I contracted with American Van Lines to move my wife's goods from Houston to Denver. American Van Lines apparently sub-contracted the move to All-Coast Transporters. The agreement stated the shipper would provide me weight documents in Houston. They showed up late without documents. They loaded my household goods and departed. Later, I received a call from them telling me the weight was approx 8600 pounds and that I'd be charged accordingly. Having moved a number of times in the past, I knew we didn't have that much weight and informed them they would reweigh in Denver according to the contract. I met the truck at the scale in Denver (late again) and got that weight ticket. They unloaded my goods and I followed them back to the scale. The total weight of the shipment was 5840 pounds, a difference of about 2,800 pounds, or approximately $900. After a number of calls where their agents said they would make sure the refund was made that day (it wasn't) and that they'd call me back the next day to verify (they didn't), I've begun calling them frequently. They claim there was a transaction made to refund the money they owe me but it hasn't been refunded to my credit card. Apparently they claim there is a transaction number indicating they made the payment. I've asked for a copy of that transaction. They haven't sent it. They now don't pick up when I call. In short, while they did a reasonably good job of moving our goods, they attempted to over-charge me about the weight of a tank of fuel and are not responding to my attempts to get my money back. I would recommend avoiding these guys at all cost, even if it means avoiding their prime contractor, American Van Lines.

They did pack all night though. For the four days that my husband had been waiting for movers had the whole house almost packed. They then said that they packed all the boxes and the boxes were all half packed with newspaper. They did credit us back the full amount back for the packing. They did do a good job given the position we were in. They did lie about packing the boxes and I know they lied because they quickly refunded us when we complained.
Description of Work: They showed up on in the morning but they showed up about nine at night.
