My initial interaction was positive so I was surprised that everything went down hill. The pick-up should have been easy as it was all from a storage unit. I was moving from Maryland to western NC. They had explained they needed to pick up on a certain date when they were in the area, though it was a month before I would be in NC. The mover then told me the delivery would be within the next 2-3 days. From the beginning I had told them I could not have the delivery until the end of May (this was late April) that no one would be at my home in NC. After talking with the main office, I was assured they would not deliver until the weekend of May 26th. I flew to NC to meet the truck. I was only there for the weekend before needing to return to the DC area. I started calling the movers who then told me they could not state specifically when the truck would actually arrive! I wasted the whole weekend waiting. That Sunday, the 28th, they told me it would be early the following week! I arranged for someone to meet the truck. I left the name and phone number of the person with the driver and with the main office-on my way to the airport that Sunday I was called to say they were almost at the house! I flew to NC to meet the truck. They finally called and said they could not get there until the following Monday (after I would be back in MD!) I arranged for someone to meet the truck on Monday. I gave them the name and phone number of who to call when they got to the house. On my way to the airport, on Sunday, the driver called me to say he was at the house! Over the weekend, I had numerous calls with the office and would ALWAYS need to leave a VM and wait sometimes 24 hours for a return call. When I return a week later, one box was not delivered and one wrong box was left with my stuff. I called to see if it should be UPS'd to the owner and was told to leave the box outside my home. Good Team Movers would be by to pick up and leave my box. A month later, a friend went by the house and the box was still sitting there! I had frequent calls and e-mails that were left unanswered over the next couple of months. In August, Mike from the main office called to see if I could UPS the box to the owner! I expalined I was not there and that I was still waiting for my box. I also noted that I had made that suggestion in May! He then said he would pay $50.00 plus the shipping cost. A friend did this for good team movers. As of today, 9/27, she has not been reimbursed. My "box" was delivered on 9/26 and it was NOT my box. I have e-ailed him to have the box picked up and my box delivered. I have heard nothing. I would not use them again and hope that one day I have my last box!

I chose them mainly because they claim to use smaller truck that could get into my house in where I move from. My experience was bad. They promised to move me on a certain date and then they called me up and said that they had conflicts and they couldn't come. They finally showed up late that night and did some packing and then they were supposed to come back the following morning to clear things out, which is a day late and they didn't come on the time that they said the would, but few hours late and then everything went okay after that. On the delivery they broke one of my handmade Chinese chair. They charge by square feet instead of pounds like other carriers. You send them an inventory and then they come up with an estimate and estimate was about two-thirds of what was actually turned out to be. I wasn't really too happy with that either. I would not use them again.

The movers called the day before the move to confirm and Said they would like to get started as soon as possible and I agreed. The day of the move the movers called at 9:00 am and said they would be there at 11:30 am. They arrived at that time and I noted that the moving truck was a rented budget rental and it was 3/4 full already with someone else's household goods. The mover explained that they had two other moves before mine and that my goods would fit. He showed me an inventory list that was way less than what I had discussed with Sean. I told them I had more items that were on the list and my goods would not fit on that truck. He told me to call the office and speak with Sean which I did but he was not there yet. The movers proceeded to start preparing my goods while I tried to contact Sean. He finally answered and immediately asked to speak with the driver who told him that all my belongings would not fit. He handed the phone back to me and someone named Mike was on the line who informed me that they were trying to fine someone in the area that could move my belongings and that the movers that were there could take what was on the inventory list they had and someone else would come on the 19th would come and get the rest of the items. Itold them this was not possible as I was planning to leave the next morning and my new job started around the 19th. Mike ask to speak with the driver, who then told me that they could load portions of my belongings and take them to a storage facility until they found an available truck and then deliver them to me at a later date, but it would now cost $4100. I told him I could not afford this jump in price and I would have to cancel the move. Mike called me back and said because I was canceling he would have to charge a $500 cancellation fee since it was obvious I underestimated my goods. A cancellation fee was not written in the contract and I told him so. He said they would charge my credit card anyway. I told him I no longer would like to speak with him and that I thought it was very suspicious that Sean would not come to the phone to discuss the issues of inventory. Sean then came on the line and apologized and said they would keep the $350 deposit and not charge me $500 for canceling. I rented a truck and my neighbor and friends ended up helping me move to Florida.
Description of Work: I planned to relocate to Coral Springs, Fl from Sc In June and after searching for apartments, I did a search for moving companies. I received a call fron Sean at Good Team Movers. He told me it was a mom and pop business so they took great care in making sure their customers were satisfied. He gave me an example how they helped a person going through a foreclosure and how they spent great time and care even though this person was down on his luck. We spent approximately 45mins to an hour on the phone as we went through inventory. I told him it was a two bedroom apartment and he estimated the cost at aprox $1600 dollars. He told me I could call him anytime and even encouraged me to come by their office when I was in town. This was in March. After speaking with several moving companies, I decided to use good team movers as it seemed a good price and Sean seemed to be an honest and sincere person. I called Sean in April and paid the $350 security deposit for the move. He asked which date would I like the movers to arrive and I told him June 11th. At that time I told him there were a couple of items that I was not longer moving and told him of a few other items that were not on the inventory list. Sean said that was fine and he would revise the list.

Overall, the move was good. The estimate was written. The movers arrived on time and with sufficient help to complete the move. There was a disconnect on the understanding regarding packing a TV that took some time to resolve and is the basis for lower ratings than otherwise would have been given. The move estimate was overstated in terms of the number of boxes. The price to pack a TV seemed high. After many phone calls with slow/no response, the issue was finally settled in a mutually agreeable way.

We wouldn't use them again. They could have done everything better. They didn't pack the stuff up very well and several things got damaged. They did move the piano okay but a lot of other stuff got damaged. Our glasses made it but glass doors on stuff got damaged. They wrapped stuff in paper that should have been wrapped in bubble wrap and blankets and vice versa. They were backwards about everything. They were better at responding that doing their service.
Description of Work: We used Good Team Movers for moving us from Fort Lauderdale to North Carolina. They packed and moved us. They also moved our piano.
