EXCELLENT!!! Quick Electric did every project no matter how small to perfection within 1 1/2 days. This is the 2nd time we have used them for electrical work and would not even consider using anyone else. In fact, we like their work so much that we are already scheduling a returning visit to our home for a 3rd time for other projects we have. Please be aware that they are a small "mom & pop" outfit so their work calendar fills up quickly due to the high quality and demand for their services. Knowing this I recommend contacting them 2 weeks prior to the actual start date of your project. Their work is far superior to those larger electrical "franchise" type outfits that are able to respond within a short time frame but you have no way of knowing the quality/experience of the individual who actually shows up. If you are planning any type of electrical work, plan ahead and get on their calendar. You will be 100% satisfied and it will be worth the wait to get the best.
Description of Work: Did major rewiring and brought up to code in all 3 of my bathrooms as well as installed recessed lighting in the bathrooms and kitchen area. They also upgraded all my outlets and breakers. My house is 2 stories so wiring was extensive.

3/25/13 Unable to write review at this time. Company is presently rewiring my home and should be done in another week. Harlan J Heydon 4/22/13-------See comments above
Description of Work: Rewire entire house - approximately 1700 sq. feet. I had no idea in the beginning what the work would entail, although before the work was started, it was explained in detail what they were going to do. I didn't really appreciate the magnitude of the work until after it was started. After the work was started, I was informed what was accomplished that day. Rewiring an older home (built in 1951) requires the rewiring of EVERY PLUG, SWITCH AND LIGHT IN THE HOUSE. We replaced two circuit breaker electrical panels, re placement of lighting fixtures, installing four smoke alarms, ceiling light fixtures all the plugs and switches were replaced, provide new sensor lights outside, motor for sump pumps, motor for inside kitchen barbecue. etc. One of the most difficult and unpleasant part of the job was working in the attic to connect all the lights. The reason for so many of these changes was to comply with provisions of the State Electrical Code. A couple of Lucky Strikes extras was the providing a new motor for the exhaust of the barbecue. The second thing was diagnosing a problem with my stereo which needed the connection of a couple of wires. I must say they were really accommodating in making sure I understood every aspect of the work as it progressed. At the the end of the work day I could tell they were really exhausted. Anyone contemplating their home be aware that it is explensive, but well worth cost by providing a more safe home environment.

Scheduled to install a pile of 3-prong outlets to replace my remaining 2-prong outlets. Arrived on time. Discovered pretty quickly that there was nothing to ground to with many of my outlets. Made the decision to do a GFI conversion instead (applying the coupon value to the job). I think I go gouged a little on the pricing based on some after-the-fact research, but I wanted it to be done so I could stop with the 2-to-3 prong converter things all over the place. In one case, however, they installed two GFIs on the same circuit, so they would trip each other pretty regularly until I de-converted one (multiple GFIs on one circuit is a no-no). One of my outlets was just installed very half-assed and was extremely crooked & loose on the wall, necessitating that it be totally re-done (ironically (?), that one was one done by the boss.) The head guy also left the most crap around (stripped wire ends, outlet packaging, etc). The other guys were quite tidy, and the one of the guys caught two of my outlets with the polarity reversed and fixed that for me, too (including one that wasn't part of the GFI conversion!). So, that part of the job was fine, I guess. Not stellar, but certainly not terrible. Since the house was new to me & I had a few other desired projects, I asked the head guy to quote a few other jobs (service upgrade & replace a circuit breaker box) and his quote was fairly high over a couple other quotes I've gotten for the same work.
Description of Work: Installed several GFI outlets (instead of the coupon-specified 3-prong conversion, due to my house's crappy wiring).

