I had used GM Van lines a few weeks ago during my last move and am so happy with the level of professionalism and service provided to me. Everyone was so careful and communicative during the whole process. Would 100% recommend to anyone and will for sure be using again next time we decide to move.

I sold my place and I needed a company to help me with the move, I was able to book the movers right of way, they came the next day, helped me pack and wrapped my furniture so carefully, worked non stop, fast and very respectful to me and my belongings. This company was fantastic! From the beginning their communication was excellent. It was important to me to be reassured about every step of the process and I was always able to reach them. I just recently used the moving service by GM VAN LINES for long-distance moving. I am now very clear how these moving companies works. 1. Give you a quote based on a smaller volume. For example, you might have 1000 cubic feet. They will quote for 400 cubic fee at cheap price (~ 2500$). You might get different quotes from different moving companies, comparing the unit price ($/cft). You will need to pay 20%-30% deposite of your quote. It is not refundable if it is less than 3 days before the moving date. 2. When drivers (two) arrive, the drivers will re-estimate your cubic feet and give you a new price. In my case, the requote was $6000 ~ $7000 for 1100-1300 cft. This estimate is much close to the real volume. At this time, you are asked to sign to accept the new quote. If you think it is too much and want to get refunded, you will be told the deposite cannot be refunded. The final price will be offered once everything is loaded on the truck. It is easy to calculate the volume of based on the truck dimensions. And you need to pay half of the price of the total cost subtracted by the deposit. Don' t believe in the sales person's (Howard) words! He will tell you in the phone GM VAN LINES has its own trucks and has cheaper price. From what I know, their trucks were just for advertisment showing that they have trucks. They use contractors for the moving. First, two drivers come to pick up and pack your stuff. Then they unload the boxes in a warehouse. Another contractor will pick up the boxes and deliver to your destination in 2-3 weeks. Remember this, have a good idea of your volume! The sales person will delibrately quote you for small volume even though you send him videos showing your bedroom. The sales person just cheat you to accept the quote. If you regret when the driver provides the new quote, they will take your deposit away.

I would rate zero stars if I could. I contacted GM Van Lines in late August. I spoke to a man named Howard who told me that in order to hold the reservation at the price quoted, I needed to pay a deposit of nearly $700. No other company I spoke to asked for a deposit up front like Howard did; but he assured me that if I decided to cancel, the refund would be posted immediately. After I spoke to several other companies over the next week or so, I chose to go a different route and called GM Van Lines to cancel my reservation. Howard was very upset, but after much arguing he finally said he would process the refund and it would take 10 business days to post. After waiting for over 15 business days, I called the company and spoke to Trisha who informed me that the job had never been cancelled and I was still scheduled for pickup on the specified date. Not only that, but if I were seeking a refund, it should have been posted immediately and not 10 days later like Howard had said. She contacted her boss, Oded, who posted the refund the very next day (now late September). At that point, I thought the ordeal was over. The refund sat as a pending transaction on my credit card account for 4 or so business days before mysteriously disappearing. I called my credit card company who told me that when a transaction disappears like that it usually means that it was cancelled by the issuing company. I called GM Van Lines and spoke to Trisha again who called Oded and called me back to say that he said that the problem was not on their end. So now I am left to sit here wondering where the transaction went. Dealing with this company has been a nightmare. Howard was pushy, disrespectful, deceitful, and patronizing in my dealings with him; and he was especially disrespectful and angry during my first attempt to cancel the deposit. Trisha and Oded seemed upstanding at first, but the fact that I am still dealing with this debacle means that they are either lying to me or ineffectual at their own company against Howard. AVOID DEALING WITH THIS COMPANY. SAVE YOURSELF FROM A MAJOR HEADACHE.

The worse company I have dealt with for an out-of-state moving, they tell you one thing and then they do another. I took the time to create an inventory with pictures, description and measurements so there will be no surprise and viola the movers didn’t have that inventory they had one from 1 MONTH before when we first started the process which magically was an extra charge of $1.5k after I even added extra boxes I actually didn’t have but just in case, they refused to take a toddler trampoline and swing set even though they were on the inventory so here is another lose for me of over $400 since they were less than 6 months old. We had purchased furniture that was left on boxes so they will take less space & was told that the movers will put together and they didn’t, they forgot an entire room at the end of the moved and blamed it on us which is a COMPLETE LIE they forgot because we even left the light-on on purpose, so when they went ahead to take the stuff from the room they were tired already so they didn’t take the furniture apart and it took more space than expected as well as they had the truck organized already & threw that entire room on the truck of course so they charged more. They said that I had 5 suitcases when I had 4 I even have pictures, 7 wardrove boxes and I only had 6; and they even have the guts to tell you they work for TIPS and they trash talk they coworkers, so unprofessional. STAY AWAY FROM TRISH, DAVID (VERY DISRESPECTFUL MANAGER & A HUGE LIAR) & PABLO BE VERY CAREFUL I WARNED YOU.

