Response from First Call Movers
We provided a full refund to the member and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. Weeks in advance of the scheduled pick-up date, we diligently arranged for the transportation of his items by a reputable and responsible moving company. Unfortunately, on the scheduled pick-up date (Thursday, August 30) we received a call from the moving company informing us that their truck broke down on the way to pick up the member's items. The moving company was not sure when the truck would be repaired but it would not be that day. The moving company also informed us that they would contact him to explain the delay in picking up his items. Later that day, we received a call from him informing us that he had spoken with the moving company. According to the member, the moving company told him they could have the truck ready for pick-up on Saturday, September 1. The member told the moving company he could wait until Saturday. On Tuesday, September 4, we received a call from the member informing us that the moving company did not arrive as scheduled on Saturday therefore he wanted to cancel the move. We apologized to him and issued a full refund of his deposit. We contacted the moving company who explained they were unable to repair the truck as planned because the repair facility was not open over the Labor Day holiday weekend. The moving company told us the truck was now ready to pick-up his items, at which point we told them he had already cancelled the move and made different arrangements. We again sincerely apologize to the member for the delays and for the moving company’s failure to contact him and/or us regarding their inability to have the truck repaired over the Labor Day holiday weekend. Had we known, we would have immediately contacted him to make him aware. We are pleased to know he was able to make alternative arrangements. We strive to exceed the customer's expectations and continually aim to give our clients the highest level of service possible. We stand behind our work and take pride in operating in the most ethical manner. Of the thousands of moves booked by First Call Movers, consumer complaints account for less than 1% of the overall moves booked. We regret our standard for excellence was not met with respect to the member's move.
