I had used D&D a year and a half ago to replace several windows and doors, and was very happy with the experience. I had 2 more windows that needed "Dade County approved" protection to qualify for discounts on my outrageously priced homeowners insurance renewal. Although this was not a big job, they treated me like a million bucks. The price may look a bit high, but they had to remove old aluminum awnings and cut/chip off rock to provide a flat surface for the tracks. Both of my experiences with D&D have been excellent - it's so refreshing to find contractors that are reliable, professional and provide great service and quality, When I have the money to replace the rest of my windows with impacts, i will definitely be using them

Carlos arrived on time for the estimate. He was courteous and professional in explaining the options available and suggested I visit their showroom before making a choice; which I did. After reviewing the different manufactures I sat down with Carlos and finalized the contract. The installation was very professional and the attention to detail was superb. I see why D&D Aluminum has won the " super service award " six years in a row. I will recommend and use them again.

Carlos (from D&D) was punctual and professional. He helped me understand the products a little better and I had/have no problem with his company. They were just unable to make an appointment until I had been visited by the others that I had contacted and then took too many days to submit any estimates. Carlos was here on Tuesday and said they estimates would take "a couple days"?.I assumed that to mean Thursday. My wife and I were planning to make final decisions over the weekend so when Carlos emailed me that he would have the estimates by Monday I responded about our timing and that it might be too late. He got the most important part of the estimates to me that day (Friday) and we were able to consider them along with the others. In the end, D&D were simply too expensive (by about 10%) on a $40,000 job, and that was the deciding factor.

It went very well---I had to cancel due to a setback---- The service was great the price was right and was aware they have done other work in our complex------ There is no doubt that when I am able to have the work done they will be my choice. I would not look at another co. unless they did the job for nothing. They have many satisfied 0wners in this complex!
Description of Work: I would have used D and D but your recommendation of another co. appeared and told me the windows did not need replacing. They were in good shape and should be repaired. I opted to repair them and I saved $3000.00. Had I replaced them I would have used D and D. They were also highly recommended by unit owners in our complex. Highly recommended.

Excellent work as usual. We used D&D before to replace all our windows and doors. Next on the list was to make a screened in patio. D&D did it all. They got the permits, enlarged the patio, poured the concrete and custom built the enclosure. It is wonderful. The D&D team are so professional, friendly, and perfectionists. The building inspector also said that the work is always excellent when done by D&D. We will always recommend D&D for windows, doors, and patio work.

Jerry Hamburger came out and gave me a quote; it was very competitive and the quality he proposed met my needs. I waited 6 weeks for the door to be made and available. The installers worked in tandem with the roofers who needed to install new flashing. They removed the old doors and instaled the new ones with a minimum of fuss. After the installation two items needed to be attended to and they came within a week to fix it on the spot to my satisfaction. I would recommend this company as knowledgeable, professional and competitively priced.

We wanted to save our garage doors-twin doors. And rather than switch them with hurricane doors, they found a way to save the architectural doors (with approval) by cleverly bending the support system in the form of an arch and performed handsomely in doing so, which was very difficult. The problem solver was Carlos Marleno.

Their pricing wasn't enough competitive. In general, the guy was pretty good and pretty responsive. He had some inaccuracies in his quote that I had to get corrected, just, he gave wrong pricing and I was surprised at the pricing on some windows and then he realized he made a mistake and he switched his pricing a couple of times and couldn't explain why. And then at the end of the day, it was more expensive. In general, he was good, I mean. And he certainly wasn't as expensive as a lot of other providers, don't get me wrong. It's just that he was probably a little bit better than average price. He was pretty responsive, even emails, when he was supposed to show up, he was here.

Price was what they said it would be, and when I could not pay in lump sum, they let me pay in smaller monthly payments as a courtesy. Left them at home unsupervised when I was called to work and when I got back, the house was clean, the work was done and nothing was out of place. Very professional.

We received three estimates for accordion hurricane shuttlers, one from D&D. Carlos arrived exactly when expected, was professional, prepared and informed on his product. Was able to answer all questions and his price quote arrived by e-mail the next day. The price was the best quoted, but we chose to go with this company not by price alone --- the professionalism displayed was much of our decision. The final measurement was taken last week, and we expect installation within the month. Will update upon completion.

