DOMESTIC DESIGNS INC

We had called and made the first available appt in two weeks. The person arrived and told us they would call and discuss the findings. After three days I called and discussed findings with Buddy. He told me he could "patch" the area to ensure it would not leak until they have time to make another appt and "do it the right way." Four days later the person came out and patched the area stating they would follow up to schedule another appt. to complete the job. That's the last I heard from them for 2 1/2 weeks. Subsequently, another roofing company "did it the right way" as we never heard from them again. Except, when they forwarded our bill for $150 for the "patch job". At no time did I ever communicate with Buddy or anyone representing the company unless I called them first. Communication was very poor and I would never use this company again.

The crew arrived early and were totally done in one day. I couldn't believe it. Hauled away all debris and were careful checking to make sure no nails, etc. were left around.

Contacted Buddy after picking up his card at a local home and garden show. Everything seemed to work out initially as we were getting crushed with or home owners insurance because of our proximity to the beach. If we went with a new roof with some upgrades we would save about $1600 per year. Buddy arrived, explained the service and we then we took some time to decide on the shingles. In any case we picked out what we wanted and contracted with Buddy to knock out the work. The crew arrived on time and started working on our roof. Everything went off with out a hitch and the roof turned out great, but..... A week or so after the new roof we had our first hard rain of the summer. I walked out to our garage and spotted an ever expanding wet spot on the ceiling. I looked up into the crawl space and was greeted by water soaked beams near where a dormer inserts into the roof. I took a few pics and sent them right off to Buddy. To be honest, I can't say for certain how many days passed, but members of his crew showed up and did some form of repair work. Everything seemed to be OK for the next week or two until the next hard rain. Well, you guessed it, the expanding water spot reappeared and I was once more in touch with Buddy. Again, a day or so passed and members of Buddy's crew appeared and did some other form of repair work to where the dormer inserts into the roof. I was beginning to see a pattern developing. A few more weeks went by and there didn't seem to be any further heartache with our new roof. I pressure washed our house a couple of weeks after the second repair and was up on the roof washing around the dormer. Well, let me just say the amount of water that deluged into my garage was nothing short of shocking. I had the added bonus this time of having pieces of the "knock down" ceiling falling down in the garage. I called Buddy and was admittedly hot under the collar...$5400 and three leaks might do that to a person. I was truly floored by his arrogance and unwillingness to internalize my wild frustration. Once again, members of his crew showed up on the scene and attempted another fix. This time, I think we might be in luck as there's been no noticeable leaks since. I'm not sure how the leaks were sealed, though, as there's probably at lease two tubes of silicone smeared recklessly all over my dormer window frame as well as where the vinyl siding meets the roof. The work appeared good at the beginning, but has been an unprecedented nightmare since that very day. My wife and I have two restored cars in our garage and it was a real treat to see the hoods with parts of the "knock down" ceiling on them. The added topper was that I asked Buddy if he'd be willing to cover or at least offset the cost of replacing/repairing the ceiling and he said absolutely not; claiming that the damage was there previously. I've thought about legal action, but will probably forgo that option and just do the work on my own. In closing, even under the most dire of circumstances, I would never use this company again.

Although we did not use Domestic Designs because their price was the highest, we were impressed with his professionalism in giving us a quote. Showed up within an hour or two of our call. Also gave us some advice about repairing a couple of issues that we have actually used. He also explained how the new roof would positively impact our home insurance....which turned out to be true.

Earlier this week, my husband called Domestic Designs, Inc. based on their high Angie's List rating. He explained in detail about the issues with our roof, which were gutter cleaning and minor leak repair around a couple roof pipe penetration flashing. We also wanted an inspection and assessment of any other work that needed to be done. The fellow my husband spoke with said that would not be a problem and he would be at our home at 1:00 pm on Friday, May 2. It is now 1:57 pm, my husband just called Domestic Designs, Inc. twice. The first time the connection at DD, Inc. hung up without taking a message, so he caled back again with no success. Right after he hung up, the fellow he spoke with earlier in the week called back and asked what he wanted. My husband identified himself and reminded him of the phone call he made earlier in the week. The fellow then said that he was at the county court house doing paperwork and he would be at our place when he was finished. We had already rescheduled other appointments to wait for DD, Inc. to show up at 1:00 as arranged on Monday. If the fellow had an emergency or could not make the pre-set appointment, the courtesy of a phone call would have been professional. My husband then asked him when he though he would get here, as we had to leave for our rescheduled appointments in Jax later this afternoon. The fellow then told my husband, 'that since you already called twice and are asking me when I am going to show up, go find someone else'. We are retired business owners and would never treat a customer with this lack of consideration or respect. If the guy was having a bad day, don't take it out on a potential customer when they have rearranged their schedule to accommodate your visit and when you do not show up, without calling to inform the customer that 'something has come up and I'll be late, is that OK'. Glad that he is not showing up, don't need someone with that attitude working around the house.

