Description of Work: Promised me he could fix leaky toilet and had part on his truck.Then told me it was the wrong part. spent 2 hours on the phone and my computer trying to locate part.Charged me at his hourly rate for this time. Never found the part but told me the toilet wasn't worth fixing so he threw it in the shower, left wet towels in my sink charged me full price for nothing and left. Disaster !

I was called out to house to fix toilet. Looked at the part that was currently in toilet and had that part on my truck. Took apart toilet and changed the tank to bowl gasket. After replacing the gasket the toilet still leaked. Customer then told me someone had tried to fix toilet previously. They put the wrong parts in the toilet and then used lots of silicone to stop it from leaking. This is not the proper way to fix the problem.. I then got the part number off toilet tank and called several local plumbing supply houses to see if they had the parts. They said they didn't have them. I then called the manufacturer and they didn't have these parts in stock anymore. All of this research took time. I then Informed the customer that I couldn't find replacement parts and the toilet needed to be replaced. She then informed me that the bathroom was not used very often and that she didn't want to spend the money to change out the toilet. I do my very best to fix everyone's plumbing problems but sometimes the old fixtures can't be fixed and need to be replaced. I take pride in my work and do not appreciate it when because a customer doesn't get the results she wants she can just trash me and my companies reputation!! I asked her what she wanted me to do with the wet towels and the toilet tank and she said to leave them in the bathroom. I then set them in the shower stall so they were out of the way and not dripping on the floor. I also don't understand that a customer thinks I shouldn't be paid for my time when trying to locate the proper parts needed to fix their old toilet. When hired to do a job I always tell my customer my hourly rate so they do not have any surprises!!