D&D Aluminum is a great company. Carey Tarplay came to our home to give an estimate. He suggested we visit his showroom, which we did. We were able to see all of the options to choose from, styles, colors, etc. We wanted to replace our old sliding glass doors with French doors and Carey explained everything that needed to be done and helped us choose the proper layout for the side glass and French doors. My husband and I had checked out a couple of competitors showrooms and I had fallen in love with a front door at one of them. D&D Aluminum didn't carry this line, but Carey said not to worry, he would be able to special order this door for us. This was above and beyond the service I expected. The doors and windows were installed on time and perfect. The Cooper City building inspector said it was a great job. We are so happy with the workmanship that we now are using D&D Aluminum to add a screened in patio to the back of our house. WE highly recommend D&D Aluminum to anyone in the market for new windows and doors.

Excellent. They provided a price that we agreed with, and scheduled the work to be done. They took care of the permits, and manufactured the materials at their site, and transported the materials to our site the day of installation. They did admit to a mistake on the estimate of the work, which was an honest mistake in our favor. I offered to pay the difference but they refused, saying that an estimate is their estimate and that they would do the work as they proposed. Quality was excellent, they took the time to go through all of the operation and cleaned up all of their scrap.

Superb. While my insurance company did not require the panel in the end, I was so impressed with how quickly they responded, how helpful they were. The cost was far below anyone else - but made a lot of sense given that it really was a small job. Should I need to install this panel in the future, I would call them.

The installers are great guys and do top notch work. The sales and supervision leaves something to be desired. My biggest complaint is that they installed all the impact doors with the top/bottom locking mechanism as required, but they can only be engaged when you are inside the house. ONE door should have been made to lock top and bottom after you exit the house. So after all that money one door is now locked only with the knob and deadbolt, making it vulnerable to fail in a hurricane. Jerry Hamburger should tell a homeowner that one door needs to be fully lockable from OUTSIDE. It's fine if you decide to stay in the house for a hurricane, but if you choose to evacuate for the storm then you are leaving a vulnerable door. All it takes is one door to fail. The second issue is that the new doors are not all installed at the same height. Some are resting on the slab, and some are resting on top of a thick ceramic tile that was previously installed in the house. I intervened to get one set of doors to rest on the slab, but others were measured only to be on top of the tile. Again, the sales people should pick up that important detail. I spoke at length with management about the door-locking problem to no avail. I'm not left with a very good feeling that I got a proper job planned and executed, and when I have the money I will get another company to finish the job.

We installed 4 sets of doors on this project, 2 at 80.5" tall and 2 at 81" tall as they are always ordered custom to fit each opening. There was a request to have one door ordered a certain way but not the other, I am not sure what we could have done to avoid this. If they would have requested the other door to be taller, we would have ordered it that way. As far as the double door locking from the inside, they are all designed that way. When you have a double door the active door doesn't require the top and bottom locks to pass the Large Missile Impact Test. We permit all projects as we did this job and passed final structural inspection with the city inspector. In an effort to keep this client happy we also ordered 2 new bathroom windows with clear glass after we installed the obscure glass windows per the contract. That was at no charge to the customer while we spent an extra $900 in an effort to complete the project to his satisfaction. It is very important to us to please all clients and finish all jobs. I am very disappointed that we weren't able to do that here, we did try.