I just called them for a bid to get recessed lighting done in the house. They're the only company that gave an approximate bid on the phone without even coming in to look at the house. The guy just seemed to be throwing out a number. When i asked him what kind of LEDs he would use he gave me a name like TH85 and when i asked about CREE lights he did not seem to know what i was talking about. He also did not seem to want to talk to me about the project and finally told me to buy my own lights!. I understand you are busy - but so am I and i'm trying to give you a project to make money! so the least you can do is be nice

Overall, it was very helpful. Gave us an idea of things we should prioritize and not worry about. As well as helpful estimates on cost of items so that we can budget accordingly for the future.
Description of Work: Quick Electric did a whole house inspection on our home (built in '75, with solar, and addition). They were on time and spent 45 minutes with me walking me through the entire house. They did a great job pointing out items and also provided estimates on a few extra items. Their advice was super reasonable. My one concern with doing a whole house inspection is that it seems like an opportunity for the service provider to "up-sell" you on addition services. But Quick was very honest and frank. Some of things we were thinking about, they said were unnecessary, and a few items he said we just do ourselves (like replacing some recess lights with LED and he showed me how). They took notes during the whole inspection and provided us with a nice list of items that were not up to current code. They were honest and reasonable, and I would definitely recommend them.

The inspection went well overall. They tested the electrical outlets, examined the different fuse and curcuit breaker boxes, and described problems as well as what did not need to be changed, Overall it was a positive experience and very helpful consultation with Quick Electric. At the end they gave us a list of what needed to be done and the costs involved so we did not have to wait and wonder! They called to find out about scheduling the work, but we have yet to get other proposals.
Description of Work: I responded to an Angie's List Home Electrical Inspection "Special". We knew there were problems and upgrades needed in our 1917 home that has both knob and tube and some curcuit breaker panel service. The biz card noted "free estimates". However, this inspection was much more comprehensive than a visit to look at a particular electrical problem. I thought the contractor, Nick, was polite, knowledgeable and provided helpful information about what would be required. I had hoped he/ they would go into the attic area to look at the wiring there, but this did not happen (this is why "good" and not "excellent". They provided a write up, and we will also be getting another proposal or two for the work that has to be done before we decide. Depending on costs, we would definitley call Quick Electric to do the upgrade for us.

Nick and his partner showed up within the window we'd agreed upon, and began their inspection. They kept me apprised of all that they were doing as they were doing it, and explained their findings as they occurred. They also sat down with me after their inspection to find out what my priorities were, in terms of the repairs needed (i.e., safety, or upgrade, or increasing capacity on a given circuit, etc.) and spoke with me a bit about tradeoffs, building code requirements, and how the work could be divided and parsed out, once I had the formal quote. They seemed to know their stuff, and were pleasant to talk to.

GET AN ESTIMATE FIRST!! Two Quick Electric Service technicians arrived on time to my three bedroom 1974 house to replace up to 25 electric outlets for $400 as per an Angie's List Deal I had purchased. I asked them to expand the service to replace all outlets, electric switches and cable outlet covers to achieve a uniform look (about 57 new fixtures). In retrospect I should have asked for a new estimate. They made time for the expanded job, were courteous and did good work. It took about 5 or 6 hours. However, when the time came to pay the bill, the total cost (after I negotiated them down) was $2500 (including the amount already paid for the Angie's List deal). In retrospect I feel the price was unfairly high and that they took advantage of my relative lack of experience dealing with contractors (I learned a lesson to always negotiate the price up front). The workmanship was fine. I have no complaints about the wiring and gave them a B only because one of the cable outlet covers is not flush against the wall (they should probably have punched a hole in the wall and inserted an electric outlet box to which the cover could be secured).

Nick replaced it and was finished in less than an hour, and I was happy to have my electrical service restored. A flat fee of $225 had been quoted at the time of my call. Based on the actual work time and a parts cost of $60, the hourly rate seemed a bit high. However, it was a weekend, so a higher hourly rate is to be expected, and I was thankful to have my service restored. I would use them in the future.
Description of Work: Electrical service to several rooms and outdoor Christmas lighting to my home went out. They responded to my late Friday call and Nick was at my home early Saturday morning. He quickly found the problem to be a 50-year old breaker that required replacement.

