Apart from giving me an estimate for windows, they actually sent me an estimate for something I did not ask for. Their price was high. Everything about them, apart from their responsiveness and punctuality, was not good. I would not take a quote from them in the future.

Quickest service ever, job was done within hours of calling at a decent price and I wasn't given a hard time about having bought some of the materials myself.

These guys are so good you're almost tempted to ask "Ok, what's the catch?" Answer? There is no catch! What you see is what you get. It is excellence in a small business at it's finest. They could teach a lot of big companies a thing or two about developing loyal customers. We knew when we purchased our home that the windows were not in great shape. However, we thought they would be sufficient for the time being. When a storm came through recently, the windows rattled because the cranks did not allow the windows to shut completely. That experience, along with the fact that we did not have shutters for all of the windows encouraged us to look for a company to install impact windows for the upcoming hurricane season. After doing some research, we landed on a particular window manufacturer. Once we decided on the manufacturer, we started calling dealers of that manufacturer for estimates. D&D Aluminum gave us the best quote out of about 7-8 companies. While we don't necessarily make a decision solely on price, the price, along with the reviews I read on Angie's List prompted us to go with D&D. Cary was fantastic to work with and he was very patient despite changing our minds several times prior to actually placing the order and also my need to know every detail. He even made it possible for me to visit the manufacturer for a tour as they are a local company. He handled the permitting process and communicated with me throughout the process. The installers were absolute workhorses and completed the job quickly, yet they did quality work and did it beautifully. The windows themselves look wonderful and the quality of the window is great. We hope to have our sliding glass doors replaced sometime next year with impact sliding doors or impact french doors and we will definitely use D&D when the time comes.

Over all it was very good experience. The product is top notch and the installers were professional. Cary even assisted with the paperwork to lower our homeowner's insurance premium. I've seen a number of installations here in Victoria Park and none seem to be the quality of the ones installed on our home. We would definitely recommend this contractor.

I wen't onto Angies list & sent e-mails to 2 of the companies. I recieved e-mails immediately from both companies and scheduled appointments for both. Carlos (the manager) came out to give us an estimate. My husband was home at the time. We went with aluminum shutters as they are lighter weight and they are on tracks. The guys came on time and started work. My husband called me at work because the workers started to remove the decorative shutters on either side of my front windows & that had had not been discussed. I told my husband to stop them and called office right away. I was really angry that they just decided to change the whole asthetic look of the front of my house without discissing ot with me. I called the office & spoke with Cary (?) the owner. He told me that they always remove the shutters because of the way they put the tracks on. I informed him that that was NOT ACCEPTABLE so he had Carlos call me back. They were able to rework the tracks right then & there so the shutters could stay up. There was no extra charge.. They put the shutters back up that they had taken down (there were just minor issues that are now fixed). All in all they did a great job. My only complaint is that Carlos could have dicussed differnt options for certain windows. We have a large 8' by 4' window in the kitchen overlooking the back yard. The panels run horizintal and there are now big screw holes in the concrete which are not particularly attractive, I would have liked that to have been expalined better and maybe have given us a quote to do those as an accordian shutter. I did not realize how ugly the holes would look. Other than that, I would recommend them to anyone but would advise people to ask a lot of questions.

From quote to final inspection all D&D aluminum representatives were professional and efficient. I would highly recommend them to all homeowners.

Overall I was very satisfied. There was one snafu in that some of the balcony tile got scratched but D&D did offer to pay for me to have it fixed. The tile company said it would have to be replaced because the scratches couldn't be filled in. I decided not to do that since it would mean removing the shutters and existing tile and would have been too much of an ordeal.

