 + -1 moreCarl came out within a few days of asking for estimate which he provided by email. Everything was written down and choices such as did we want a wind mitigation. Because the office is close by we chose the samples of the roof shingles. Carlson roofing was recommended by a friend who recently hired them to do their roof as well as a local roofing inspector I had to hire last year because our homeowners wouldn't renew our insurance because our roof was 19 years old and they only wanted to insure roofs 15 years or less. His workers promptly showed up at 7 am until 4 and worked continually. At end of each day they picked up any trash and the nails. Of course, you are going to find some nails which we did by going around the house and putting in a can. When it was time to finish for the day, a workman would always inform us they were finished.

 + -1 moreThey responded very well to roof leaking in the house thanks to Patty at the desk. Work was done well but a bit of a mess left with cigarette butts nails, and water bottles. I can live with that. The foreman insisted on payment before the job was even done.and them they put the wrong color drip edge (white not brown) it stuck out like a sore thumb. Went round and round with owner. He said he would paint it. I knew that wouldn't work. Sent out a professional painter and he said that wouldn't work. Finally after 3 months and having to threaten to sue he offered $400 back on a $15000.00 ruined roof or he could fix it. Really??? FIX IT!!! Offered nothing back for all the inconvenience. The guy was a jerk. Found out later I way over paid as well. Patty and the workers were good but stay away from the owner and the foreman.

 + -1 moreMy roof developed a leak and I immediately called Carlson's about a repair. Mr. Carlson came out right away in the rain and temporarily patched the roof for no charge. He gave me an estimate for a new roof at that time. After getting a couple more estimates I chose Carlson's to do the work. The work was done promptly, clean up done every day and completed quickly. Mr. Carlson was always polite, professional, available for any questions I had. I would highly recommend W.R. Carlson Roofing Specialist, Inc.

 + -1 moreImmediately returned initial call with a timely all inclusive quote....no if you need this, it will be this much more. I liked this because there wouldn't be any surprises or suspicion on my end. The staff was incredibly knowledgable, friendly and kept me informed each step of the way. The work was done immediately, quickly, clean up was superior and there was not any damage to landscaping. There wasn't a deposit required and full payment wasn't due until the job was completed and passed inspection. I would use this company again without any hesitation, and would recommend them to everyone. Perfect and worry free experience.

 + -1 moreThe office manager called and said that they weren't interested in doing the work for me. They didn't say why and they were very rude about it. We're pretty surprised because they're like the number one roofer in the area. Apparently, they just didn't want to tackle the job that required the removal of two sets of shingles. Our house has been re-shingled at one point. They didn't want it because it was double the demolition work. They didn't want to handle that. They simply refused to have me as a customer. It was kind of a kick in the face. The man who came out wasn't rude. He was on time and it was fine.

 + -1 moreI can't remember ever working with a company that wants to please the customer more than W.R. Carlson Roofing. From showing up on time for my estimate to completion of my roof in less time than I thought possible. Mr. Carlson was on site every day in case I had any questions, as was his associate Carl. Patty in the office made sure all permits were applied for and that I had chosen the shingles that I wanted. They started my job promptly early on a Monday and had the entire job done on Thursday with one day of rain thrown in! There was the threat of rain on Monday so they had a crew of 12 on my roof to complete the tear off and get it "dried in" before they left the first day. I loved the fact that there were no extra charges. My contract was "all-inclusive" so there were no price surprises at the end of the job--no matter how many additional supplies were needed. They were not the lowest estimate I received (hence the "B" rating in price) but I felt they were the most competent, plus they had the best warranty on exactly the same product.

Description of Work: Complete new roof replaced on my 2 bed 2 bath house + garage and lanai, Port Charlotte Florida. I contracted with Carlson Roofing about a month before they did my roof. I understood there would be a waiting period as May is the busiest time for roofing in Florida, before the heavy daily rains arrive in June. Here's the differences between Carlson and the other companies I was considering: 1) They came out and tarped up my roof leaks 2 days after signing the contract, so I wouldn't have any further water intrusion before they replaced my roof. 2) Their estimate was a set price, with no variation regardless of how much plywood and fascia wood was used. Others gave a price, with the exclusion that if they had to replace more than 3 sheets of 4'X 8' plywood, I'd be charged $50 a sheet. Carlson ended up using 9 sheets on my roof, which would have cost another $300. 3) They included a 20-page Floruda Wind Mitigation report for my house, which if I had purchased independently would have been another $300 or more. 4) My roof includes a 30 year warranty, and the first 15 years are transferable to a new owner of the house, with no depreciation. If I decide to sell my house within that time, this will be a huge value and prospective selling point for a prospective buyer. The price was a little higher than from some other local roofers, but well worth it for these extras. Besides the above, their 6 man crew got the whole job done in 2 and a half days, in a nice spell of dry weather before the June rains arrived. They used the best materials and did a totally professional job. I'm very pleased with my new roof, and all aspects of service. Patti in the office is a great person to deal with, took the time to explain all details and address any concerns. Besides the fact that she's from the Boston MA area like me, and "old man Carlson" is from Manchester NH. New England quality in SWFL. Highly recommended if you need a new roof or repairs to your present one.

 + -1 moreA very good job. Had a little trouble keeping it dry mid job (Florida, mid-summer,torrential rains,go figure...) but nothing the crew couldn't handle after the deluge. Large crews got the job done quickly, and seasoned veterans on the crews ensured all was done properly. I was on site the entire job and saw a hard-working, professional operation. Owner Will Carlson came to the site virtually every day and is as good as his word. Everything he said he'd do on that contract, he did. And the bottom line was what he put on that contract. Not a penny more. I trust him.