The job ran smoothly, in my opinion. There was an issue with the original electrical box in the ceiling not being strong enough to support the weight of the new fan. No problem - they had a reinforcement part in the van and even managed to install it without any visible damage to the dry wall, saving me another service call and hassle. Per the instructions on the big deal, I had all the necessary parts to complete the install, including a new wall switch - except that there were 2 crucial screws that were missing from the fan. They found replacement parts in the van and proceeded with the install, no big deal. They pointed out when there was a choice between two options, gave their opinion and then let me make the choice myself. The fan looks great and works perfectly. I would definitely use them again!
Description of Work: Two electricians arrived to fulfill the $115 ceiling fan install Big Deal that i'd purchased. They removed an existing chandelier to install the ceiling fan, reinforced the fan box (which was the extra $150 for parts / labor), changed from a dimmer to a regular switch, added the light fixture to the fan, installed the large more complicated fan blades and cleaned everything up.

I don't have much to compare them against, but this service person just felt like he didn't really know what he was doing... some of the issues that I had with him were: > he didn't have any parts on hand, he had to come out, look at my breaker panel, then drive off to buy a replacement breaker. > his method of turning off power to the panel, was to pull out the PG&E SmartMeter; this required cutting the PG&E seal on the unit; he said "oh, they don't care about that", but I have a hunch that the seal is there for a reason... is that really the only way to cut power to the house? > he had a *great* deal of difficulty inserting the breaker into the panel. Now, I *do* have a 50 year old house, so maybe the panel wasn't quite standard or something, but he cut connectors off the wires, bent panels all over the place, and generally had to mangle everything in the panel box to get it in there. I *do* have power in the house now, so I guess it worked, but I was not left with much confidence that anything was done properly... > I never received any kind of written work order from him; no written estimate, no receipt or description of work done, nothing. He just took my check and drove off. So overall, I just feel uncomfortable about the whole experience. I'm going to call PG&E tomorrow to see if they care about removal of the Smart Meter. And next time I have an electrical issue, I'll call somebody else.

I called Quick Electric service for upgrading the electrical service in my house from 100 AMP to 200 AMP. I had to also do some new lighting in the house. I requested for a visit to my house to discuss the scope of work and give me the estimate. Nicolae said I will have to sign up a contract and then only he will come and do the work. I asked him how I can sign a contract without the quotation. He said he is very busy and doesn't have time to visit and I should take it or leave it. He was so unprofessional and didn't care about the job. He also refused to acknowledge the 51% discount that Angie's list was offering and said that it was a mistake. I think Angie's list should take note of this before offering these products. Mayur

I felt that the workmen were very professional and respectful. And even though I did not anticipate such a large project and purchase, they made it easy and nonsense for me. Now my family is completely protected and my house is the new regulations being passed by the State.
Description of Work: Nicholas and his partner came in and installed 13 carbon monoxide detecters. When we purchased the special on Angie's List, we thought we only needed 1 detector, but it turnout that ALL the original smoke detectors needed to be replaced with a combination smoke/carbon monoxide detectors. The electrician explained the mechanism and why they needed to replace them ALL. They were nice enough to extent the special pricing to ALL 13 detectors. Once I did the paperwork, they went out to pick-up the extras they needed to complete the job. They were very careful around my delicate lighting fixtures and conscience of my wood floor. They left the areas they work areas as clean as they found them. As their name suggests, they were quick!

Overall the inspection left a feeling that the objective was to find as many things to do follow-up work on as possible subsequent to the inspection. A hand written summary of the findings was available when they were done, but it took follow-up contacts to get a detailed estimate of the cost of the proposed work. Decided to pursue other alternatives and priorities to the work plan suggested.

This supposed "whole house electrical inspection" was so much less than that. I assumed they would crawl under the house and actually look at the wiring, report on it's type and age, whether it was safe, etc. All they did besides tell me that my electric panel was not up to code was to identify which electrical sockets were not grounded. When I protested they said that's all the service was. I could have done this myself much more cheaply by purchasing the device they used to make this determination. I felt so scammed that I quit Angie's list as my trust with the value of its referrals was destroyed.