Disgusting business practices. Howard is a liar and I’m sure all their other sale representatives are as well. They aren’t actually a moving company and just contract out the work. The estimated price and the actual price was a 4x difference. Ridiculous and should be illegal. I didn’t even move a couch.

This is a horrible company. We asked them to drop off our stuff on 4/15 and they showed up on 4/14. When they arrived, they demanded the money from us BEFORE they unloaded the furniture. We were hesitant to give the money until they unloaded the furniture. They left and demanded an extra $1000 if we wanted them to return. We plan to take this to court.

Trish was so nice and I went with them based on that. She seemed thorough and agreed to the timeframe for the move. The packers are not packers. They shoved fragile items in with heavy things. Lampshades with heavy things not wrapped. They broke three plates and not sure what else yet as I’m still unpacking. I should have used Clover like I have in the past. They pack and unpack everything. I didn’t think to ask about unpacking. I just assumed they would do that as that’s what white glove service is. The movers were nice at times and rude when I questioned the bill at the end. It wasn’t what Trish estimated. She blamed the change in start time on their dispatch dept. Not my problem. They said my pack and move wouldn’t take as long as I said. I know my stuff and was right. Because they didn’t arrive until 12:30pm (supposed to be 9am) they didn’t get moved out until after 5pm. They arrived at my new building just before 6pm when the elevators and loading dock was closing. Luckily I got my building to stay open to let them move me in last night. They dropped it all and left. I heard them complaining about me in the garage. I would absolutely never, ever use them again under any circumstances. They moved something that wasn’t supposed to go and now I have to find another company to move it back to my old place in order to get my deposit back. I never write bad reviews, but I had to because this was an absolute nightmare experience. DON’T USE GM VAN LINES.

Based on the highest consumer ratings on sites like this, we hired GM Movers of Florida, based in Lauderdale Lakes, for our move from Orlando (Maitland) to Durham, N.C. The result was an unmitigated disaster from start to finish. They were a day late in arriving to our home, then determined that their truck was too small. Four hours later, they returned with a larger truck. Four days later, they began unloading at 4 p.m. and were there until after midnight. Many pieces of our furniture and goods were damaged in transit, and then the movers did further damage to our new home – gouged floors and walls, and a broken light fixture in the stairway. When we totaled and documented the damage it came to $12,000. When we filled out the damage forms and submitted it to GM claims department, we were offered $110. We were told that was the maximum amount they would pay, since we had neglected to purchase additional insurance, which we thought was unnecessary, given the high ratings the company had on consumer sites. Based on our experience, anyone considering using GM should think twice.

Horrible! I hired GM Van Lines to pack and move my entire house. They were extremely disorganized and careless. Furniture and television set were sloppily packed, so much so, that parts needed to put the furniture together were randomly placed in unmarked boxes. This has created the worst nightmare for me, The crew unloading the boxes insisted that the legs to my king size tempurpedic bed were randomly placed in one of the many wardrobe boxes they packed. The bed required the legs in order to be usable. I insisted that the bed legs had to be found, so the crew opened ALL the wardrobe boxes and started throwing my clothes on my bed, until my brother and I began hanging the clothes the crew was rapidly bringing into the closet and bedroom in bunches, almost too fast for the two of us to handle. My garage was left complete disarray. My entire house looked like a bomb exploded. I took pictures and sent them to the owner of the Company, Oded, and rather than coming himself to inspect the disaster left by his moving crew, Oded simple sent the same two guys responsible for the disastrous move. All those two did was breakdown the many empty boxes in the garage. When I complained to Oded, he offered no excuse but instead supported his crew's sloppy performance. DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY. THEY ARE HORRIBLE!!!!!

They were wonderful. The guy that I dealt with answered all my questions, followed up, and told me everything he's going to do. I had no complaints, they did a great job.

I really liked it. It's my second move with them. They were always true to their commitment and they were punctual.

They are horrible movers, and don’t even go near them. What they did for me is that they put stickers on, and every sticker has a number, and they usually put sticker on a regular size box, but they put stickers on tiny boxes as well, and I got totally overcharged by them. They cracked my piano without telling, and I saw the crack, and I asked him about it, and he lied to me, and he said he didn’t notice the crack. They picked me up in Brooklyn and I had warned them not to park on the street, but they said they have it all figured out, but the morning they came they had no idea where to park as it was two a lane street and narrow, and it took like an hour and a half for them to find a place to park. We only found a place to park as I happened to be park near fire hydrant, so when I moved my car and because I moved my car there was enough place for their truck. It was just a mess, and they also ended up parking in my neighbors drive way on a Sunday and she shouldn’t even get out and it was horrible. I cannot tell you how ripped off I feel by them and what a horrible experience it was. I would not use them again in the future.
