job on 8/7/13 and wanted $350.00 to do it. He requested and received $250.00 to get the sealant. He cashed the check the next day. Anytime after that he postponed the work because of rain (when it never rained except for once). Three weeks after he never called I texted him to refund my money. He said he would do the job the next day or the day after. Again, he never showed or called. It never rained on the days he promised to show up. It is now too late to seal the pavers as they would have to be cleaned again. Several calls and text messages later he agreed to return the money. He does not take our calls or answer our texts. This has been going on for over three months. J ose Gamboa stole our money. This guy is a common thief.

Hired him to take care of lawn cutting and maintenance. He was providing services to previous homeowner and neighbors and seemed good to talk to, so decided to hire him. On his first visit he also suggested that the palm trees in my yard has white flies infestation and needs treatment right away. I agreed to let him take care of it. He took $125 the same day to get started on the work next day and get material. Since then he never came to do the actual work on white flies treatment or fertilization. After calling him couple days later, he said he will do it next day. That next day never came. Same conversation took place over phone couple times during the following week. 2 weeks from payment when it was time to do regular lawn cutting. When I called he said he will do everything (cutting, root treatment, fertilization) same day. Showed up but just cut the lawn and did some spraying and went away. I called at 4 pm asking why he did not do rest of the work, his reply "he is still working in the area, day is not over, he will do it before end of the day". At 6 pm I saw him driving in the area, stopped him and asked whether he is going to my place to finish the work. His reply - "its going to rain so I will do it first thing tomorrow ". I waited till the end of the next day, he never showed up, did not pick my phone. I decided to fire him and hire another service provider. When I called next day to tell him that, he spoke unprofessionally. Never said sorry during any of the conversation. Asked him to return the rest of the money after deducting the charges for two grass cuttings and spraying. He hung up the phone and has not yet returned the money. Still waiting.