They did an excellent job and at a price. They cleaned up their messes and if there were any problems they came back. They are really reputable. They do excellent work. It was a big job. The guy that owns it was easy to deal with. They came in under bid. I would use them again.

The job could not have been done better. Everything was an A and I NEVER give a rating that high to anything.

Would never recommend Domestic Design Roofing. While at home, the contractor came by the site no more than 2-3 times. When the roof was done he came to collect and he lost it when my wife and I presented a punch list. Mr. Boyd then said, "I am here to pick up my check and you hand me a punch-list?" Then stated he was going to place a lien on our property for failure to pay. I then stated that before I pay $16,000 we would like a few items (all cosmetic; except the request to clean the driveway after massive oil leak from truck delivering trash container) to be corrected. I then stated that it was never our intention to not pay him, but since he was out-fo-line, I asked him to leave. Mr. Boyd then apologized, stating he thought we were trying to back out of paying him. I then pointed out the items on our punch-list and asked Mr. Boyd, "Would you be satisfied if this work was done on your home?" And, he said no. Mr. Boyd then agreed to correct the 6-7 items on our punch-list, and I paid him in full. That was a mistake! 3-4 months later and Mr. Boyd has not replied to one phone call or e-mail after he was paid. Zero. Looking for direction/resolution I called my builder, who knew Mr. Boyd and called him on our behalf. Mr. Boyd still never spoke to us or replied to e-mails, but he did send over a worker, who did completed some of the items (soffit/vinyul work) on our punch-list. The remaining items are a ripple in the roof tiles on the back of the house, a few spots where the black drip-edge doesn't cover the white fascia, the bundle of shingles/tiles (for future repairs) we were promised, the driveway needs to be cleaned, and we never received any written warranty from Domestic Design Roofing (only the warranty from the roof shingles/tiles). We paid Mr. Boyd and he hasn't fully stood behind his product. I should have held back part of our payment, then Mr. Boyd may have completed the job. That was my last mistake. My first mistake was agreeing to have Domestic Design Roffing install my roof.

Buddy came to the house and quickly analyzed the problem and had the work completed the next day.

The owner of the company answered my phone inquiry same day, on a Sunday! He set up an inspection for the following morning and arrived on time. I had a leaking roof on an add-on room that needed immediate attention. Within 48 hours his crew arrived andcompleted the roofing and surrounding wood damage to the chimney and soffit. The job foreman spoke english and was thorough and the job site meticulously cleaned. I got a detailed estimate to have the remainder of the roof completed at my go ahead and the owner was very knowledgable regarding energy-wise product that would give me a tax break and homeowner's insurance break.

They were extremely professional. They did a very thorough job. They had great communication and the price was excellent.

It did not go at all. The owner came out immediately and was nice. Said that he could do the repairs, but it would be expensive - a couple of thousand. We did not balk at expensive, only wanted the job done and done well. Owner promised to return in a week, but did not show up. After a month, my husband called again, the owner apologized and said he would be over within the next 10 days....months later he still did not show. We called again about six weeks ago and the gentleman said that he remembered us apologized again, saying that he had two guys he would send over to do the job. We are still waiting for these 'two guys' to show up. I think the owner expected a bigger job and thought our small repairs not worth his time or effort. We would have appreciated more honesty on his part and not being strung along with ongoing promises to appear and do the repairs. Caveat emptor; if your job is not big enough, don't expect to see this vendor. A very disappointing experience.

Domestic Designs was very kind and courteous. They showed up to our house on time and stayed right on schedule. They also cleaned up all of the mess, leaving nothing for us to pick up. I was very happy with Domestic Designs.

I was satisfied with Domestic Designs Inc. They went over everything they were going to do before they started. I wasn't overcharged, either. They stuck right to the estimate. The work was high quality, and the roof looks great.
