hurricane shutters
 + -1 moreI gave Alro a deposit of $2600.00 which was 1/2 the amount due in Oct of '09. The company came highly recommended by Angie's List. Diffferent people, including an engineer, came out to measure the porch. They told me it would take a few weeks to pull the permit and that we would have them around the end of Nov. Someone else came out and took final measurements. They set up an installation date and on that date, when WE called THEM, we were told that they were backed up, so we set up another in Dec. On that date, we were told that their installer was sick. My husband said he either wanted someone to come out right away and install them or our deposit back. The owner said that he would send our deposit in the mail. My husband said that he wanted to pick the check up. He was then told that he didn't have our money and the best he could do was to give us a dated check. My husband then went to the place of business and got the dated check. When he tried to cash the check on the day he was told to, it bounced. There were no funds and no pending deposits for that account.
Description of Work: I ordered hurricane shutters for my porch in October from Alro. I gave them a $2600.00 deposit and never received the shutters. They told us they didn't have our deposit when we asked for our deposit back in Jan. 2010. We plan to go into legal proceedings.

 + -1 moreThis turned out alright. Their timing was absolutely horrible due to a severe hurricane season the year before. Their follow up was good. I would hire them again.

 + -1 moreInitial sales presentation was professional, straight forward and polite. No pressure to commit to work/contract. After considering other offers, committed to work with ALRO. Very professional, very courteous and very quick. 99.9% of the job completed in 2.5 days. One return visit for one minor replacement of supporting brace on one shutter. Had to remove/cut one piece of guttering to get shutter to fit to window - this particular detail of work was done very well - can't even tell the guttering was "adjusted". Very thorough cleanup, followed by a very complete briefing and display of how to correctly close and open all shutters, operate locks, etc. Primary installer for job was on site when city building inspector came. Less than a five minute walk around the house and final inspection was passed!
Description of Work: Installed accordion style hurricane shutters on my home (24 windows and doors in total, one story). Work included removal of old hurricane panel lag screws and anchors where exposed, patching the holes, caulking all around shutters where necessary to ensure good seal, and thorough clean up.

 + -1 moreWas within quoted time frame and was at least 1/3 less cost then other estimates. Very professional job. I am very pleased with this company.
Description of Work: Covered 5 window openings with high velocity accordion shutters. Two were large sliding glass door openings. Three storied house. Got all permits and instillation.
