Another company repaired the roof.

We didn't get to work together because he wouldn't even come to our home to take a look at what the issue was. I explained to him over the phone what the issue was. Unfortunately, every time he repeated back to me what he thought he heard it was wrong. This may have something to do with a language barrier. Next, the gentleman explained that he could not guarantee that he could provide a solution because every house is different. This is very clear. However, that fact that he did not even attempt to visit my home and take a look at the issue makes me glad he did not come in the first place.

The inspection went very smoothly. Mr. Chaiban was very thorough and was very good at explaining how things worked and why specific repairs should be done. He was very personable and knowledgeable and was able to answer all of my questions without hesitation. He also worked with us on the price. Very professional. Overall great experience. Would hire again and recommend friends and family to Chaiban Engineering Consultants.

Mr. Chaiban never produced a contract for services after promising to do so several times. He wrote a list of services to be delivered and pricing, I responded that this was acceptable and that we were depending upon him to perform the work, and offered payment. He then told me that he'd send over a contract, which never appeared. Over a period of six weeks, myself and my spouse contacted him via email and he deferred, saying over the past two weeks that he was "on vacation" and he would contact us upoin his return. After a week, he emailed us and told us he was too busy with other work and could not do work for us. After I wrote him complaining of his lack of professionalism in not simply saying this when we first engaged,, Mr. Chaiban wriote me and threatened legal action if I made any public complaints. In his email, he included a link to his CV attached that listed that he was a law student as well as an engineer. His lack of professionalism and follow up singles him out as a person that, in my opinion, cannot be counted on to produce work product in a reasonable amount of time, particularly for home owners. Again, in my opinion, he would rather discuss working than actually delivering work product and will take an adversarial position rather than working with clients to get work done. I have no experience with the quality of Mr. Chaiban's work, but, in my dealings with him, his business tactics are adversarial and opporttunistc. It appears to me that he would rather string small opportunitites along until larger opportunities appear. I will not do business with Mr. Chaiban. Although I have no reason to believe that he is dishonest, it appears to me that his communications habits and business practices are not condusive to a good relationship with the home owner client - certainly not with us!