Exceptionally professional from initial estimate through inspection of completed job. Cary Tarpley came and measured windows, then supplied a quotation. The price was right, and this company came well recommended by neighbors and was rated an "A" on Angie's List, so we placed the order. There were issues with getting approval from our home owners association as well as with obtaining the permit. The minute we received approval from the home owners association with their specifications we knew we were going to be able to proceed. There was a small glitch in getting the permit, but Cary stayed in constant contact with the city to get the permit issued as quickly as possible. The original date of the contract was August 10th and the date of installation was August 25, 2010. This was two to three weeks quicker than any other company was able to do the installation. The reason is that D&D manufacturers their own shutters and is not at the mercy of another manufacturer. This also means that they have control over the quality of the accordian shutters they provide. The shutters were scheduled for installation on August 25th, and on August 25, 2010 at 8:45AM the installation staff arrived. They were professional and worked diligently to make sure that every shutter was carefully installed and met their high standards. Upon completion the D&D staff took the time to explain the operation of the shutters and answer all of our questions. Today, August 26, 2010 the inspector came to inspect the job and sign off. The D&D staff member who came was very professional and waited quite a while for the inspector to come. The inspector was not very respectful of the D&D employee, but the D&D representative remained very calm and professional. Although the inspector was very abrupt, he did take a moment to commend D&D on their workmanship and said he had inspected many jobs D&D had done and all were excellent! This company was always on time, never made a promise they didn't keep, kept in constant contact to advise us the the status of the permit issue, and did an overall outstanding job! I cannot say enough good things about this company. If you are considering D&D Aluminum for accordian shutters, look no further. They are the BEST!!!

It was a great experience from start to finish. The estimate was given the same day as the visit to our house and it was a difficult installation as I needed concrete work in the back of my home due to some pavers being installed over sand. Not only did they do the job in a timely manner, they insisted we pull a permit and explained the pitfalls of doing so without. Cary the salesperson explained everything from the beginning as to the timeline of the project and lived up to every word. Randy the installer was really a workhorse. GREAT JOB BY ALL!

They were okay. Their quality and professionalism was excellent. It was a good price and they were very punctual.

They came out and provided the free estimate. After the project was awarded, there was a little delay in getting the shutters installed. Overall, very pleased with the company, the product and their installation.

The came out the same day I called to measure and give an estimate. They said it would be installed the next week. It was not and I was not contacted. I called the week after it was scheduled to be installed and did not get a return call. I called again and got the boss, who waid he would call back in 15 minutes. He did not. I called the next day and was given a scheduler. He said that the job would be done that Friday afternoon or the following Monday morning. It was not and again I did not get a call. I called Monday afternoon and the boss said he was struggling to find an installer for me that day. I said Tuesday morning would be better. Finally, it was installed with no problem on Tuesday morning. The installers were professional and did a clean efficient job

They worked very quickly and were responsive to our needs. Rushed to get the job done before the coming hurricane arrived. In touch with us throughout the project and followed up. Enjoyed working with this company and TJ. Felt very comfortable and confident with them.

The job went exactly as Cary described. There was one delay on my side (obtaining approval from homeowners assoc - they only meet once a month) and the garage door. My city required a different door than Cary quoted, but he ordered the upgrade & didn't charge me any more than he gave estimate for. All in all everything went as planned, Cary kept me updated every step of the way, and in fact, the city inspector was SO impressed with the work, he took all the contact info so he could obtain an estimate for shutters on his house! I felt like I 'done good' with finally picking a quality company!!

They were reliable and punctual. They showed up as promised and i am very happy with their work. They were very friendly and easy to work with.

I called the company at 10 a.m. On Thursday, August 14th. The salesman was at my home 15 minutes after we spoke on the telephone. He took the necessary measurements for the shutter and advised me that it would be installed that afternoon. At 2:15 p.m., the installer arrived and did the installation. He was finished with the job in 2 hours.

T.J. was my very pleasant salesman and gave me a price in the middle of the three estimates I received. The other two companies I interviewed didn't check out with Angie's List. The installers were professional, the company was very responsive to my concerns and requests. The job was completed very quickly after the permit was issued. I had NO problems with the business and would highly recommend this company for hurricane shutters.

From the time that they were ordered to installation, including the time to get the permit was only three weeks. Installation went fine, no problems at all.

Perfection! The estimate was lower than other companies., as they make their own shutters. They were able to deal with a problem window without any hesitation.The work was completed flawlessly throughout the process. The workers were truly craftsman who took the time to do the job properly (installing a door and windows in an older home can present challenges due to the construction and the seemingly uneven settling that occurs). All the workers were respectful. They did everything they said they would. Truly a pleasure to deal with! They required a 50% deposit, and the remainder only after the city inspections were passed. Any additional paperwork that we needed was done in a timely manner. This company has been around for a long time, and the owner is available. In addition, they encourage customers to use a credit card for payment, whereas many shutter installers don't want credit cards. They warranty their product for 10 years.