Mixed review. In the end, I got good quality products and installation, all at a fair price. But the delays and missteps were very frustrating. They get an A for the first and a C for the second, and a B overall. Initial call to D&D on Tuesday 6/04/2013. He (do not know name) said they could not schedule estimate visit right then but he would call Thursday to schedule visit. He did not call on Thursday. I called again on Friday to check and spoke with Jerry. He said he would find out what happened. He called back and said he would come out for the estimate but he could not schedule it then and would call me on Monday. I was told I would just have to wait to find out when he would come. Not a good way to treat a potential customer. He came on Monday and emailed the estimate on Wednesday. He came by on Thursday for me to sign the contract. He told me someone from the office would call the following week to schedule the the engineer to take measurements. No one called all of the next week, so I called on Friday and spoke with Jerry. He told me he would find out what was happening. No one called back to make an appointment and the engineer just showed up at my house at 8:30 a.m. on Monday (6/24). Later, after he was already done, I found a message on my answering machine asking if it was OK for the engineer to come by! Finally got the windows installed on 8/05 (2 months after I first called D&D). They called on Sat. (8/03) to ask if they could come first thing in the morning that Monday (8/05). After I waited 2 months, they wanted me to respond in less than 48 hrs.! And then they installed only the windows but not the panels. And one of the windows was the wrong type! Finally got the panels installed on (8/15) The window manufacturer, TM Windows, finally came on 9/10 to replace the incorrect window sash, but they again brought the wrong type. By 9/25 I still had not heard from them. Called Kerry (different from Jerry) at D&D and he said he would check and call back. He did not call back. Monica at D&D called and said she would check and call back. She did not call back. On 10/03, Scott from TM Windows called to schedule to replace the sash on 10/11. It was finally complete, 4 months after I first called D&D. But the quality of the products was good and the installation crews did a good job. Everything passed City building inspection.

Response from D & D Aluminum
We did have a couple of issues with one of the windows as they aren't what folks normally order. They were raw aluminum finish and the top of the window was clear while the bottom was frosted. That is what caused the delay with the window that [Member Name Removed] is referring to. As to the time frame of 60 days to have the windows installed that isn't typical for that product category, we always try to meet 4-6 weeks, again the unique windows did cause a delay. I am not sure why calling on a Saturday to ask permission to install on a Monday was an issue, we only wanted to complete as soon as we were able, any other day of the week was offered. We did call to let him know we would stop by and measure and as [Member Name Removed] states he wasn't able to take the call. The measure didn't require anyone to be home, so in an effort to stay within our time commitment we wanted to measure and order as soon as possible. It was tough finishing the last window but we did. D&D Aluminum has finished any and all jobs we ever start including passing all inspections required. So no matter how many issues might come up during the project, we always see the job through. We did appreciate how patient [Member Name Removed] remained during the installation, that makes it a pleasure to work with understanding clients.

Called their offices and made an appointment for Monday, Oct. 14th between 8am - 8:30am. The gentleman came to my home and was quite punctual and very professional. He gave me several options for our bay windows and promised to send a quote for the cost of the windows and doors by e-mail. 2 weeks later and no quote. The other 2 companies we called presented us with quotes within 2 days of their visits. Very dissappointed with this company as I was quite comfortable speaking with the person who came to my home and he presented unique deas no other company we called for a quote gave us.

It is nice to see the 2 A grades for our salesperson's visit to the home. The quote was emailed the following day and must have ended up in the junk or spam file. A follow up call should have been made to confirm it was received. After I signed the contract and gave my deposit, I had a hard time getting responses on details, i.e. when they were coming to measure, etc. Calls would go unreturned. A couple of times, workers showed up unannounced to measure. This was very odd. Ultimately, they did a good job installing the garage door and the shutters for the front door, and their price was good.

They did a very good job. They were very professional and very nice but I had to keep calling them. They cleaned up and they were very clean. They would come and they would work and then they wouldn't come back for another week or two weeks. I didn't know if they had to order parts or if they had to do things. The shutters required stanchions and struts that were removable. They had to make holes in the patio deck. I asked them what was going to keep the holes from getting full of dirt. There are little nipples that fit in the patio up to the ceiling. It creates a strut so the shutters can't blow in. They were 3-4 inch wide aluminum struts that went from floor to ceiling. It creates additional strength against hurricane winds. Anyway they are temporary and they come off. He said there were plastic caps for them. They didn't leave any so I called and they said there isn't any such thing. There are 48 holes in the patio. He said he never said that and he agreed to look into it. I haven't heard from him. The shutters are nice and they did a nice job. They were nice but it took them forever. It was outdoors so I wasn't inconvenienced but I was annoyed with the holes. It went on for months and months. They were good but I felt that I was mislead. I checked all the different places and their price was alright. They came when they said they would come but they didn't say they would come very often. They were very professional.
